DIY Simple Enamel Glass Kiln for under $100
In this video I make a kiln capable of being used for glass enameling. Actually the technical limits of this kiln should be around 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, so it should be able to do a lot more than just fuse glass. Fuse metal for metal clay projects. It doesn't have a temperature controller, so I would only use it for silver clay. Copper and Bronzclay precious metal clays probably won't work out so well because they need to be fired on a schedule.
In this I reference a one day build from the Adam Savage's Tested channel, and how I wished I had done my heating element coils using the same configuration. That video is here: th-cam.com/video/7uS7A4x31PY/w-d-xo.html

Eyepins that don't come apart - Quick Tip
มุมมอง 928 ปีที่แล้ว
Adding beads to chainmail jewelry can occasionally be a challenge. Depending on the quality of the beads they can sometimes force you to do things in a way that you wouldn't like or that can weaken the end results. As I ran into that problem myself I wanted to show how I work around it. Other things that can be done to strengthen the eyepin loops: 1) You can work harden with a pair of pliers. I...

    I'd be interested in you giving more specific suggestions on the welders. I am also looking into this as more than a hobby and feel soldering is the way to go. But there is sooo much more to it than making stuff and selling. Not so sure it's worth it.

    Man, that die to punch out each layer is awesome! I've always just cut them by hand with shears. Did you make it?

      Hello NemecJesse, sorry this took me so long to reply to, I rarely use this account anymore. Anyways I did not make this die, but I have made others. They're called pancake dies by most places that sell them. I believe this one was from PotterUSA, it's been a long time I'm not 100% sure it's one of theirs.

      @thekiltedsilversmith4947 no worries, after seeing your video I used the Google machine and eventually found Potter USA, didn't look like they had all the dies that I like to use for a rose though. All of the ones I have built are 4 or 5 layers, plus the sepal.

    Tolle Ausführung, jedoch ist der Aufwand zur Herstellung solch eines Produkts sehr hoch und fast unbezahlbar wenn man es verkaufen möchte. Beim Verschenken können die Beschenkte den Wert und den Einsatz fast nicht nicht schätzen.

    Thanks so much for the tips😊 During the Pandemic I ordered a kit from Chainmail Joe off Amazon and found that I really enjoy making jewelry with it. After making pieces for friends & family I’ve been thinking about starting a small business but looking at the different prices left me insecure about pricing. Your video has truly given me some confidence about starting up that business 😊

    Are you just using solder to connect the parts

    • @thekiltedsilversmith4947
      @thekiltedsilversmith4947 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, it's RioGrande's high copper solder. Melts at a higher temperature than typical electronics solder, or the kind used for plumbing, but also has a better color match, strength, and a bit of ductility.

    End result is beautiful. Thanks for sharing; although the video is on high speed, but what you are doing can still be appreciated. The music can be a matter of taste. It can feel tetrical, but it also can match a Genesis/Creation kind of a move. Thanks, great work.

      Thank you, when I was still active on this channel I planned to make a longer slowed down version that actually explained the process and without the music. Life got in the way and I had to move out of my studio space and I quit making videos, but thank you for the feedback, if I get back at it I will keep that in mind.

      lol, yes, I agree now watching it. When I was active on this channel I had planned to make a longer format with no music and without the atrocious fast forwarding. Life happened, I no longer have that studio space, and I quit making videos. If I get back at it I will keep this in mind and try to do so with a less cringe worthy sound track.
