That's a beast off a blower does it have wheels or those bulldozer treds.
I've owned a track-drive HS928, which was eventually traded on the HSS298ATD that I own now. Is the HS928 in the video a Canadian market-only model? I ask because the machine that we see here appears to incorporate several HSS-series features on the prior generation machine: LED lighting, an electric chute rotation control, height control via a pneumatic strut ( and not a foot pedal) and the articulated chute exit of the HSS1332....and, if I'm seeing things correctly, on-board 12V electric starting. Just curious. Frankly, the HS928 in the video looks like an HSS-series blower with a few HS parts, like the white wheels. I wouldn't mind the auger height extension accessory. The OEM Honda drift cutters are non-adjustable and project out from the machine significantly, which can affect how easily or not the blower is stored. On that point, the Husqvarna drift cutters are adjustable, sliding up and down via wing nuts, and are a confirmed fit on at least the HSS928. Yes, these machines are beasts. My neighbor's hoary, box store-grade Troy-Bilt blower is oftentimes relegated to clean-up duty after I make the first clearing pass with my Honda. Good times.
Any tips for a newb? I just got mine a couple weeks ago. Instead of the Honda oil that came with it I decided to use Shell Rotella T6 full synthetic 10w-30. I also am adding an extra skid shoes that were meant for wheeled version and put them on the sides of my track version to have both front and side skid shoes. Charged up the battery and now I just need snow.
1. Use the fuel shutoff to run the carburetor dry if you won't be using it in the next week. Drain the gas tank at the end of the season and run the carb dry. Some people also use stabilizer during the season; 2. Plan your swaths and minimize blowing across where you have already cleared. If the OP had blown from the left side instead of the right they would have been doing this; 3. If you can blow in both left and right directions then go down the centre and just turn around without changing the chute direction. Most blowers throw to the right a bit better than the left due to the direction the impeller is turning. That means turn left at the end of each swath. 4. At the end of the session run the augers for a minute, shut down and clean off the blower, including the auger and impeller. This stops ice from forming and locking them up. If they are locked up chip/melt them free. Don't burn a belt or break a shear pin trying to get the engine to free it up. 5. Grease the auger shafts and put anti seize on the wheel axles before you first use it and at the end of each season; 6. Read and understand the manual. 7. TH-cam has a bunch of snowblower maintenance videos.Donboy73 is you friend; 8. The impeller can only throw so much volume of snow per minute. The augers can scoop in more snow than the impeller can throw if the unit is going too fast in deeper snow. Set the speed slightly slower than when the machine is starting to push snow like a snow plow. Snow plowing means the impeller is overloaded and the augers are staring to push snow out the top of the auger housing instead of feeding it into the impeller; 9. Mother nature's snowblower is way more powerful and will win the argument. Work with her to get the snow somewhere else.
@frankenberry9670 Awesome tips! Thanks bud!! Still not enough snow to rev her up yet.
I thought it would stall out. I stand corrected.
Wow wow that smaller unit destroyed that snowbank im impressed with your machine

I had a HS828 from 1994 to 2007. The audio track from this video brings back wonderful memories. My HS828 would make those same engine sounds when it contacted a snow drift and the engine loaded down. And it threw snow and cleared paths like no other snowblower. From light snow to heavy slush, the only thing that could touch it (or come close) was another Honda. Easily the most expensive walk-behind snowblower you could buy. And worth every penny.... I paid $1899 for my HS828TAS in 1994. I think the HS928ATD is around $3499 now.
