Nice video! I love the idea of cheap, plastic barrels for feeders - but with a tin roof to keep critters from chewing holes in the top of the barrel. I do have a few questions… I’ve seen similar setups with some guys saying the winch is vulnerable and bears will sometimes break them or shake the cable to make the feeder drop food. Their solution was to wrap the trees with 6-8’ of sheet metal or aluminum and mount the winch above. That way the hoist and the chains/cables holding up the feeder are inaccessible to bears. Have you ever had issues with bears attacking/swatting the winch or cables?

@@coolazamoose The feeders have evolved over the years. I have videos of bears shaking, climbing, and even playing with the winch. We did have one bear break a crank handle. I took it down and had a guy weld it to back. I have not done the metal on the base of the tree but it does work. My Dad did that to his outdoor bird feeders. It would make the crank hard to get to with it being that far off the ground. The over sized roof helps keep raccoons out but it really extends the life of the feeder by keeping rain and snow out. Squirrels are very hard to keep out but the larger roof does a decent job. Thanks for your input.
