Everything I hear by this guy is cool as fuck

The best pure jazz album he has ever put out.

That opening makes the hairs on my neck stand , wonder what the piano is? Its not a fender rhodes i dont think , but its so warm and cozy.Music like this takes me deep into thought mode,miss old friends /family/loved ones and i think of all the nice things that life has offered me.

People talk a lot about the PMG Minuano album as being the best, but The Way Up suite surpasses it by a Mile. The collaboration in writing this Suite between Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays is just astounding. It is indeed a standard to measure everything the PMG has put out through decades against.

sketchy in a good way

I"m trying to transcribe the lyrics for a friend in France. I'm missing a couple parts that are just super hard for me to understand. I've tried slowing it down (the CC just doesn't help) and hunted down many versions online but still those parts elude me (and my American speaking husband). Any help appreciated: At 1:53, I can't make out what comes before "song"... "been living with this song ???" Finally at 2:06, is it really "to bask in the realm of a man in power" -- I'm not sure what that means but this is what I hear every time I listen to it, any version I've found. I'll be happy to share my final result if that's interesting to you!

This is an incredible piece of work....literarily 3 concerts in one. It just shows the genius of Pat and Lyle (who I have always thought was the engine behind this group)! What a beautiful solo by Greg Marionette! This is where the art form should be heading towards..the next step! Absolute magic!.....modern music does not get any better than this! Thanks guys!!
