You have a point. I've just been focusing on improving first, but I do agree how it can be less engaging when the player's not narrating their choices as they go, or at least provide some post-match commentary.

I want melee to have a better use than being an inferior projectile weapon than ranged weapons or an unusuable short range sword that has no use against bosses unless it's comically large in size

@@CrossbladeX most, if not all terraria bosses will pierce right through the player. explain to me how terraria is supposed to incorporate true melee without straight up changing the entire game mechanics

@@renxan6501 It's not the entire game's mechanics, it's melee's mechanics in specific. Melee armor does not allow one to get in melee range from a boss because they will still die, just in a few more attacks. If melee armor granted more defense and perhaps reduction in movement as to balance it out, then melees could actually tank enemies in order to do damage to them reliably.

@@CrossbladeX More defense would be waaay too op. I get you want a tank class, but melee can already easily tank moon lord's beam if you choose the right accessories. I think what you want is for bosses to have kb resistance?

@@CrossbladeX Plus, bosses in terraria are so big that traditional true melee wouldn't work. Also, it kinda sounds like you prefer turn based combat instead of bullet hell and dodge mechanics. Correct me if i'm wrong.

try ravenous hydra, black clever, manamune,navori,ecslipe. All of the times will proc of each creating a huge aoe dps burst in team fights with almost 0 ability cooldowns and they're much stronger than crit, I have found.

@@biggringus5499 it got changed. So it works on pretty much everything. Even tried it on singed poison and it worked but only every 3 secs 😳

yh I found a stronger build, and it works in pretty much any team comp if u just swap out the clever for essence revour in squishy teams, it maxes out the ability DPS with the autos as well. I tried black clever, nevori quickblades,manamune,eclipse,ravenous hydra. Runaans, Sereldas grudge and bork (doesn't proc on her e or q) are pretty much waste of gold. Using ravenous procs on all abilities and stacks black clever much quicker, plus the aoe dps on every ability plus the ability haste make it a good item for champs like Sivir and xayah, plus when u add the fact that manamune is deal damage for every single hydra proc and her abilities, the dps value from it plus the cdr ends up being the most important item she builds in the game right now. The eclipse provides free armor pen, lethality,cdr and omnivamp plus a shield and 6% max hp dmg and ms every 8-16 is much batter than kraken slayer. Quick blades is the icing on the cake and allow her to spam abilities with almost 0 cooldowns when adding up all the ability haste provided by every single item in the build. It may be more expensive but u are able to do much much more. I also found its much better than crit

Yes really, now you got this weapon that only becomes relevant after you finish the game, and before that doesn't do anything for you since you can't make it without the materials. Though, the attack animation is cool

Thankfully now with Journey's End out we're seeing some positive additions to melee weapons, like Flails being useful for once. I got myself one in particular, that is a great replacement for any shortswords which honestly still stuck considering they're *short* and you have to constantly spam mouse 1 in hopes of not being killed by the zombies. For my first Master Mode playthrough, I find that bows are more useful than shortswords for single targets, while shortswords have a niche use of more than 1 enemy at a time to stab them constantly for mediocre damage. Another thing I'm seeing is that I believe that Lead and Silver have the same stats tool and weapon-wise, though that might be just speculation or it's always been that way
