Yes you can do sheetpiles in chalky soil types. If near accupied building do assessment first of noise and ground vibration to prevent structural damage to nearby structures. You might need to use bored piles if site is sensitive to noise and vibration.

You only remove the prop once it becomes redundant...ie its no longer required for the stability of the sheet pile wall. i.e either you have partially backfilled the excavation such that the pile embedment passive pressure balances the active pressure. Otherwise the prop stays in position and you work around it until the excavation is stable without props. Key thing is to have a peer reviewed construction sequence and verify actions/resistances at every stage of excavation.

Elwin, thanks for watching. the retained depth on this job was about 4m, with shoring. In general max depth retained will depend on the geotech condition, groundwater level, structural capacity of sheet pile unit, shoring availability, refusal depths etc..

The profiled metal sheets are sheet piles. They are driven into the ground by a rig. The large white pipe is an existing drainage pipe that gets cut off and diverted so the structure to be constructed.
