Schroeder wasn’t particularly funny but he had the looks, and later a decent physique for a young teen. They pulled some shirtless scenes in sweep weeks. Bateman was a better actor with a good sense of comedy.

David Spade was good in this. He should have tried more drama. He can do serious roles good.

I thought Jason Bateman left because of all his family troubles with his criminal father, alcoholic mother, magician brother, twin sister and her failed marriage to her failed doctor turned failed actor actor husband, brother who lost his hand and suffered panic attacks. Plus his hippie uncle he had to work double time to keep his family's realestate business going while keeping his family together.

I noticed that the punk rocker looked a little bit older but I just figured it was because he was a dummy and got left back a couple times

I was crushed when Jason left Silver Spoons. Jason & Ricky worked well as a comedy duo and it's a shame adults got in the way. Total tween crush on both!😍

That’s what I remembered Him from I remember when He made a real comeback in the later 2k’s I couldn’t ever remember what I knew him from I used to watch Silver Spoons every single day as an 80’s kid I watched the reruns too as long as they were on But I couldn’t ever remember what I knew Bateman from and now I know , Silver Spoons it is . Those were the best , The 80’s Still The Best Decade 90’s is when the world really started going to pooville But 2010’s it started making a turn for the better until 20 twenty Now it’s beautiful out everywhere I go as long as I don’t look at any of the screens & MSM they make sure to force the Pooville on society . I remember Silver Spoons , Charles in Charge , Threes Company , Punky Brewster , Alf , Who’s The Boss , Cheers 🍻 😁 I LOVE that show 7 & 730pm in Las Vegas I watched it every night while Ma was at work & I was either home alone or My older sister was in her room My sister was & still is The Best Making Me Macaroni and Cheese & Hot Dogs for dinner to survive on 😁 Anyways …. The best shows were from back then Including He Man & ThunderCats 😁 Thanks , now I know where I knew Jason Bateman from when I started seeing Him again ✌️🙏

It's 2024 and different strokes moved from NBC to ABC in September 1985/season. Andy played by Brian bonsall on family ties, was playing the youngest sibling Andy not the cute kid brought on at the last minute. And earlier seasons, Meredith facts of Bernie was pregnant and they wrote her pregnancy into the show and Brian bonsall was the youngest Keating sibling at 5 years old when he joined the cast.

I think they made the right move, and the tv show It's Your Move Should have never been canceled.

It's Your Move was a great show. It was cancelled because parents objected to the storylines that were a bad influence on their children. I don't like to point the finger, but parents are just as guilty. It is their responsibility to view the show with them, and teach their kids the difference between right and wrong. I think that there are a lot more shows these days that are much more worse than the a couple of shows from the 70s.

As a direct source to the show the truth is Jason and his agent as well as his parents by tv executives who liked his work on silver spoons and previous guest rolls. These network executives wanted to use the popularity of Jason’s talents and silver spoons to launch Jason into his own series known as its your move. The executives promoted the idea of Jason being the star of his own show and more money.while you are correct about Rick and Jason being close friends on silver spoons you failed to mention that Rick schroder was extremely upset with Jason for leaving the show and for many years Rick had a feud with Jason over it. Even Joe Higgins who played Rick schroder father was upset Jason bailed out of the show. Note yes Rick schroder and Jason Bateman did end there feud and we’re together in other projects but there friendship still was never the same

Im watching Bateman now....Havent seen Shroeder for years. Bateman can play anything. Miscast for Ozark..he totally nailed it and more. Not much he cant do. Serial Killer....I hope not.

I enjoyed the hilarity of Derrick (Bateman) ogling over Kate (and any other girl that caught his eye) far more than the actual adult relationship between Kate and Straton. Bateman's departure from the show left a huge hole. Alfonso Rebeiro was great as Carlton Banks on "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air", but as Ricky's new best friend on Silver Spoons, he was tragically unfunny.

Or it could be the boring story of bateman popularity on the show , got him better job offers somewhere else

Imagine Family Matters let Urkel go because he became too popular. Thats the thing with Sitcoms, you have to evolve the show on how the audience responds.

Back then there was so much cocaine flowing through that business the producers couldn’t make sober decisions. Bateman totally stole that show.

I show that show to my kids so they can see what my teenage years were like. I loved It's your move. It was Parker Lewis can't lost stole the concept.

My 2 children and I watched Silver Spoons JUST because of Jason Bateman…once he was booted,we stopped watching.

How bout Jimminy Glick. That character was absolutely hysterical.

He’s one of those that you hear about who turned down a certain iconic roles(Ferris Bueller, Full Metal Jacket). But often you think it wouldn’t have been as good if…But in his case he would definitely have pulled them off as well as the ones who ended up doing them. Unfortunate because he was a really unique and talented young actor.

I thought Ricky was cute. But now that I'm older I realize Bateman was cuter. Probably why they got rid of him.

Imagine a television show where a woman was an assistant to a man and, not only didn't constantly ridicule and humiliate him, but actually fell in love with him. Such a show could never exist today.

Interesting, never knew this. Grew up watching this and Derrick was my favorite character. Both are my age. As far as the decision, definitely a bad one IMO
