#12 Hansen 6th Ride Steering, Stopping, and Moving Forward off of Rider
Hansen had his 6th ride today. Nate worked on steering, stopping, and moving forward off just the rider (no center person sending him around). This video starts with the steering and stopping at a walk, then at a trot at 4:20. Loping starts at 6:20, with some bucking. The reason this was expected is explained at 8:33. After loping a bit longer, Nate explains the difference when an assistant is in the center of the round pen at 11:30. His old assistant is brought in to send him around, demonstrating the difference in how Hansen goes around. The video ends with discussing the session in further detail. Enjoy!

#11 Hansen Fourth Ride
มุมมอง 1335 ปีที่แล้ว
No bucking from Hansen! This is a short video of his fourth ride because the battery was about to die. He was worked before and after this recording with no issues. He did great! This video shows him loping then some trotting and walking. Good boy, Hansen!
#10 Hansen Third Ride
มุมมอง 2375 ปีที่แล้ว
Hansen's third ride was the other day. He did great! He tried bucking when asking for the lope, but learned quick and never did it again. The explanation of what is about to happen if he bucks is right before the lope is asked for. An explanation of what was done by the rider during the bucking is in more detail after loping both directions. Hansen is learning quick and going to be great! He is...
#9 Hansen Picking up Feet
มุมมอง 3505 ปีที่แล้ว
This video shows Nate's first attempt at picking up Hansen's Feet! Side note: Hansen played the revenge card after his last bath, which is very visible in this video... He will soon learn laying in a mud puddle afterwards just means another bath!
#8 Hansen's First Bath
มุมมอง 2205 ปีที่แล้ว
Here is just a spur of the moment video. Hanson had his first bath!! Nate goes through step by step how to teach a horse to bathe. Hanson did great and was an awesome demonstrator for this video. What a good horse he is turning out to be.

This is video 2 of 2. Again, the wind is a little loud in spots so bear with me
#6 Hansen First Ride Part 1 of 2
มุมมอง 4065 ปีที่แล้ว
This is video 1 of 2, make sure to watch both!! This is Hanson getting saddled and sat on for the first time! Some spots in the video are very windy so you can't hear me talking so I appologize about that. Also, Hanson gets his first bath too! Keep a look out for that video to be posted after these two. Enjoy!
#5 Hansen Lunging
มุมมอง 1765 ปีที่แล้ว
Hansen's first time learning to round-pen and lunge. You definitely see a good look at his personality a few seconds in and again at 1:25! It is also our first time seeing him move through his gaits.. He sure is a pretty mover. It is hard to hear over the wind at the beginning, but it gets better. Was a very blustery day! The recording was on a tripod instead of held by a person, so it does not...
#4 Hansen Flanking, and Introduced to the Saddle and Pad
มุมมอง 1905 ปีที่แล้ว
Hansen had an awesome day today! He was great with being flanked, tarped in the wind, introduced to the saddle pad, and introduced to the saddle.
#3 Hansen vs Tarp
มุมมอง 1635 ปีที่แล้ว
Hansen was a champ with the tarp! At the end of the video, Hansen allows Nate to lay on him... Couldn't resist trying with how well he has been doing.
#2 Hansen Confidence Building Exercises
มุมมอง 2715 ปีที่แล้ว

#24 Indigo Catching Tip and Lunging Part 1 of 2
มุมมอง 9835 ปีที่แล้ว
Video 1 of 2. Today's session started with demonstrating an answer to an online question about catching a horse and did a few daily tasks (brushing, picking out feet...). The ending of this video starts the lunging process in the second video. Be sure to watch video 2 for lunging tips and see how well Indigo does.
#15 Indigo Desensitization Part 1 of 3
มุมมอง 3985 ปีที่แล้ว
Indigo is adjusting quickly to his freshly trimmed feet. Today's session will be posted in three videos because of the length. This is video #1. He was started on a lot more desensitization (Not submission, there is a difference). This starts with the rope being tossed on him (which he is already used to). Similar desensitizing technique with the stick and string (otherwise known as lunge whip,...
#17 Indigo Desensitization Part 3 of 3 w/ Saddle Pad

Your pulling her leg outwards it has to be straight in line with her belly maybe that why she's doing what's she's doing.

Very good, very well explained. I don't know how many times I've seen people grab and pull on the saddle horn to get on. I always grab a handful of mane and gently pull myself up.

I'm fostering an abuse case palomino QH mare ex rodeo mount that has been rough up badly by farriers. She's fear reactive and lashes out in all directions. Her current owner related stories of one farrier who hog tied and threw her and another used a cocktail of 3 tranqs which she punched through. Oddly enough she does allow me to rasp shape her hooves as long as I don't try to pick them up. To get done what really needs to be done I need a Tony Stark Mk46 suit. The mare's reputation has gone far and wide and no farrier in Davie Florida will touch her and given her past experience with a farrier I don't want my charge to be the cause of a farrier's severe injury or death. I'm 71 yrs old and don't bounce we'll anymore and she has connected with me a time or two because I triggered a landmine from her past I didn't know was there. In the 3+ yrs she's been under my care she's gone from being a bomb with a smoldering lit short fuse to being quite sweet natured. People who knew her from before can't believe it's the same horse. She's come a long way and has a way to go yet, but I'm in it for the duration. I'd really love to have Monty Roberts come through my gate and give me the benefit of his life time experience with horses such as the one I have.

I am trying a different way with my foal. I am teaching him to ground tie and to stand still before lifting a leg. It’s much easier than trying to hold up half a horse while it hops around.

The toughest ones for me are the ones who whip their front feet forward...so hard to hang on to! And also the ones who whip their feet away quickly behind and then kick out. I find hotter horses like Arabs and Thoroughbreds tend to do that more. I am also a farrier.

When you're training them to stand to be shod, grab them right by the end of the toe. Lifting the front foot, keep your head pointed toward the front of the horse and it may prevent you from being tagged by the rear hoof if he uses it to go after a fly!!

It's a damn shame that the first owners just gave up and gave him away to a second home, and the second home gave him away, and so forth until he was finally rescued. Humans have failed him too many times. Pretty obvious that the first owners who bought him just did so because of his coloring, and not taking into account the fact that he is an older stallion. I would never attempt to gentle a wild older stallion, they are far too much of a challenge compared to gentling a younger colt. For the good of your horse, gentle them as soon as you can people! It's important to get them gentled so they don't have to endure having such long hooves, or possibly suffer health issues that you can't fix because they aren't gentled yet. It's sick that he was obviously neglected. It makes you wonder what kind of people make a heavy decision to own a horse, and fail to do anything with them. Not even to feed them properly?!?! Sorry for my rambling, but this makes me angry. Thank goodness he was rescued and he can have another chance at a good life.

Hay packed, really tight into a metal wall frame (like they do at my barn) is very hard to pull out and it seems like it stresses their neck muscles and Poll.

Ive found a pair of pants and a shoe. When I went to complain he was laughing because a horse died from eating his food. I just left and never went back. Also why would you break up the food in the dirt instead of in the barrel they eat out of. You are just adding rocks and sand. Also that hay looks like crap....it looks like cow hay not alfafa or bermuda. Teff is the best if you can get it.

You are holding the hoof too high. The lower to start the safer the horse feels. In your promo run at start I see you bronc riding a horse. That means the time needed for the horse to be ready for the saddle or you was not taken and you are teaching a horse to buck. That's fine if you are a Rodeo rider. If the horse ejects the rider it was just taught to get relief of pressure by ejecting the rider. This can then become a habit. . I thought when I clicked on you were going to teach me something.
