So many Seasonal shows, but I’m just watching Konosuba S3 and Sentai Daishikkaku/Ranger Reject (good adaptation of the Quintessential Quintuplets’ author’s ‘Sentai meets The Boys’ manga) and enjoying both. Yostar adapting the manga even better than expected and the manga is currently at a crazy point (the OP and ED are perfect, with the OP being done by the JJK OP 3 guy and the ED is a Sentai ED tradition.) Clarifications/extra info (long, yet in-depth comment warning.) 2:41 - ‘Episode 11’ on Crunchyroll for both Seasons are non-canon OVAs that were packaged with LNs that were much further along in the series and didn’t air on TV (they weren’t meant for anime only viewers and are fanservice for LN readers, as the info is shown before the anime adapted some stuff.) Crunchyroll didn’t know that these were LN bonuses, but they translated/dubbed them and they also did the same for the movie and some people think KonoBakuen is S3, when it’s a prequel series. 3:04 - Konosuba is basically an Ecchi series and the OVA pales in comparison to certain scenes in the LNs and Akatsuki’s other series in the Akatsuki-verse (shared universe/multiverse?) 32:18 - Fun fact: Goro Majima’s VA voices extras in Konosuba and KonoBakuen. 33:28 - Eris doesn’t replace Aqua, the angel that appears does, because Aqua’s domain is large/Japan based and Eris watches over the isekai planet. 36:02 - Megumin is 13 in S1 (12 in KonoBakuen and 14 post S2 E2.) 36:36 - Her endurance is higher than Kazuma’s, Explosion just uses up so much that not even an op Lich like Wiz can cast it twice (her grip on Kazuma in S1E2 prevented him from shaking her off and she can run longer than him in a short story.) 37:10 - Fun fact: Darkness is a status effect in Final Fantasy which is basically Blind/lowered accuracy and no, she can’t raise her accuracy and she also puts her points into defense and refuses to use a shield to feel the hits. The JP dub has some wordplay, like HikiNEET and Damegami, which Akatsuki does in all of their series (the LN also keeps the references, like Doremon, fake Danganronpa, fake Ace Attorney, and etc.) 38:39 - 17+ LNs including the multiple spin-off series. 38:47 - Same as Mato Seihei no Slave/Chained Soldier, but S3’s PVs seem to imply that they are adding back in skipped chapters (Kazuma’s backstory/campfire, Tranquillity Girl from Book 5/the movie, and the Party Swap chapter that was meant for S1.) This happened in S2, too, where they had to add back in the Dungeon chapter for the plot. 42:15 - His name is Japanese for Ruffian and he doesn’t actually have a name because he’s a glorified extra made exclusively for the anime because of his VA (same for Luna, but she was much later added to the LNs, as the manga had a different design for the guild lady and didn’t have a name.) Kemonomichi is the same and had anime characters made canon later. 42:46 - Wiz’s short intro chapter was the flashback, but they turned it into a Drama CD with the anime VAs (as for Yun Yun, it’s the same as the anime, because she shows up in S2 E2 and the OVA is non-canon, but there’s Yun Yun/Crimson Demon fans on the staff, which persists for KonoBakuen and the movie and they made them more ‘waifu,’ so they’re not as crude.) 43:48 - He’s explored a bit more in Book 5/the movie, so hopefully the campfire scene is added in to explain why he is the way he is. 47:38 - Kazuma’s the same in the JP dub, they just didn’t translate them for Crunchyroll, but you can hear it and more so in the LNs. 47:48 - It’s not so much a swear being censored, but because Megumin is 13 and explicitly saying the Japanese word for the male body part and threatening it. 48:28 - It’s fine, since the WN, LN, Manga, and Anime are all different experiences and have changes/cuts (the anime is a better adaptation than the manga, since that actually has filler) and the romance/main love interest hints/foreshadowing is more obvious in the LNs. 48:56 - Sentouin was written before Konosuba, but was published after it (which is why it’s a proto-Konosuba and Konosuba borrows some things and it’ll be a lot more obvious for S3, if you look at Alice in Sentouin and the storyline of the first Season/LNs, plus same universe/multiverse?) 49:10 - Konosuba finished years ago (but plans on making a sequel and also a spin-off for a S3 character, after potentially Sentouin is further in or ends), while Sentouin is still ongoing. 49:30 - They get more content rich post LN 4, which is why 5 is a movie and 6-7 took so long (plus they’re serious/darker LNs and two of the more controversial LNs.) At the same time, this Season will have one of the three most popular characters in the entire series, below Megumin and Eris (fun fact: the Gacha VAs reprise their roles for S3, like how it was done for KonoBakuen and they’re all great.)

The first half of season 1 covers the short arcs with 4 episodes a volume(pretty normal light novel adaptation speed). The second half covers the first long arc much more oddly(5.33 volumes in 14 episodes) and has much more cut than usual, but also has very good script writing to work with it. Season 2 was one of the worst affected by covid, and so 1) had to delay releasing episodes, 2) animators worked while locked down from home. It also had major staff changes as studio bind was created from white fox. Future seasons won't have this issue at all, however if something else negatively affected them it would be understandable (long sequel seasons of a very long light novel series, I'm just glad that it's not released faster otherwise the quality drop would be enormous). I should also say that arc 4 is overhyped by other readers, the webnovel version is a fan translation and I don't know how it is otherwise but changes in the official light novel flowed much better and it wasn't as necessary to slow the pacing as fans claim (the volumes are longer by then and 300 pages rather than 250 but 6.66 volumes in 25 28 minute episodes is the slowest pacing of the series). I think it was hit by the studio's struggles in a way which affected the script honestly. Future arcs won't be adapted as slowly and I think that's a relatively good thing so long as the script is as good an adaptation as season 1. Also this is a terrible series to watch dubbed, but then I'm anti dub so...

There is a very straightforward reason why Subaru is in Lugunica. I won't say it, because I don't know how far you are, but there is plenty of rhyme and reason. Also, the whole thing about Subaru being isekaid becomes much more important later in the story. I'm talking season 3 content, certain knowledge becomes incredibly important later in the story.

Yeah this series… I dropped it after chapter 3. Because I knew deep down that hey, if a regular harem anime can sometimes get annoying because of characters grinding chemistry sometimes not working. *Looking at you Nisekoi* Then I know if you Jack the women to 100 of them and the protagonist’s loves all the girls, then drop it because it’s trash. This basically means that the protagonist is either A, doesn’t understand the concept of love because he’s just dating any girls that has a pulse. Or B, the author was just drawing their fethis of having an Indian harem, but didn’t want to look weird so they drew it up in Manga format. Because keep in mind this artist is going to have to draw 100 different GF’s and then remember who’s who and what do they like, and also realistic do they all know he’s dating each other are they fine with it? Because this isn’t World’s End Harem, where the protag is 1/5 guys left on Earth alive. I speed read the manga to chapter 4, but even in Chapter 1 The god of the shrine straight up tells OP that if he chooses 1 Soulmate the other 99 will just die. So this is a dropped. Still don’t know how it got to chapter 155, and counting, this is straight up ridiculous.
