for some reason when I add the hard shadow, and hit print the page comes up and the hard shadow is not displayed and doesn't print with the font. Is there anything I can do to get it to print correctly?

So easier to put the grid on your slide (view Tab) , use powerpoint tools to center and align everything, and take size of your letter to draw your last rectangles. Deceiving tutorial.
