That sucks… looks like we can’t even trust the dealers like that either.. that’s the bad thing about cat they are all about codes codes codes.. rough idling and smoking is a clear indication that they didn’t do it properly.

It’s always good to be ready for a situation like this specially with the cat engines that everything is so much more expensive. And this was done at a certified cat or dealer? Or your mechanic?

@@T.W.S.1223 It was done at Tony’s Diesel in Sioux Falls. They do really good work and mostly specialize in overhauls, mostly CATs. Once work was started they finished in about 4 business days

I wish I would have gone your route. Altorfer in Addison got me. Convinced me I needed an inframe. Ended up being an out of frame platinum. Long story short out 46k 3 weeks and it runs worse than before. Turns out the o rings on liners deteriorated and started passing coolant into the oil pan. My head was new so was the turbo and compressor. They wouldn’t warranty it unless they replaced everything. Runs rough and smokes heavily on startup. Since no codes are thrown they refuse to do anything. Even warranty will be useless as I run 35k a year.

I would be call caterpillar then because it is on record what that shop did to the engine. My 2 cents

Yeah at this point I’m trying to lawyer up and see who can take this case. Cus yeah, they’re trying to blame it on everyone else but themselves. It’s been 3 months so the longer it takes the more it’s gonna add up on their $$

It’s pretty bad.. wouldn’t surprise me if it was tactics for small businesses to close so us owner operators quit the industry and all the mega carriers run the show.

That is what I was told as well.. but are they really going to sue for the money that I’m asking for now? And my insurance policy will go up even tho I wasn’t at fault.

@@T.W.S.1223 They have been around for several decades. They make them for fenders, fuel tanks, front grills, etc. U can Google leather fender covers for semis & see them

That’s what I want on the side of the cab. Still trying to figure out if I wanna put steps or just cut holes on the side fenders.

@@T.W.S.1223 The most economical way is 2 cut the holes then run the Stacks. Steps are pricy unless U find sum @ salvage yrd

Not to mention the stacks and everything that comes with it is expensive enough.. now I’m just thinking on what size, 7” or 8”

But they look some much better with them 7s or 8s running between the steps and fuel tanks ❤ looks large that way, gotta pay the cost to be the boss, whoop N Ride hand, clean truck driva

Ive used it and really haven’t seen any difference. And actually the better oil that’s worked for me has been Mobil delvac now. Truck runs a lot smoother and oil pressure doesn’t drop at all.

Runs kind of rough with the secondary being fleetguard. If it’s not cat on the primary it’s the 1212 fleetguard but secondary is always cat.

Thanks! Yeah I’m still trying to contact them every other day I’m not giving up.. There’s every kind of upgrade I want to do to this truck. Lots of interior work I want to do and maybe some nice stacks to go as well. Just gotta wait and save up some more

@@T.W.S.1223 You mentioned you drove a Volvo for a little while. How long did you have that truck? Did you customize the Volvo or did you leave it stock? Also, did your Volvo have a Series 60 Detroit?

I had a Volvo for 5 years! And yeah I was customizing it the last 2 years I had it. Mostly the interior but it was such a clean truck. Had an isx15 deleted. Sold it with only 725k miles. I have lots of pictures in my instagram. @Truckingwithsal

I’ve actually done all of the above. I did dry vanilla for most of my driving years before I switched to intermodal. I do enjoy reefer and dry vanilla and if the rates go up again I wouldn’t mind switching going back on the road. About chassis, there are instances where we go to places where we just deliver the container so they take it off our chassis and we drive it back. We don’t really drive just chassis only other than just going to a different yard and getting a new container.

It’ll definitely be up there if you take it to cat directly. But finding a good shop that’s reliable, aftermarket parts work just fine

Look into it.. since I’m financing my truck.. I was paying 225.. but for the last year everything bumped up because they wanted us to get the 2m policy and went up to almost $600

Yep! And don’t get me started on bnsf mechanics.. they find any excuse for them not to do any work.. they’ll try to give u a flip ticket before they change a damn tire

Yup. Mine was busted the night before and the re kw a few hours later like at 2am.. but couldn’t move till he got that tow. The area is finished now finally though now I’m still waiting on their response to their adjuster.

@@T.W.S.1223 Speaking of containers, you ever haul a tri axle container? I know on a video you made you said anything over 37K is considered overweight so does that mean the chassis should be a tri axle?

All I do is encourage him to keep up in school.. but I’m not going to hand out money like that.. nothing is given in life so he has to earn some money one way or another. In that case u can say he’s not only learning about the engine and how to do maintenance but also how to work for his money and not expect anything for free.
