Lord Justice Singh on the Unity of Law (book talk at Goldsmiths University of London)
The Rt Hon Lord Justice Singh received an honorary doctorate from Goldsmiths University of London in July 2022. This is a video recording of his conversation with the Head of the Department of Law at Goldsmiths, Professor Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos. The conversation focussed on an analysis of Sir Rabinder's recently published book, The Unity of Law.
Sir Rabinder has been one of the leading lights in the recent development of the common law, most notably in the field of human rights and the law of privacy. In his book, for the first time, he reflects on the defining themes of his career as advocate and judge.
The book explores themes as diverse as equality, privacy and personal autonomy.
Insightful, erudite, and thought-provoking, Sir Rabinder's book is a must read for all those interested in the law and its role in society.

thanks for the video
Thank you for posting this insightful and comprehensive discussion. It's a real tragedy so many people fall for the gimmicks and aren't prepared to see what lies beneath.
In short, people speaking here all agree: Boris Johnson is out of his depth. A new winter of discontent. Another one. "Why are people not up in arms?", is a question asked. There may be a massive shift in public opinion, says Grieve. I hope so.
RIP Jonathan Cooper. Ive just discovered his talks at a person with disabilities trying to grasp human rights this pandemic. His discussions of the importance of human dignity have been inspiring and enlightening. Im saddened he is no longer with us, he would have had much to contribute through the inquiry.
This video deserves many more views. Thankyou.
Well done Beaconsfield for booting this one out of parliament.
From a UK perspective I suspect that the removal of the list of offences for which dual criminality is waived will likely not overly lengthen proceedings. Seeking further information from issuing countries is routine in extradition cases; so adding a question about the conduct for which extradition is being sought would add little to that. Bearing in mind the application of a 'conduct' based test here, I don't see lots of extradition cases to which the framework list of offences would historically have applied now being matters which will result in extradition being refused
No good comes from stealing other peoples countries.

Thank you very much Ruth.
Isn't there an idea that Human Rights go beyond National Democracy? Specifically the Holocaust and the Nuremberg trials?
