i saw Gary Numan in 20012 with a die hard Numan fan/work colleague at the o2 Academy in Bristol. i was always a fan anyways. i didnt know any of his new material so it was gonna be adventure...i can safely say, not only was the gig awesome but i got to see first hand how down to earth and humble this electronic/pop pioneer is. he would play his new material and asked rthe crowd what they thought, as well as responding to anything the audience shouted out to him! not only is Gary a legend, he is a bloody good bloke! it is surprising how many big bands were/are influanced by him...

Layne was a true music lover. Great list

Numan was accused of ripping off the legendary David Bowie and received a lot of flak at the time . The truth is Numan built on Bowies legacy , “ Are Friends Electric “ was as gobsmacking unique in 1978 as “ Space Oddity was in 1968. Both brilliant creators .

First few months of 1993 he was doing heroin (see Hollywood Rock), Mike Starr OD'd on tour, he got clean for a few months. Something happened in late 93 early 94 and he fell back into addiction harder than ever and that was the beginning of the end.

Look at healthy layne. Sorry u were not happy like this big dog. It's hard to go back to "normal" when u know. Hopefully u will get it right the next time around.

OMD is my all time favourite band. I'm 54 now and my kids say "I've never heard of them" I play a few tracks and they say " Oh I know that one...and that one and ..."

In 79, I was knee deep in Ska. Watching TOTP, when this android looking guy comes on and it starts..(synth)yuyuyuyu dah na na nah "here in my car..." I was blown away! it was a pivotal moment for me. That sound...the way he moved and almost avoided the camera. This began a life long love of synthesizers and a fan for life of Mr Numan here. Only after 45 years did I see him live last year at Norwich. Absolutely Amazing! So if Gary is going to talk about how others changed his life, then I credit him with changing mine. At the end of the show, being a synth nut, I wanted a picture of his Minimoog, and during the roadie dismantling, he lifted it down and let me touch it. Bless you roadie, you absolutely gave me something very special. Gary is so genuine and honest. He won't read this, but thank you Gary.

Thanks for posting, color! I had a dream about Layne some months ago. He was just there to comfort me. It worked so well I became obsessed with needing to know everything about him. I've always been a fan but just casual. I was in his presence at Lollapalooza 93, but I don't remember 😢.
