I can't lay my hands right now on any more but I have a brother who has a huge collection of music. However, he lives on the East Coast and I live in California. Thanks. I know the one from the Movie which is a very sad and depression song and when Devindra Pooran did it live in Suriname and on an LP.

Devindra Pooran is from a village that produced Dave Martin of the Tradewinds. Back in the days there wasn't any bridge across the Demerara River and the last ferry was at 7:50 PM. Electricity came to the villages in the mid 60's. Only on a small scale so that area produced a lot of talent. Musical talent.

I am still listening to music. But not really singing. I listen to all music genres - Jazz, blues, pop, Indian, West Indian etc. The music that you are hosting here is also special to me as well. It is part of the early days - the music you used to hear on the radio, people like Pancho Carew, Matthew Allen, Eshri Singh, Ayube Mohammed etc. that shaped our generation. Also the Bhojpuri style of singing is dying out which is part of my heritage and part of the Caribbean musical fusions. I will check your channel from time to time. Good luck Jewan

There are like me, trying to bring the sounds of Guyana from years gone by. The three of us are doing it strictly to preserve our past sounds. I am in all kinds of music too but my favorite is blues followed by Classical. A true gift from god. An extremely quiet person in real life too. He lived in a place called Nanny Park in Guyana after he married to an Indian Guyanese Lady. That was in the early 80's.

Thanks you very very much for your sentiments and wisdom. I live in Northern California and in my travels I've tried many time to find folks who were willing to work with me and set up a channel to preserve these music. I started out this project a few years ago during one of the Caliornia's fire storm and I wondered if these things were lost so I started up loading things to youtube. Hopefully some takes it and saves it. This channel is not for financial interest. My buddy Clement Ragobir also had the same issue so he started a channel too. Thanks for commenting. About the records/tape I was mostly into Rock/Blues music but know my Hindi music too. I had left the region by the time these songs were recorded.

I have no idea my friend. I bought the LP in Toronto and recorded to a cassette. I left with someone. That relationship died and so was the ownership of the LP. This was 1997. Cheers. Time for some yoga before bed. cheers.

Hello There. Thanks so much for dropping me a line. I first heard his mastery on a religious LP back in the late 70's. I left my native Guyana a few years later and moved to Northern California. I played in a few bands in Guyana before I left and played in a few groups out here. Blues/Rock. I, however, have always had a good collection of what I refer to as classic. @jewanc465 I don't have much in my collection. Some I bought, some I got in Trinidad 🇹🇹, the others were gifts. I have cassettes & about 200 CDs - not to mention VHS tapes & DVDs' 💿- Indian films & Classic films- Streetcar Named Desire (1951), Cleopatra (1963), The Godfather (1972)- all on DVD 📀. You are out West in California. I am East- The Sunshine 🌞 State of Florida!! 😂 How we will manage to cross paths is beyond me!!!

@@riyadhrafique8377 Hello There once again. If you were to look at some of the things I've uploaded it included 78's from the 40's and 50's and some 45's out of Trinidad from the 60's. I also studied classical music for a while and so I have lots of LP.s by Bach, Beethoven Mozart etc. Crossing Paths is called Life. Nothing happens without a reason. I remember hearing a few LP's in the late 70's at the start of his career when he backed guys doing devotional. I left Guyana soon after and also the community as I resettled on the Pacific Coast side of the US. One day I said I would hate to pass on and not share some rare pieces of music that I am still in possession of. so I started to upload some things. Thanks a million for sharing your story. I had left the region when this was recorded. At this point in time I had vaguely remembered Devindra Poran as the band I was in at that time was a few miles away from the band he played in. The announcer has a powerful voice. I didn't understand I word he said but I could feel the power. I would have loved to have been there for this show. Cheers Bhai. Happy Pagwah.
