Hey everyone! This is Austin and Jessica and we'd like to welcome you to our channel, a place where you'll find us living the life we dream of living and hope to inspire everyone to do the same. We reside in the small beach town of New Smyrna. We're stoked to have you! We live by one motto, "Have fun and that's final". We would also like to introduce the other half of our family, first and foremost, our Pyrenees mix Chief! Chief is a three legged, cancer fighting, badass of of dog. He is in the midst of fighting osteosarcoma and doing it like a champ! The other pet goes by Tomlin, Mr. Bubbles, Tom, honestly whatever our friends decide to call him that day. He's a black cat rescued from PetSmart about 4 years ago and loves to hunt anything that moves. Also, he's the sweetest. Follow along for fun and adventure. Once again, thanks for watching and we'll see ya soon! Peace and love.

Hey guys! We'd like to formally welcome you to Cooking Around the Planet! The weekly show where we randomly pick a country out of a hat, learn about the place and culture, find an authentic meal from that country and then give it our best shot at cooking that meal for dinner. All the while, sharing everything we learn with you! This idea came to us two years ago while we were having breakfast at our favorite place, an Argentinian spot called Wake Up Cafe. We are so excited to finally be making it happen! There's nothing we love more than experiencing new cultures, food and travel. As we share these meals we hope to inspire people to learn about cultures they may have never thought twice about, to think outside the box when it comes to dinner time and to be humbled by just how fascinating and complex life is on this beautiful planet!

Hi, missing you guys. Hope all is well and we look forward to seeing you soon!!!
@@natashaarcher-brooks5779 Aww thank you!! We’ve taken the past couple weeks off to spend with family. We’ll be back with a new episode this week! Much love 💛
What about grit from pavers? Did u clean first
Good first attempt. Let it dry down a little more next time. Add some cold slaw and a large glass of mauby.
Thank you! Ok will do! Thanks so much!🙂
just needed to dry down some more and you didn't put salt hence the sweet
Thank you!🙂 will give that a try!
Thank you for trying our dish. It was a great attempt! I especially loved the seasonings you used! Pelau is something that can be complex to cook if you're not used to it- even in our own country there are people who don't do it so well. 🤣Especially when we're just learning- it takes some practice. That being said: 1, Pelau is dark in color. So the burning of the sugar process is crucial because you don't want it too dark either. Maybe practice stewing chicken first or look at some videos where people are making that so that you can see what the sugar is supposed to look like before adding your meats. 2. If you can't locate dried pigeon peas, you can substitute using black beans. It's not common in Trinidad but because of its similar texture and dark color, it's a great substitute. Pro tip (If you're using canned- add at the last 5 -10 minutes of the cooking process so it's not too mushy. If you're using dried then pre-cook and add 10 minutes after the rice). The idea is that it remains the right texture. 3. Allow the liquid to evaporate a bit more
Wow! Thank you so much for all the advice! We will def be putting all of it to use next time we cook Pelau. It’s our favorite dish now and can’t wait to try and make it even better. Thanks again!❤️
@@MellowCo You're welcome! Glad I could help. All the best! ☺

Phenomenal job. Loving it
Thank you!❤️

this dude is whipped.......lmao
Lmao. A comment that everyone looks at and goes “huh?, that makes zero sense.” Just know that we all are thinking that. We are all now a little dumber after you graced us with your presence here in the comment section. Thank you. We actually all feel bad for you, Saturday morning, in the comment section of a TH-cam page just trying to spread good vibes and you dropped your lonely, absolute ass of a comment. We wish you nothing but the best. Sad.
After 20 pizzas you’ll be visiting the local chiropractor 😂
😂 have to get a good stretch in before
very cool, i'm gonna try this next week!
Thank you! Have fun!🙂
That place looks absolutely beautiful I truly enjoyed watching you make this wow
I know right! Yes it does! Aww thank you❤️
what material is the slab and what is the size of the slabs
That's Sawyers cousin Jessica and her husband
Do you have a way to fix when it falls down during pullout? Mine does this and I hate it
The lead dancer is hilariously funny 😄
Your videos are great but your channel needs a professional logo and cover photo I am a graphic designer you talk to me And your need to do video SEO Let me know if you are willing iam youtube expert
It's better to put them in frames than putting them naked on those wall shelving items. Better protection. That way they won't get dusty and who needs that. And that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so (from 976-CREOLEMAN)!
She displayed them how she wanted to.
@@ginger732I understand that. But for me I wouldn't want to drill holes in the walls. I like my walls in my house empty. It makes each room more wider. I do have a solution to show off vinyls. Give me a holler and I will explain - thanks (from 976-CREOLEMAN).
Omg those look so good 🤤 Gonna give them a try this week
They were soooo good! Let us know how it goes!🙂
With the vegemite on toast.... have looooootttts of butter and then add a little vegemite. It is really strong like that and not very pleasant. It will sting your mouth like that hahahahah. (Aussie who loves vegemite). It is a yeast extract. DO NOT spread it like peanut butter!
Ahhhh good to know haha!😂 We will give that a try, thank you!
There are several videos on TH-cam somewhat similar but I really enjoyed this one for it's vibe! Great job!
Aww thank you!🙂
🏝️
Indonesia ok
How long does it take from starting the fire until it is hot and can cook the pizza?
About 15 minutes with a good fire.
Wow! That Jollof Rice looks amazing 😍👏🏼 Great job as usual guys....I admire you both so much. So kind of you to post the donation link 😊 Australia here we come!
It was sooo good! Thank you so much! Aww that’s so nice of you❤️ So awesome what he is doing, we’re happy to shed light on it as much as we can❤️ Let’s goo!!🇦🇺🇦🇺
Good effort but you needed to bring the sugar some more and cook the chicken alone for about 25 minutes then add the rice, peas veggies and coconut milk the dish would not have been as mushy. Check out Trini Cooking With Natasha pg
You could also check out Cooking with Ria, Eat ah Food, A taste of Trini and in de Kitchen with Uncle Clyde
Thanks so much!! We appreciate the tips!🙂
What amazes me is the time you all took in choosing the places I love going on these adventures and learning the culture and the food.
Thank you! We have so much fun doing it and glad you enjoy it as well!🙂❤️
Just found your channel. Great job on the pelau. The more you make it, the better it gets… There are so many recipes on here on different channels. But glad to see you enjoyed it. It’s enjoyed with salad, potato salad, or cole slaw… even a side of mac and cheese pie. Great job 😊
Thank you! We appreciate that! Yes we absolutely loved it🙂 Can’t wait to try those sides with it! Mac and cheese pie sounds amazing! Thank you and thanks for watching🙂
@@MellowCo You’re welcome😊
@@MellowCo Just saw a comment that you live in Florida.. If you can find a Caribbean supermarket, then they’ll have everything you need. I think there are a few in Orlando, Ocala and other areas. It’s worth finding and then you’ll have everything you need to make Trinidadian and other dishes.
Thank you! Good to know! We’re only 45 min from Orlando so we’ll look into it and go there next time we’re in the area. Thanks so much!🙂

You forgot the oil. First, put the oil on medium heat, then add the sugar. Wait until it's black, then add the chicken.
Awesome! Will try that next thank you!🙂
@@MellowCo Not black please please don't . Just slightly dark brown will be ideal. when it black it will be to bitter and that will spoil the taste
From a Trini living in the city of Pittsburgh. Not only do I love the fact that you tried a traditional dish from my home country, but also seem to be a Steelers fan too. Thanks for the country's history. the dish looks amazing!!! 😋😋and GO STEELERS!!!
