It worked a bit! Thanks for watching.
Sad how people treat equipment. It will shine up, going to be expensive. St.Paul,Minnesota.
It turned out pretty nice in the end. Was a very nice car. Thanks for watching.
The cool thing about about it is.. back in that cars day somebody at one time or another loaded up the family to go watch that man drive that car go around a dirt track
That is very true! Thanks for watching.
Good car fix up.and paint
Thanks for watching!
What part ohio you in
I live around the Wooster area.
Crazy that it started that quick
It was an easier one for sure. Got lucky.
I've just come across your channel I love the car stuff & long episodes and you've got both right here looking forward to watching more 💯👍🏻

Thank you so much!
I've just found this channel as well 2 days later 👍🏻
@ thank you!
Overall, this refurb went really well.. not too many glitches as one can find with 60 year old cars.. paint came up pretty nicely, considering the condition she was in. Nice Job on it man..
Thanks man , and thanks for watching!
Wow the Power washing came out great...
Thanks!
Ive got one like this myself... other than that quarter panel, your body is in good shape there.. These cars are so prone to rust, it;s actually pretty impressive.. Chrome and stuff looks like it will clean up nicely.. I need to do floor pans and stuff in the package tray area before I sand an paint. Loved this video. can wait to see the process of it..
Thanks for watching! I have several more videos out on the progress of this car. Check them out if you like. Car was sold to a gentleman who is going to fully restore it. And that’s what the previous owner wanted exactly.
Restore the paint job completely .. 🖤💯
Would be for the best
@@Memorylanemotorworks Exactly!! 💯
I must of not been paying attention I don’t remember him replacing the oil and filter and new rotor cap new plugs and wires and fuel filters OR MAYBE HE WANTS TO WAIT UNTIL HE NEEDS A NEW STARTER After all it has not been started in 50 plus years
Tune up done, thanks.
They just don’t have the resale value to bring it back original but RESTOMODS bring much better returns
I agree
If it was mine I would be looking for a 5.0 mustang engine and a manual transmission
We will see what happens , it’s a really good runner as is. Thanks for watching!
I was just thinking about 2 seat Thunderbird the other day. It seems like when I was a kid, back in the 1980s, these cars had almost a legendary status. They were everywhere on TV and movies, always presented as well restored at car shows, were priced out of reach in any condition (for those times), and were generally the kind of car you couldn’t afford and only dreamed about. I am not sure exactly when it happened, but it seemed as though one day they kind of disappeared from the American consciousness. You didn’t see them on movies and TV that much anymore and, slowly, they no longer seemed to appear at car shows as much, either. Lately, I have even starting seeing rougher car for sale for under $6k. It seems like only the oldest generations in the antique car community seem to still hold them in the highest regard. I really don’t understand why they have not started gaining in both value and collectability? Especially the ‘57, which I always found to be the sleekest of the three years!
Hey Brian , thanks for the comment. I think the value and collectibility of these cars circles back to one thing , the generation of folks who enjoyed this car and grew up with it are getting older and passing on. I think it goes for every car in this era and genre. It’s a sad thing for sure. A little part of what I’m trying to do is bring the spotlight back to these older rigs in an attempt to make them a thing again! Thanks for watching.
Sounds good, hope your problems are resolved.😊
Thanks! Car ran great. Thanks for watching.
Why’s the owners manuals say Tempest and the car says Gran Prix am I missing something here.
I believe it was a generic owners manual for the 66 model year cars.
I am a new subscriber, and I want to give you my sincere condolences for the loss of your father. My father is very close to me, and he has a 56 bird. He has had it since 1987, and we got it from Amos Minter. Even though it was restored when he got it he decided to blow it all apart and do it again. It’s been a member of our family since, and his baby! I have turned many a wrench on that car with him, and my favorite times are with him and that car.
Thank you so much. That’s a great story. Good luck with your project and thank you for subscribing!!
To much talk not enough work
😂. It’s coming! Will be back on the channel here soon. Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed this video. I bought a 57 baby bird 4 years .I had been took care of good shape fun to drive. Good luck on your Dad's , fun to drive...I'll be watching for update. update. Steve
Thanks for watching Steve! Hope to get back on this project here soon.
That black stuff in your fuel filter is your rubber line getting eaten away from that Obama gas!!!
You are absolutely right! Thanks for watching.
Nice just bought one of these with an original 400 small block. Troubleshooting a back fire on mines so will reference this video.
Thanks for watching and good luck with your project!
Thats weird, my 66 Grand Prix has a factory tach located to the left of the steering wheel and usually the center location of your tach is a vacuum gauge. I have a 389 4bbl with auto center shift. I love my car and it also has 8 lug wheels, less than 52 K., pwr. windows including the vent or cigarette windows, and a electronic hood release. Thanks for your tips.
Thanks for watching!
You can cut down the output shaft. Friend of mine has an atlas t-case bolted to an orginal 2wd trans. I knew 1st gen 80-90s were tricky... but dam. 2nd gens are awesome... 2013 to current - dam near the same 🤙
Thanks for the info!

It will take time. But. It will be worth. Nice car .I Really like it
Thank you!
Awesome rescue !
Thank you!
I have a '56 with the 312 and 4 barrel with 3 speed fordomatic transmission Happily I changed out the carb for a newer holley squarebore as the original 4000 teapot was crap Runs great now with everything new underneath but it drove like a waterbed, swaybars front and rear with beefed up rear leaf springs makes it nice The continental spare is a PITA so a full spare and hydraulic jack in the trunk Going to cut the floor pan and add a tire well for more room Fun to drive everyone loves it Getting 15-17 mpg and she only likes the high octane Check the valvetrain as known to plug up. Gotta run zinc oil for solid lifters and put in electric fan for summer traffic Good luck with yours!! Nice when I see another on the road 👌!!
Thanks and thanks for watching! I will take all of that into consideration. Excited to get back on that project and get some more content out too.

This is Nathen I like your videos I’m your biggest fan your doing a great job keep up the good work I sound like an usually but I’m serious
Thank you buddy!
Commented on your first vid. Keep it going fella. If you ever have questions on the car, you are more than welcome to get ahold of me.
Thank you! I appreciate it.
I have owned 12 55, 56, 57 Thunderbirds. Yes, all at once. Was a project of my fathers and mine. I think I have wrenched every single nut and bolt on the first gen. It is worth restoring, if possible, just from a historical standpoint. As always, the story is worth keeping as well. In stock form, they are pretty...well interesting to drive( difficult ) especially if you are not small enough to get your legs under the steering wheel. If anyone else has driven one you know what I mean. Good luck on the project fella. It's a diamond in the rough.
Thank you! Yes it’s certainly a fun car to get in and out of. Looking forward to getting back on it. Appreciate the comment and you watching!
Enjoyed the video! I have the same thing going on. I have a 57 Thunderbird that has been sitting since 1966. It was my uncles who left it to my dad and other uncle when he passed. They are all gone now and I have the car. I’m rebuilding the 4160 Holley right now and hope to start the car up in the next few months. Good luck with your project!
Thank you! Good luck with yours as well!

Good job dude Good video
Thank you!
Man i want this car!!!
It was a nice one! Thanks for watching.
If you want to sell it hit me up!!!!!!!!
Very nice video. I got my first 1956 T'bird in 1969. Sold it in 1971. Bought two more '55s and sold them also. In 1977 I bought another '56 that was in storage from 1966 to 1977. I restored the car to driver condition and it has been with me since. I have driven the car for 47 years. It has won many trophies. My car is a plain-jane with no options except the radio and the windshield wash. I wish that I would have kept the girl who was with me in 1969 when I brought my first Bird (as your Dad did). Thanks again.
Thanks for watching and interesting story!
What I have encountered, at least where I live, the judges will pick an "all original" or unrestored / modified car over one that an owner has modified for comfort. Most of the trophies I won were for my 14k original mile Peacock Blue factory air California car ( un restored ) and my 57 Flame Red all original ( unrestored ). I have won over other cars that were "cleaner" but modified in one way or another or had frame off restorations. Most experienced judges will look at those small details and things you just cant reproduce in a restoration.
@@Chuck.S. that is my goal , leave as much original as I can. At least cosmetically. Would like to see how the original paint comes back to life , where it hasn’t been ground down for rust repair. Coming up in the future for sure!
@@Memorylanemotorworks I think you will do great fella. Off to a good start. I am working on one of my old 55's next weekend that the guy who we sold it to contacted me. Had some work done to it, but many things need to be fixed.
