Showing how to set up to make a loop and cycle barnacle buster through the engine. Fairly simple process with minimal tools required. Saves the re/re of taking the heat exchangers, oil cooler and after coolers off to have cleaned.
great video brochure
Higher resolution would be great
these videos are pretty useless unless you have a link to the complete information and pricing
guess it depends if you are a buyer or looker...lol
Nice..but what year?..I have a 88 Avanti..2955
Where did you get sinking paracord. I can't find that anywhere online? This setup looks neat.
Where can you buy one? And what is the price to make one if you cant buy in a store?
Great video, thanks for sharing! Do you know the ID size on both hose ends?
Hi Shawn, I just made a video where I used a similar product to clean my props. It was much cheaper than Barnacle Buster and I bought it at Lowe’s. Nice video… I need to run it through my generator next… Mike
Thanks for posting
Hey there is more than dos camerones.
so remove impeller and put cap back on, run that hose to the bucket for complete loop? thanks for any info
wouldn't it have been easier, especially if your reverse engineering it from the heat exchanger raw water output , to have just taken the hose off the bottom of the aftercooler and not mess with the raw water pump at all? Seems like a whole lot of additional work to remove the impeller only to have the flush come out the bottom of the raw water pump that then goes to the sea strainer
Hi. Can you specify what marine bilge pump did you switch to? GPH, make and model?
Different pump?
Nevermind I finished watching, why did the regular sump not work?
I notice you said you removed the zincs but they seemed to be still installed?
You leave the brass plugs in once you spin out the zincs. So yes they look like they are still in but they are not.
Thanks for Sharing Shawn!!
Great video Shawn.
Excellent, honest video! Curious if you have any filtration to keep from reindroducing contaminates into the engine. I will try this fun tin the forward direction.
Thanks for the speedy reply Shawn. Did you have to remove the motor mount bracket to remove the pump or did you go from the front end and pull the gear off? TIA
Hi Shawn. Helpful info thank you. You mentioned in the video that you replaced your water pumps two years ago. Do you have a video from that repair?
Unfortunately I did not record the water pump change. I did replace the original Sherwood pumps with Sea Max pumps and have had zero issues ever since. The Sherwood ones seemed to weep after only a short time. Nice upgrade I would recommend.
Neat white vinegar works really well too. I place one section of effected hose directly into the bucket so I can see how well the calcium deposits have dissolved so i know when to stop for the rest of the engine that I cannot see.
any data on whether your equipment ran cooler after the flush?
Yes, the areas that I could see metal were very clean. I did both engines and my Westerbeke generator too. We had a great cruising season last year with no issues whatsoever. Like I say in the video, I had taken my heat exchanger, oil cooler and aftercoolers off about 4 years prior and serviced them. If you do not know the history on your engines I would recommend this. Once you have a track record the barnacle Buster is a great option that works well, saves time and money.
Shawn nice video, is this a Bayliner (Meridian) 4788 (490) if so i just purchased one, 03 Meridian.. I wondered did she run cooler?
So how did it go. Did you notice a difference?
OTC 4521 hose removal tool off Amazon. I have seen them at automotive supply shops too. Good luck.
Hi Shawn - what is the name of that hook tool that you used on the hose?
