Don't walk away Renee, I'm going to replay you in my home.
Hermosa cancion a pesar de tanto tiempo sigue sonando unica y especial
oh man, the harmony is all off. sorry guys.
You will be old some day and maybe you'll regret making this mean-spirited comment.
This is a great performance of this song from my childhood. My first love and I carved are initials in a heart on a tree in hometown USA. My name is Renae and I walked away. He did not follow. Great memories of first love. Thank you for this post of this old hit.
We can thank bass player Tom Finn's girlfriend, Renee Fladen for inspiring Keyboardist Michal Brown to write both Walk Away Renee and Pretty Balerina. Renee danced ballet in high school. Michael had an interest in Renee that was to never be. The Baroque strings and harpsichord define a unique genre - Baroque and Roll.. The flute solo was inspired by the Mamas and Papas California Dreamin'. This is a sad song of a love that was never going to be and the string arrangement produces a constant "crying" effect that complements the lyrics perfectly. This live performance is brilliant. The only thing that I would have changed was to extend the ending like this: You're not to ..., You're not to ..., You're not to blame. The Left Banke were just teenagers when they recorded Walk Away Renee and Pretty Balerina but their songs sound like they had way more years of musical experience than they did.
They still sound pretty good!
Please tell me how a couple of high school boys could write one of the most beautiful songs ever and never be able to repeat its success?
@@elainetwum3465 Elaine, there were one or two others that were just as masterful. Pretty Ballerina, Desiree. Have a great day and God bless.😻😻😻😻
Truly awful. Thank you very big.
This song still brings tears to my eyes. It makes me think about lost love ❤️
@@johnross8614 I know what you mean😢😻😻😻
He so no Steve Martin !
One of the very first songs I remember. I was born in 1964, all my siblings were at least 10 years older, and they played this song well beyond 1966, when it was released. I'm so thankful this beautiful tune is the first song I recall, compared to most born today.
@@disoriented1 Sweet…thank you😻
I'm Super Beatle Fan but this song is my all time favorite Song in the 60s
Maybe 2 or 3 original band members? If this is 2011, I wonder why Steve Caro Martin didn't sing with them. He sadly passed in 2020.
This is my all time favorite song, ever. It is in its own category. Brilliant composition, and stand alone haunting sound effects. Steve's voice was meant to blend with the string instruments. Different, a good different.
@@dennisweaver5485 Thank you Dennis.. You are right that it is in a class of its own. God Bless😻😻😻
Beautiful song
I Love This Little Song.
@@kennethhutto6420 Thank you 😻😻😻
Being a _'one hit wonder'_ band, I can't help but wonder how many times they've done this song. I'll bet thousands of times.
@@oregonpatriot1570 Not quite a one hit wonder band. I think you forgot about Pretty Ballerina and Desiree.
At some point in your life you have to stop singing. Does anybody hear how false this is?
Wow! One good song for sure!
@@tehpanuychikon168 Thank you😻😻😻
His voice sounds so much like the original singer. Who is he?
@@user-qm7nw7vd5s That is Mike Fornatale. 👍🏻😻
Man, where is stuff like this today? I need a time machine!
@@timturrill Thank you👍🏻👏🏻😻
@@timturrill Thank you…😻😻
Lead vocal is floppy and out of tune and the harmonies are even worse.
This is definitely one of the best tunes of the 60’s, I still remember when I was 9 hearing it on the radio, it has a magical quality. 🎶
@@stevekille447 Aw, thanks so much Steve😻😻😻
Couldn’t agree more 👍👍👍
Good job Mike F. See ya’ at 69 show. Do some Mothers, I hope.
@@edmondutleyjr.4504 Thank you😻😻

Very good!👏👏👏
One of my favorite songs ever and you did this song proud!!
@@valerievanetten3183 Aw, thank you so much😻😻❤️❤️❤️
Wasn't I lucky? I was 17 when this was released. I was there for Beatlemania, British Invasion, Motown....still here for Billie Eilish & Taylor Swift
@@poorthing Yes, you are blessed😻😻😻
From the first word of the song I am impressed ! 👍🏻
Thank you👍🏻😻

The very wonderful Cyndi Lauper sings a hauntingly beautiful version of this song ....
I saw these guys in Washington DC about 10 years ago warming up The Zombies. Their performance was excellent. In fact it was so good I went out to the lobby where they were selling CDs & other stuff. I asked if they had a live recording of the band. They didn't, only their original recordings. Which wasn't my thing, but live those songs were hot. They missed the boat by not haveing a currant live CD to sell at their concerts.
I’m glad you enjoyed that show. Thanks for your note. God bless.😻❤️
One of my favorite songs from when I was young. Unfortunately it appears some of them lost their harmony.
I agree carnivalgjy
Great classic song. Takes me back to simpler carefree times, good times with friends,. We grew up with the greatest rock and roll music there ever was. And, we got along just fine without cell phones and computers.
So very true Lars. Thank you and God Bless😻😻😻❤️❤️❤️
Yes we did
one of the best songs ever written...
Thank you so much Joe..God Bless😻😻❤️❤️
Fantastic!
Thank you Melissa😻❤️
@@margfinn5889 My pleasure Marg..
Great to have one more video recording of them singing their hauntingly beautiful ballad!
Again, thanks so much for caring 😻😻😻
This does sound like the original singer , great tone and nice harmonies by others
Thank you😻😻
Beautiful song. The music from that era is the best and most heartfelt. ❤
Thank you, and God Bless…😻
Is that Steve Martin, the original lead-singer singing in this video ?
I don't think so.
No, unfortunately Steve wasn't in any of the reunion
No, unfortunately Steve Martin-Caro wasn't in any of the concert reunions in the 2000's with Tom & George. This video features Mike Fornatale who has a very good voice imo, but personally, no one will ever sing it as perfectly as the inimitable Steve Martin-Caro. Rest in peace, angel.💔💔❤️❤️
I was 9 and thought what a pretty song. Still love it.
Thank you 😻
Mike nailed the vocals!
He sure did…Thank you👍🏻👏🏻😻❤️
Fabulous!!!
Thank you 😻❤️
47 years later and the vocals are still great. Loved the song when i was 12 and still do.
Thank you😻
Wasn't Micheal McKean (Spinal Tap) briefly in the group at their first refomation?
The strings and flute add so much to this song. Almost like additional voices.
Check out the Southside Johnny version with the Sax.
Oh my gosh. What horrible vocals out of tune and flat.
I believe the 1970s canadian group Klaatu took some inspiration from this song.
Vocals are off.
