Lo! God is here! let us adore (Metropolitan Tabernacle)
Sung during the Sunday worship at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, London (Spurgeon's).
Hymn 684 from our hymn book, Psalms & Hymns of Reformed Worship.
Our hymn book can be purchased here: bit.ly/324AzVS and the accompanying tune book can be purchased here: bit.ly/2OdXaqA.
LO! God is here! let us adore,
And own how holy is this place!
Let all within us feel His power,
And silent bow before His face;
To know His power, His grace to prove,
Praise Him with awe and reverent love.
Lo! God is here! Whom day and night
The united choirs of angels sing:
To Him, enthroned above all height,
Heaven’s hosts their noblest praises bring:
Disdain not, Lord, our meaner song,
Who praise Thee with a stammering tongue!
Being of beings, may our praise
Thy courts with grateful fragrance fill;
Still may we stand before Thy face,
Still hear and do Thy sovereign will:
To Thee may all our thoughts arise,
Ceaseless, accepted sacrifice.
Author: Gerhard Tersteegen (1697-1769) tr.
Tune: Surrey
Composer: Henry Carey (c.1687-1743)

I love the way the congregation sings this! I love this tune!
Thank you very much for this wonderful hymn of William Gadsby. It was sung at his funeral by 2000 people. Greetings to the Metropolitan Tabernacle from Germany. I remember our visit there years ago. The LORD bless you.
God is soo wonderful
What comfort, what conviction!
Such eternal truth
❤
Uplifting and refreshing
Great Church, history and spirituality
I trust in You and You alone Almighty God and do not allow me to be put to shame.
Such truth in those words, By Grace and his mercy, Heaven to look forward to
Glory to God
This is a very beautiful and loving hymn.

I remember this hymn being sung in Church years ago. My parents were there as well.
Of cause you may. I’m in Australia. In Sydney
We all trust him all about our love
We at all times not be ashamed to own our Lord. at all times. He’s the Lily of the Valley our bright and morning star. fairest of 10,000 to my soul.
This adoring hymn was sung many years ago. They don’t sing them in Church today.
Oh Lord None of self, and all of Thee.
This hymn spoke to my heart last night at The Metropolitan Tabernacle. Peter Masters preached on Romans 6:12 ‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.’
Know how to sing!!!
Boy, does this congregation now how to sing, and the organist, wonderful !!😅😅
I looked to Jesus and I found in Him my star, my sun.
LORD I come to you today, Just as I am.
Loved this hymn since my childhood.
I love this hymn!
Aaaaaaaaamen iJmn
Lent is a season for sober reflection and to always remember that we came from the dust and unto dust we shall return. This song helps me a lot during lengthy time.
Amen Amen Amen
Sung to the tune 'Ballerma'.
Long as I live, I'll bless Thy Name, God of eternal love! My work and joy shall be the same, In the bright world above. Great is the Lord, His power unknown, And let His praise be great; I'll sing the honors of Thy throne, Thy works of grace repeat. Fathers to sons shall teach Thy Name, And children learn Thy ways; Ages to come Thy truth proclaim, And nations sound Thy praise. Thy glorious deeds of ancient date Shall through the world be known: Thine arm of power, Thy heavenly state, With public splendor shown. This world is governed by Thy hands, Thy saints are ruled by love; And Thine eternal kingdom stands, Though rocks and hills remove.
This is an Amen Hallelujah
Tune: Brokenness
What a glorious hymn..... SOLI DEO GLORIA...!
@Metropolitan Tabernacle May I suggest that it would be wonderful and more visibly attractive to use the Videos of Hymns used on the Televetion Broadcasts on RTV (I am thinking particularly for the unconverted to hear and read teh Hymns as in those presentations which your team the TV side of things have already compiled). Pleasew advise.
Oh Lord save me from that wicked man Self!
I love this hymn and its recording. P-l-e-a-s-e could we have available via your website or iTunes an mp4 without the video so that I can play it in my car as I travel to work etc. I have been unable to download it onto a CD.
What unspeakable joy is found when you experience this in your life.. and how true the psalmist words become: “Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.” Psalm 32:1-2 ESV Or how the hymn writers words become the experience of one’s own heart.. Approach, my soul, the mercy seat, where Jesus answers pray'r; there humbly fall before His feet, for none can perish there. Thy promise is my only plea, with this I venture nigh; Thou callest burdened souls to Thee, and such, O Lord, am I. Bowed down beneath a load of sin, by Satan sorely pressed, by wars without, and fears within, I come to Thee for rest. Be Thou my shield and hiding place, that, sheltered near Thy side, I may my fierce accuser face, and tell him Thou hast died. O wondrous love, to bleed and die, to bear the cross and shame, that guilty sinners such as I, might plead Thy gracious name. "Poor tempest-tosséd soul, be still, my promised grace receive"; 'tis Jesus speaks; I must, I will, I can, I do believe. th-cam.com/video/5VISYTFikQo/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
A very solemn hymn.
Beautiful hymn I've treasured since high school.
