    This was an interesting episode, thank you for sharing your experience! Beyond just the language issue I am also bothered by how neither side of the abortion debate seems to think much about how the whole thing affects people who suffer miscarriages. I’ve also found it interesting how the terms is used differently in other languages. I learned that in Spanish the common term for miscarriage is “aborto espontáneo”. In France where I’m from, while we do often use the term “avortement” to talk about termination, we also commonly use “IVG” (which stands for voluntary interruption of pregnancy), and this is both the medical term and the term frequently used in more official settings including political debates

    • @UndefiningMotherhood
      @UndefiningMotherhood 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel like we’re talking about it in terms of miscarriage and TFMR a lot more recently only because legislation is really negatively impacting that kind of care. But I agree, that has historically been completely ignored, and is still something many people don’t understand! So much more of a message to spread there.

    • @UndefiningMotherhood
      @UndefiningMotherhood 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@theearthling8178 For me, it took more like 9 months. BUT--I didn't advocate for myself strongly enough. They didn't want to give me vaginal valium because I was nursing, and that was honestly the thing I desperately needed. I tried pelvic pt and a pelvic wand some, but wasn't regular with it. Once I stopped nursing and they gave me the valium suppositories, the muscles released rapidly and things were back to normal within maybe 6 weeks. I should've pushed harder to get them earlier. But if you're not actively nursing, that won't be a problem. Also, I had a hypertonic pelvic floor before, which I don't know if you have. I also had a completely detached muscle they had to reattach, which made my recovery much worse than expected. So more than likely, your recovery will be quicker and easier than mine, and if you do get a really right pelvic floor as a result, you can likely also get your urogyn to support medical interventions that'll really help PT.

    The “Old Maids” scheme reminded me of a museum I visited in Montreal called Maison St. Gabriel, where young and mostly poor women were shipped from France to marry the heavily male population in the 1680’s. The museum was a school for teaching them how to be a good wife and mother in the new world. It was very physically demanding. They kept some pretty invasive statistics on them like how many were married and to what social class, where they pregnant or not, it was shocking! Also shocking - how many loaves of bread the average French person ate in a day! Just the baking alone would take up the whole darn day. Great episode!!!❤

    Hi there, could you still get pregnant and have another baby after surgery?

    • @UndefiningMotherhood

      It's not recommended to have the surgery until you're finished having babies.
