Please lets have more great videos your getting me back in to fly fishing need help with my casting now think your rods and lines are for me .
@@raymondmossman4019 thanks for the positive comment! I’ll be filming again once the rivers drop here in the north of England! Thanks again Jack
good to see all that hard work in development come good top rod
Just a 6wt rod or are there other line Wts too ?
Hi mark, more rods and weigh being designed at the moment. They should be available in around 6 months! Thanks Jack
I was lucky to have a cast of one of these earlier this year with Jack and it was so easy to use with his SGT line. It really is high performing. I think they are coming out early next year
how much? and where
They will be with me in around 6weeks! Sub £300 delivered. Thanks Jack
What is your rod called, can’t find it on your web site
👏
If I may ask, what rod and wt rod are you using? Thank you.
@@wschield608 hi, the rod is a 9,6 #6 prototype that I have designed for Taylormade!
Thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it. If it were just the arrow I’d be first in line to order one. Unfortunately that’s not the case. Thanks for sharing the color change rule. It took me a long time to realize that. My go to line is one of Lee Wulff’s. It’s a single color so I color a 2’ section at that point. Even so an 80’ cast is only a pipe dream but it’s great to watch someone who knows what they are doing. Take care
exellent
Your casting skills are amazing and your instruction style is excellent. Wish I lived close enough for a lesson or two.
Wet your hands before handling the fish
Can you please specify your outfit (kit?) as rigged from the reel to the tippet for a five weight rod fishing dry flies (#16 thru #20) on a larger tailwater river with occasional windy conditions? I am most interested in your leader setup to get that lovely turnover.
I fish 12ft tapered leaders down to 4ft of tippet. Always Copolymer when fishing dries! Fluorocarbon when fishing sub surface. i don't use tippet rings at all, double surgeons knot when joining the tapered leader and tippet together! Thanks Jack
Makes a nice change from the constant diet of euro nymphing. And you don't have to rush out and spend another fortune on the must have kit. Great👍
So true, too much BS in fly fishing.
Thanks for the nice comment. Fly fishing doesn't need overthinking!
Great vid!!
I want one.
Glad you mentioned about salmon spawning. Folk need educated not to walk on spawning ground.. Great video mate 🎣
Thankyou! hopefully it makes people think!
Very nice , i want to get into grayling fishing on the tweed this winter. Where is that ? It looks like Yorkshire maybe the Wharfe.
@@donaldthomson9411 thanks! I’m in Lancashire fishing a tributary of the ribble. I’ve had some amazing grayling out of the teviot! So me amazing graying that hardly get fished for. Jack

Nice, one a bung nearly James 👌👍🤣
Hi Jack, well done on a very good video , a nice bit of river as well as mild weather , I have tried to take advantage of our bit of good weather but I think it's all about to change.
@@fieldsman3307 cold snap coming next week! Best wet a line this weekend! Cheers
Nice video jack. Like you say, dont overthink it. Keep it simple. I want to give it a go
Can you use this cast if you wanted to cast to a further upstream target?
@@bobnorman5269 you can! I often use it when casting back upstream using indicators.
What are your strategies when using various kinds of sink tips with your lines (Presentation line and SGT line)? How heavy / long do you prefer you sink tips? I am a single handed speyer (10ft 7wt) targeting sea trout and salmon.
@@myoung5038 hi! With the presentation line I only fish it as a full float without tips! As for the SGT I used tips from 5/8ft. Trout tips, they are the same sink rate but lower diameter. Sink slightly more in moving water!
Very interesting video mate!
Where are you selling this rod and line ?
@@wallace500001 Hi, the line is already online at www.taylormadeflyfish.com The rods will be with me in a couple of months! Thank
another top vid good point about through action rods not losing has many fish especially these days of barbless hooks i look forward to trying the new rods
Where i lived in the US trout spey was quite popular for trout and smallmouth bass. OPST are the benchmark over there. Its good for swinging micro streamers on jig hooks. A black or olive marabou leech was deadly over there. You can nymph them upstream then swing them.
Good video very interesting
Really enjoyed and thanks for the insight...👍
Beautiful casting, do you use your lower hand more than the top on the forward stroke?
@@paulhoughland8505 I do. But it’s depends on the head length I’m using. 38ft and under I try to keep movements to a minimum!
Another brilliant video and explanation 👍👌👏
I love my Taylormade integrated Scandi line with that sweet running line❤🔥🔥🔥
Loving your vids thanks! I just took delivery of my first fly line from you too... excited to try it out
Love your videos
Nice fish. I like the holster idea. I don’t see the finesse indicator line online btw.
I've just bought a finesse line and mine didn't have an indicator on it - is the finesse indicator a different line ?
Recommendations for a 11’3”, 3wt trout Spey rod?
Hi! Is it a full floating line or a line to carry a sink tip you’d like? Thanks!
Nice video and great to watch you casting from this perspective. Seems like you are facing the very same conditions like we do in our river "Rur" here in western Germany. Cormorants destroyed the ecosystem around here completely 10 years ago or so, and now there are almost no greylings anymore left.
Another excellent video James 👌👍
Cool video, quick question @taylormadeflyfish. How long's the leader on the setup?
@@andreasnoro2127 thanks! I usually use at least a 12ft tapered leader on floating lines!
@ cool, thanks for the answer. how low do you go on sinking lines ? :)
thanks for another top demo your lines have made fishing a lot less of a workout
Recently bought the line, amazing..
Thanks for the nice comment!
Smart video James 👍👌
Thank you! Great demonstration.
Do you do a 9 weight line ,that line looks great .👌👍
Hi do you do a 9 weight ?
They will be back in stock late december! thanks
@TaylorMadeFlyFish Thanks for getting intouch is there any chance you could let me know when you have them in stock cheers. 👍
@ yes no problem! I have the same line for the single hand rods in stock. I’ll let you know when the double hand lines come in! Tight lines Jack
Excellent video and information.
Now can you show adding a haul to the single spey. You will have to change your camera angle to show the timing of your haul in relation to your forward cast off the anchor set.
Hi Jack, have you got a link to your website please I watch your videos 👍🎣
Hi! The link is below the video, thanks!
How are you making your dry fly leaders, taper?
@@garynicholson2855 hi, I would tie in 6ft of 3x then 6ft of 6x. The two different diameters add taper! Around 8/9lb down to 3/4lb. Tight lines Jack
Soft coating, thin diameter, durability?
Excellent video James, do you sell the running line for salmon lines?
@@langavatsy9304 I don’t I’m afraid. I only do fully intergrated salmon lines! Back in stock in December. Thanks
