I've been a compliance trainer for a 15 years in the pharma industry and 10 years in financial services before that. Every single employee has it drilled into them that while they have a 1st amendment right to say whatever they want on social media (or anywhere else) they MUST NEVER speak in any forum or in any manner in which it could be even remotely perceived that they are speaking on behalf of the company without express permission. This is because companies have enough PR/legal/other problems without employees creating new ones. Calvin Robinson is a self-promoter and an attention seeker and clearly a loose cannon. He's addicted to appearing in a Roman collar precisely so that he can be perceived as speaking as "Father Robinson" rather than "private individual Robinson." He's been told multiple times to stop. He won't stop. Correctly this organization has acted swiftly to sever their relationship with him.

Atrocities happened in the past may God forgive hitler and his minions and bring peace and healing to those still suffering but what musk and calvin did are no where near the nazi salute. They were not used in salutation to a madman or his ideology. It seems it was a gesture of giving your heart out to people....there is a huge difference in that and an actual salute. I doubt there was any evil malice behind the gesture. Everyone should b given a chance to redeem themselves and explain the reason instead of jumping to all sorts of conclusions. I think that the 'ACC Archbishop should have prioritised Calvin's case and spoken to him in order for him to explain himself and for him to issue any apologies that might have been deemed necessary. It's hard to be a political person and a priest at the same time. I am reminded of the late and erstwhile Mgr Bruce Kent who left the priesthood to engage more in political activities. Is Calvin trying to ride two horses with one arse? I'm not sure.

Your fanatical anti-Anglican stance surely serves only to alienate 'borderline' potential Christians and make them less inclined than ever to want to become true disciples of Christ. I certainly can't see it drawing many folks to Roman Catholicism. If you dig deeper into the New Testament you will discover a Jesus who has little love for the religious tribalism which you seem to relish. Instead of witch-hunting a minority of Anglican bishops who seem not to meet orthodox standards, why don't you rather share with the rest of us the rich understanding of 'heaven' that so many theologically sound teachers of all denominations do hold to? It would surely do more good than your biased rant. But maybe that's asking too much of you.

Why not women in the church hierarchy? Must we have a misogynistic commandment to be properly Christian? Women were big in the early Christian church. As for heaven, after we went above the clouds and found the desolation of space, the man on the street had cause to think an up there heaven was a stupid idea. Religion is doctrinal and dogma laiden. But educated folk question and think, so a one fits all dogma is often a bad fit. Faith in a God can be a stand alone and belief in Jesus as God's messenger is possible without a doctrine as such. Jesus equivocated on his status but his creed was simply based on love of God and one's neighbour. Anne Widicombe is hardly to be taken seriously on profound matters of faith. If she became Jedi Warrior I might be interested.

I'm not Anglican but I would say you have believing and unbelieving, and various stages of heretical clergy in all Church's. Look at the Bishops that Pope Francis promotes, who have openly expressed disbelief in infallible teachings such as on homosexual acts, before their promotion, and orthodox Bishops are sacked for being too "rigid" . The Pope's atheist journalist friend said that Jorge told him that he didn't believe in the divinity of Jesus. The clergy could just be making bad taste jokes taken seriously by lay people. The law of gradualism could also be at work, ie growth in faith is gradual and usually mixed with various degrees of unbelief. I believe even Mother Theresa spoke about going through unbelief, a dark night of the soul.

But Pope Francis also brought in blessings for same sex couples.

I thought of converting to Anglicanism as some of the RC church's doctrines seem biblically unsound. But I remembered that the church of England was set up by Henry VIII as a breakaway from the RC church because the Pope would not agree to the King divorcing and remarrying. So that church, unlike the lutherans for example, was founded on sin. And here we are 5 centuries later, the church now run by people who don't even believe their own creed.

Yes, the Church of England is quite lost these days and has questionable leadership, but it has its treasures, both human and in its music, rituals, prayers (the Book of Common Prayer contains arguably the most beautiful prayers written in English that have ever been written). In terms of its human treasures, let us not forget the two great mystics of recent times, both former Archbishops of Canterbury - Dr Michael Ramsey and Dr Rowan Williams. God is the God of surprises and moves where It will. Our ways our not God's ways, and while the Anglican Church is now dying, in part due to its wayward bishops, it nevertheless leaves a great legacy which points to God and should not be discounted outright.

In his speculative Christian fantasy novella 'The Great Divorce', C S Lewis described an apostate Anglican bishop who had gone to hell because he denied the Resurrection. Lewis was being prophetic. In my downstairs toilet library, alongside books by Freud, Darwin, Marx, Dawkins, Huxley, Chris Hitchens, Tielhard de Chardin and various other enemies of the Gospel, I have not one but two books by 'progressive' Anglican bishops in which they denied the Resurrection and other key Christian doctrines. John Shelby Spong and David Jenkins are their names, both dead now. Jenkins (he of the Durham cathedral lightning strike fire) said in his book that most other bishops shared his revulsion against 'supernaturalism'. Both these men denied the Resurrection and many other Christian doctrines, but were not fired. The Anglican church is largely gone the way of many of our other institutions, the long march of cultural Marxists though the institutions. The scariest thing was that bishop Jenkins said that most of his peers were as unbelieving as him. Given that the New Testament is FULL of warnings against false teachers, false prophets and false Christs, we can expect to see them. And , guess what, false teachers in the church do not have a tattoo on their forehead saying 'I have come from Satan to devour you.' They are plausible and they take people in. After all, what would Satan do? He would infiltrate the church with smooth talking false teachers to lead many astray. Jesus warned us that this would happen. There is a saying about poker games, there is always a sucker at the table and if you can't work out who it is, then it's you. Same for false teachers. If the church is not infiltrated with false teachers, then Jesus and the Apostles were lying.

The New Jerusalem will be on the earth. In that sense beleivers won't go to heaven but wherever we are we'll be with Christ forever. But as for "stupid", surely belief in Purgatory and the idea that Mary is our mother are both pretty silly.

There are ungodly faux Christians in just about any camp one cares to mention. Neither Catholics nor Protestants nor Orthodox are immune to this problem. It will be up to the Lord to separate the wheat from the (lots and lots of) chaff on judgment day. Our job is to share the Gospel, disciple people, and be lights shining in the dark, dark world.
