Because the drive shaft is keyed and the cam ring has to line up with its bolt there’s no way to screw up the pump timing I guess. The position of the A mark etc is just needed for synchronising the valve timing? And position of the ring controlling the amount of fuel squirted in by the pistons in the drive head needs to be recorded to optimise fuel consumption/emission control etc.
Hey James any luck with the hydraulics on the ford 555? Having the same problem and need some help
Thanks a lot for sharing your work! Brings a lot of value!
Yea you wanna put the converter in the pump first then mate up the engine and bolt it down through the starter hole, cause if you don't it can take out that bearing in the front of the pump, and the oil seal. You just gotta wiggle and see with a mirror and light that the nipple on the front of the converter made it into its nipple hole in that cone. Other thing is that, you really wanna feel that the converter meshed into the pump with those tabs by hand. For some reason people always screw this up on chevy transmissions and it ends up ussually destroying the transmission and the converter
Do you have any pictures of the gear drive behind the clutch "spool" housing once you take it off the input shaft? Mine appears to be missing a bolt somehow... may have fallen out, sort of concerning to say the least. That is probably a good idea to tig weld the flex plate or whatever it is called, I had one of those explode and the torque converter banged around inside the pump and also wallowed out the nipple hole on the engine side where the front locating pin for the torque converter sits. Luckily this was like 10 years ago before the parts were so expensive, back then the flex plate was 70 bucks.... 450 now I saw ???????????
when you fasten drive gear on to hydraulic pumping head how do you make sure it is bolted correctly and not 180 degrees out of time with the 2 bolts. putting a scribe mark before dissassembly would not work for me because I am installing a new head assembly
I have a similar pump on my MF175, what you called the auto timing device on the bottom of the pump, my pump does not have. Instead there are just two bolts and I am assuming it's because they just kept the same housing design and on pumps that didn't use that timing device they just used bolts to plug the holes. I am asking because one of them has a little fuel pushing passed it and I was wondering if you knew if I could remove that bolt to replace the washer or whatever was sealing it without it messing up something internal to the pump.
It sounds like your fan housing not properly insulated and causing rapid heat from motor and cooling
So what was the issue?? My starter switch not working would it be my starter, battery is good tested showing 12.6 volts.
Wow no shit. I had no idea Yamaha made that.
Hello please I'm from Ghana I know how to do this work❤
Can you please tell me where CDI box is bolted on bayou 400
Damn good video and it debunked all the guys on forums. They were scaring people away from doing it themselves saying they need special tools and have to be o so very careful and precise and they shouldn't attempt it . Good job and thanks.
Amigo buenas noches oye disculpa me podrias compartir el manual de servicio que tienes por favor
Great project!,hope all works out well for you!👍,just wondering though thats a Ford 555 but its a smooth block engine there, hadn't the 555 a ribbed block same as a 4610 ,the older 550 would have smooth engines same as a 4600 tractor 🚜
Not sure about smooth or ribbed block but mine is a 1979 ford 555 (no letter) engine is a 201ci naturally aspirated engine
Thank youuuu!!
Very good video, that helped me a lot. Youre are pretty skillful. Regards from Denmark 😊
how will we check the rotor and camshaft?
Hi there. I have exactly the same issue as you. And my Siemens extractor goes into condensation expelling mode (vent to velocity 1) during a few minutes before turning itself off. One thing that might help as well (although on your case "short extraction tube length" it shouldn't make a huge difference) is to insulate the metal extraction tube (which is metal, and so colder) preventing water vapour to turn into liquid inside the tube. You can do this by surrounding the whole tube. Finally as a preventive measure, you can add (next to the back draft valve) an condensation trap (and letting the resulting water go to the drainage using a small tube).
I have a 555 that’s very similar. Thanks for sharing, extremely useful!!!
Where is the fuse box
Hey who did you get to rebuild your torque converter? Thanks....
Did you solve the problem? Come on dude, help a fellow klf-er out. follow up video or comment?
Great series. About to tackle a head gasket on one of these. Where did you find your new parts/gaskets?
Good job!!! Have you some video repair the engine?
I have a whole series on rebuilding the engine.
brilliant!!! Where can I watch that series?
I need to change the one in the middle because it is scratched. tomorrow I take the motor out of the machine :(
@@LucianoCorsini-os7df click on my Chanel the videos are numbered
good video. Does the transmission slide back. And is there some kind of drive shaft that comes out of the back of the transmission
Those output shaft ears get sloppy and shear off
this video is insanely helpful for my 555 project im working on right now.
How did you solve the problem? I don't know if mine is the same but I'm trying to find the starter relay. I'm writing from Polish, so I don't know professional mechanical terms. For me, the quad starts manually and does not want to from the starter. Sometimes when it's cold it will start with the starter so it's probably good.
I am go to you ar shap
Nice work Captain kleeman another youtuber just bought a tractor just like yours.
Awesome machine , i hope my vids can help in some way
Cool ! I’ll check him out
Hey great vid man very enlightening, can you share pdf of the service manual please greetings

Hi guy, where did you get the Hydraulics information, i need it, please if you can help me will be great and very thank full
What hydraulic information are you looking for ?
@@jamesmckeachie6149 if You have the hidraulic diagram, because i Will check one of this machine which si not working properly, so with technical information is easier
The big clip by the cam has a square end and a rounded end. It is located in the factory so the timing marks line up with the square end of the clip. The location of the clip is not important if you are not using the letters to line up the timing.
Is it possible to bypass the relay? Not the starter solenoid (I know that can be done by a screw driver) but the starter relay? If yes, can you please help me by explaining what needs to be done. Thanks!
Very interesting. A good running commentary. A fascinating video.
I have a 98 Bayou 400.. I have a grounding issue.. how would I go about finding it?
What do you mean at 8 :12, the transfer pump is back in with oil slot down? I thought there was only one way it could go back in? Correct me if I'm wrong but can that be placed incorrectly??
I thought my dentist was scary but now I see your dental picks and I realise how lucky I was.
Wow you got that engine looking good I wish I new what to say about the plate dragging but I hope you’ll find someone to help!
I have run 555 backhoes ever since I was 20 years old and they always had plenty of power and the turbo in my opinion is not necessary which is why yours looks so hillbilly. It’s just another thing that can go wrong to . If it needed a turbo certainly Ford would have done a upgrade for the 555 and they didn’t. You can even run down the road with a front bucket and back bucket full of sand and it will handle 4th gear.
You know my 555 needs a pump rebuild but I just chickened out and I am going to look for someone to do it for me I have very bad tremors but my point is good for you that you are doing it yourself I tip my hat to you your a good man keep that old iron running and carry on Canada!
You can probably leave the crankshaft gear on the crankshaft if it’s good! But I just thought I would suggest that you get the injection pump done while you’re at it and maybe the torque converter maybe get it tested if you have it apart but make sure you you get the right oil from New Holland each torque converter and valve selector has there own special oil and in this case you have to use the New Holland TDH.
Wow you’re really energetic to tackle that block removal! I have tremendous respect for you! I wish I could help out with the torque converter but I don’t know unfortunately but I have a 1978 555 with injection pump issues and I was looking for help on TH-cam and came across your video so the least I can do is say a little prayer for you and I would like to encourage you to get that old girl running again because they were the best backhoe in there day and not really that complicated! But anyway keep on trucking!😀

I’m having issues with the headlights. They aren’t getting any power and neither are the tail lights
Same
Look up a wiring diagram that corresponds with your model number, for my 97 bayou the head/tail lights run off yellow wire
Hi James, thank you for the video, please tell me how do you calibrate slow, idle and full load rotation Do you use any bench tests?
I had a shop calibrate the pump and go through my injectors after the rebuild.
I almost bought this product. Thank you so much for sharing. What a junk
We found that letting the hood fan run for a few minutes after we are done boiling water stopped any water from dripping
@@jamesmckeachie6149 I have the same issue…the point is for it not to drip during cooking. The mess is already made
Manufacturer said to leave it running for a few minutes after cooking and that has solved the problem. It’s due to my induction cooktop apparently ?
Cant find the little guy
