That girder bridge in the Minnesota River valley was constructed by Marion W. Savage for his Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern line and nick-named for his champion pacer horse "Dan Patch". Savage built the swing bridge over the Minnesota River that still stands linking Bloomington and Savage.
