Jason Lytle - Most of the Time
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Cover of the Bob Dylan track of the same name, off "Oh Mercy" - From Jason Lytle (Grandaddy frontman) Earlier in 2020 the streaming I was halfway listening to played me this song. I knew it was his voice, but the production was dreamier than I was used to hearing in his songs. Then I handed in on the words and I was extra perplexed. I became obsessed. The song blew me away; it's like it came ou...
The Flaming Lips - Lay Lady Lay
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Cover of the Bob Dylan track of the same name, off "Nashville Skyline." - From Waynes Coyne: (Flaming Lips frontman) I think every songwriter loves this type of 'romantic' Bob Dylan song - he really can be very charming. That line "whatever colors you have in your mind/I show them to you and you see them shine...' It's the type of wordplay, though it seems kind of like jumbled surrealism, that ...
Weyes Blood - Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands
มุมมอง 90K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Cover of the the Bob Dylan track of the same name, off the album "Blonde on Blonde." - Produced by Natalie Mering at 64 Sound, Los Angeles - Engineered by Andrew Sarlo and Kenny Gilmore - Performed by Natalie Mering, Josh Adams, Eliana Athayde, Drew Erickson
Lyrics: [Verse 1] With your mercury mouth in the missionary times And your eyes like smoke and your prayers like rhymes And your silver cross, and your voice like chimes Oh, who do they think could bury you? With your pockets well protected at last And your streetcar visions which ya place on the grass And your flesh like silk, and your face like glass Who could they get to carry you? [Chorus] Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands Where the sad-eyed prophet says that no man comes My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums Should I put them by your gate? Or, sad-eyed lady, should I wait? [Verse 2] With your sheets like metal and your belt like lace And your deck of cards missing the jack and the ace And your basement clothes and your hollow face Who among them can think he could outguess you? With your silhouette when the sunlight dims Into your eyes where the moonlight swims And your matchbook songs and your gypsy hymns Who among them would try to impress you? [Chorus] Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands Where the sad-eyed prophets say that no man comes My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums Should I put them by your gate? Or, sad-eyed lady, should I wait? [Verse 3] The kings of Tyrus with their convict list Are waiting in line for their geranium kiss And ya wouldn't know it woulda happened like this But who among them really wants just to kiss you? With your childhood flames on your midnight rug And your Spanish manners and your mother's drugs And your cowboy mouth and your curfew plugs Who among them do ya think could resist you? [Chorus] Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands Where the sad-eyed prophets say that no man comes My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums Should I leave them by your gate? Or, sad-eyed lady, should I wait? [Verse 4] Oh, the farmers and the businessmen, they all did decide To show you where the dead angels are that they used to hide But why did they pick you to sympathize with their side? How could they ever mistake you? They wished you’d accepted the blame for the farm But with the sea at your feet and the phony false alarm And with the child of the hoodlum wrapped up in your arms How could they ever have persuaded you? [Chorus] Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands Where the sad-eyed prophets say that no man comes My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums Should I leave them by your gate? Or, sad-eyed lady, should I wait? [Verse 5] With your sheet-metal memory of Cannery Row And your magazine-husband who one day just had to go And your gentleness now, which you just can't help but show Who among them do you think would employ you? Now you stand with your thief, you're on his parole With your holy medallion and your fingertips now that fold And your saintlike face and your ghost-like soul Who among them could ever think it could destroy you? [Chorus] Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands Where the sad-eyed prophet say that no man comes My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums Should I leave them by your gate? Or, sad-eyed lady, should I wait? [Instrumental Outro]
I found the singing monotonous and lacking in dynamics. Joan interprets the lyrics better.
This is easily the best cover of the song out there
Weyes is absolutely unreal and knows her niche, very few of those rn
🧚♀️So nice very much so.🎶❤💕
Sounds a bit like Baez
This is great. Like the way old skool organ, drums and bass are largely unadorned.
This is just wonderful. Such an emotive reading of a timeless lyric.
Weyes cantando Bob Dylan, que fantástico!!!!
M I’m i❤😢😊
Who ever disliked i wanna talk to ! Sydney Australia 🦘🦘🦘 28/3/2024😊
Brilliant
Really nice.
How you can make such a beautiful performance of the best love song ever recorded (along with Shelter from the Storm?). This hynotic recording honored the astonishing crescent music chords on every verse and the incredible masterful phrasing a monument of lyrics deserve. Fantastic sounds and voice delivery. Thank you for your performance and talent from this humble songwriter. Beauty is to be the wave after catching it.
What’s “canary row”?!
This was the first song by Dylan that I fell in love with. Weyes Blood always made me think of this song and now here she is singing it!
8:05 incidentally, it was originally Cannery Row, not Canary Row
Why isn’t this on Spotify?
PERFECT except she sings "canary row" instead of Cannery Row :( Someone with tech-expertise please fix it!
Unfuckingreal
I love Bob Dylan, but good lord is Natalie such a better vocalist.
i love that she was included with some serious legends on this comp. she absolutely belongs amongst them.
I agree. I just got a ticket to see her, and I am trying to explain that she is a modern master to my friend.
I desperately need this on vinyl. Probably would need a 10" to fit it on one side though.
i lov this so much💔💔
Damn, bitch, You ever gonna resolve those chords? (Tee-hee).
Young lady with a beautiful vintage voice
This is awesome ty
Heard this on uncut cd that came with the magazine and it just blew me away. I wish it was available as a download - one of my all-time fav Dylan songs on one of the best ever covers of any of his songs. Simply stunning and beautiful version.
is there a way to buy these recordings if you didn't get the magazine?
Have you heard Odetta sings Dylan?
This is why I love music. Sometimes It happens.
holy fuck best vocalist of the fucking century.
Ahh thanks for this! Didn't realize this existed until now, and it's full of that Titanic Rising sound....real pity Eliana Athayde isn't in her current touring band, with those terrific backing vocals.
Better than Dylan's
No.
@@auramac yes
Obviously the bar is set very high for Dylan covers, but to my ears Natalie raises it somewhat here. Superb to the very last second.
Cannery Road???
Cannery Row It's a novel by John Steinbeck
Love her voice. Great song.
Magnificent
This incredible song was sung live at my college graduation. I will never forget!
Just so BEAUTIFUL ♥️♥️
I wish Iron & Wine (artist) would be on one of these cover records.

Wonderful fantastic cover!! Amazing!! Thank you so much for this!
This is more of a cover of Joan Baez's cover of the song. Very nice but nothing new.
This is a good cover but gotta say I prefer this more delicate version.th-cam.com/video/6W2S9MiBTsM/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1

Lord they know some do. That we are the angels trapped in these host bodies of flesh for taken the bait from who use to be our master but there is only one that it faithful and true Jesus the Lord God of hosts El the Almighty.
