I'm not as excited about the switch 2 as I was about the switch 1 but I'm still looking forward to it. I'll probably wait a year after it releases but if they decide to do a new animal crossing or new Mario kart I may get it sooner.

The switch e shop is genuinely awful I don't think I've ever used it and had it not lag or stutter. It also feels soulless compared to nintendos previous online stores the wii u 3ds and Wii were all charming.

For me my biggest story of the year was CDPR giving Cyberpunk to another company to continue to update it because it means that we might finally have New Game plus 😂😂 it's the only thing I need for the game to be perfect I NEED IT 😅😂

i just think everyone is missing the point of something like the ds, the psp, and even the vita. they had games designed for them not trying to force a console game to run on a handheld. like i dont expect gta 5 to look as good on my steam deck than i do my pc. im willing to take a hit to performance just to have it in my hands on the go. trying to get ps5 or series x performance in a handheld will most likely take a decade to accomplish. I miss the days of the ds or even the psp something really small and portable while i love my steam deck i still find it annoying to tote around. i would rather the rumored handheld to be phone size or maybe a little bigger even if that means games dont look as good. if i had to pick i would 100 percent take my ds or psp on a trip far more than something large and cumbersome like a steam deck or any of the other big handhelds.

I doubt it will be a war. Not wven a struggle. I left consoles behind simply because steam is the superior way to play games. As for retro(which is most of what im personally into) i just ordered an rg406v. These gaming companies forgot about us monetarily challenged individuals who would rather play retro games without spending 400$ for a switch.....same games we already own....but now on a much better device

I could imagine Sony splitting up the power required to play ps5 games on their next portable. For example, patch the games so that they run well and easily at 1080p 60fps on their next psp and when you're at home they could have a dock setup that can provide extra gpu power via an oculink port or thunderbolt.

Can someone explain to me why nintendo gave up on the 3DS technology? Why dont' we have 3D tv screens or better 3D without glasses since the 3DS came out like 15 years ago?

I don't think that the xbox handheld would be a success if it had steam or epic the steamdeck isn't a massive success even with steam giving another storefront acess seems like just losing sales.

A major problem that both handhelds have is that the technology for a 9th gen handheld is simply not there yet, not only does it simply not fit in a small handheld, but the battery is not there yet, even the Steam deck and the rog ally have difficulty with most games that are big graphically, so those two consoles are 4 or 5 years away if Sony and Microsoft fans are lucky. Another problem for those two is that DVDs don't fit at all in a handheld, so they have to either switch to game cards like Nintendo did or make it an all digital console, so all your Physical games you have for the PS5 and Xbox series cannot be played on those two handheld without cloud streaming. And they have the Steam deck and the rog ally and other PC handhelds as competitors, which will probably get some new more powerful models between now and the time that the Sony and Microsoft handhelds are released, and the Switch 2 will have a 4 or 5 year head start , so the competition is the highest it has ever been

I just want a way to stream my pc over to a handheld. No hand held could be as powerfull as my pc. The issue is just bad connection.

Streaming is where the industry is heading. Like... you and I are used to having our own hardware, but In a decade or two, most young people will find it really weird that people would have an entire box at home to do something, that you could just stream to your screen (tv, tablet, smartphone or whatever else might come out in the future). Like a lot of people don't even have DVD/Bluray-players anymore because netflix/disney/prime exists. You talking about your video game collection in 10-20 years will basically sound like people now if they talk about their music cd-collection or their DVD collection. PC gaming (and consoles) might be healthy and popular now, but it will be swept up by the masses being content with playing games like CoD with a controller streaming it via their smart TV through xbox cloud or whatever. The technology is basically there. Stadia might not have been successful but it already had the technology -> the stadia controller was connected directly to your router, which ment input-latency was much lower than when your button press is first send to your device, and then the device has to send that information to the router. The latency for video games via streaming will likely never be as good as just running the game at home. BUT two things are going to happen: 1. Competitive games will stick to low hardware requirements (as they're already doing) because in 10 years, a smart tv integrated chip is likely going to be able to play current competitive games. No need to get a dedicated gaming device if your Smart TV can already play it. 2. Gamedevs who want to reach the biggest audience will make games that are less sensitive to latency. So there's likely just going to be less games like counter-strike and more games like, say, League of Legends. Not saying that LoL doesn't care for latency but it's less of an advantage compared to twitch reaction shooters. Anything singleplayer with movie like graphics? Why pay 3000+ bucks for a top of the line gaming pc, when you can play your games for 10-20 bucks via a subscription, including... netflix (who also started offering games)? People are already doing that. I bought a 3090 and a 5800x3D a couple years ago and I very much still enjoy my gaming PC. But there's a good chance that in the future I won't have some modern-ish stand alone gaming pc/console. Basically: Nvidea, being the absolute king of graphic cards, having started their own streaming service which utterly competes with their own product line, should be the biggest hint. Nvidea is already prepping.

Nintendo could still mess up by pricing the Switch 2 too high. Closer to $300 is a lot more appealing than $400. Especially if its still a device seen as something for younger crowds. Yes it will sell at $400 but $300 is much closer to that impulse buy territory. Quest 3S really appealing to a lot of Quest 2 owners for example.

This is not going to be a race let alone a war. Nintendo are doing their own bs. And then there’s Valve with their Steam Deck. What are Xbox and PlayStation going to add to that conversation? Absolutely nothing they just want to roll into the hype of the handhelds. But anything those systems do the steam deck does it better anyway. I promise you… if those systems are going to be closed and not open like the steam deck. There’s no competition. Just spending money for the sake of spending money. Good luck with that with the upcoming depression x2.

there bigger news with valve, way better then handheld but it does involve with it. Since steamOS will be available soon for handheld for free also possible desktop they will compete with windows, honestly windows have been way to comfortable violation our private rights with the new up coming windows 11 with there new ai spyware to watch our every move 24/7

I still prefer my Xbox and TV but it's good to see companies giving players more options. Also being able to play Skyrim on the go was the main reason I purchased my switch back in the day.
