Welcome to the first episode of the Demidevlog! 🌟 Let's go down the rabbit hole with a behind the scenes look into the making of my PS2-inspired JRPG experience, drawing inspiration from the golden era with games like Grandia, Persona, Fate Extra and Digital Devil Saga! I grew up with the PS2 (i also had a PS1 but in the PS1 there wasn't any Sonic games or Ben 10) So i always wanted to make something with the PS2 look but i never knew how, most indie games use the N64, PSX and all of that and it's starting to get boring so, seeing this just motivated me even more
Where did you network/find like-minded people to work on projects with? I'd love to make some new friends and a silly lil team,,, I am very passionate about games flidvjrgij
ps2 visual is underrated. proof me wrong
What’s the music in the background from?
how would one go about rehearsing for VO Roles?
what are the shadow and lighting cards you mention here 4:51. quads?
This is exactly what i was looking for! Thank you! It's also lovely to have a tutorial from someone with a fun personality instead of the usual clinical format
I swear, nearly every youtuber gamedev never ends up actually finishing their game. Its a little disheartening. Here's hoping this game doesn't share the same fate.
@DemiDev is there also a Chance, that u are on bluesky Instead of Twitter or x or who cares
Bro must be so leftist to actually make a dude named haruka
you can install ds4windows i use ps5 controller in unreal
lol i'm making a DPRKRpg
The PS2 era is GOATED. I'm working on my own project inspired by PS2/Dreamcast/GameCube graphics
do you still need Voice Actors I would love to voice act this game
i hope the 5 months it took for me to discover this was enough for you to find out you can just use ds4windows to create a virtual xbox controller 🙃
It's pretty faithful to Persona 3, i like that But, is there any tutorial to make something more similar to kingdom hearts and games like that?
Give me devlog or give me death
I came looking for tips on my own game, but this game project is one I'm gonna follow, it looks awesome!
Did you make the character bases/templates yourself, or are they an existing asset you're modifying? I've been struggling to find or make something with a lower poly count that I can use for multiple characters
I hate modern gaming! I don't get that jolly feeling of buying a new game anymore back in the mid 2000s... Is it because I'm old? 😢 I personally love PS1&2 graphics! Graphics doesn't make a great game, I was ignorant by that fact, but it's true!
InputMapper emulate Xbox controller
Magic-S Pro 2 - This is how I get my PS4 controller to work in Unreal.
Why not godot though ? Genuine question
Love it!!!!
Nice
Holy moly all this could be avoided with therapy lol the best descripting I've heard of SH2
lmao he put the pronouns next to his teammate's names. what a fucking joke edit: th-cam.com/video/-joK9domY_s/w-d-xo.html
What’s the link for?
Oh hell yeah. Earlier this year, I wanted to do exactly this and make a game in Unreal with PS2 graphics, but I couldn't find any good resources on how to do it, and quickly gave up. I didn't really know what to look for outside of that one video on TH-cam of that guy talking about his horror game project, and it was rough. Especially because I felt like an idiot asking anyone for help. This is a really nice place to start, if I ever want to pick that project up again.
i'm ngl using steam input to work in UE is banger of an idea
Also, you should try having more PS2-like font rendering with text, which i think just consists of using aliased characters akin to standard definition resolution. It's what most if not all PS2 era games used
This channel is a hidden gem
cool i also wante to make a ps2 aesthetic game, good luck
7:10 hang on serious question, why would you switch to krita? i started on krita and then went to CSP it's a vastly more capable program
2:06 I don't seem to understand this section...
I love when games r made with older visuals and modern mechanics. There's so many quality of life improvements that can make old games even more amazing.
I'm hoping you guys cast soon because i'd love to try applying for a role.
i am searching for ps2 era graphics tutorials, but it seems that people liked way more PS1 graphics :(
have u released the music snywhere????? i beg
these character models are incredibly cute. I'd love a more full look at how you go about making them. most tutorials are either low poly or too high fidelity
why does philozoid's voice sound ai generated?
I'd like to see more PS2 era style tutorials in your dev logs
Especially great to hear how you built this team, that's the hardest part sometimes.
That uhhh vertex shading (?) looks similar to some of the stuff in half life 2, maybe im misremembering. Either way i hate thinking about programming but this was a nice video thank you
Oh nice, another small game dev channel to subscribe to
Very inspiring for a fellow game dev! great job so far :D
