Did you see the look in Raine's eyes when Eda transformed?! They looked so enamored and awestruck

Gohan was mistreated and harmed by every major adult in his life throughout his childhood, and even the people who loved him put him through immense trauma. Piccolo might see Gohan as his son and do everything in his power to keep him safe now, but that doesn’t change the fact that he kidnapped the boy and stole him from his mother, beating him over and over until he was a weapon. Goku adores his son and wants nothing more than to fight at his side, but he still kept leaving (even if half the time it's not his fault) and pushed Gohan into fights he wasn't ready for. Chi-Chi just wants Gohan to be safe and happy, and ensure that he can provide for himself and his future family, but she repeatedly put her own ideals over the safety of the planet and the emotional well-being of her son. Gohan was failed constantly by the adults in his life and this is the perfect song for illustrating that.

Wowie! That was fucking devastating! Now if u don't mind me I'm gonna go watch that video that takes clips of Gohan fighting cell and compares them to some of the stuff piccolo did to Gohan in the anime when they were training before the saiyans and. Having thoughts I guess. Normal thoughts about Gohan guy that's what they call me,

The Gohan vid of all time. I cannot stop thinking about this. A few things that I am obsessed with: -Lonely opening with the sword and the return home, which becomes the choice to come back. -The first drum crash timed to Piccolo hitting him, hits like a gasp. -Supercut of a child kicked to the dirt! A montage of impact. -The upbeat pickup as he starts getting the hang of it! -Intercut flashback between Piccolo dying for Gohan and all the love and care that developed over their forming relationship. You feel everything behind the rage of Gohan’s next attack. -The music slowing down as it’s hopeless, and then the hope rises back up with the appearance of Goku’s boots. Transcendent. -Supercut of Namek -> Cell Saga on those drum beats. The quick cut between all those times Gohan was beaten to shit in Namek, all those moments of rage between all those moments of what triggered the rage. I am re-experiencing the Namek arc as I watch. The contrast cut between the fight with Vegeta and holding a hand out to him. That cut to Gohan suddenly three years older in the same pose, and then cutting back and forth between scenes of him crying out as he tries to grow strong and other actions. A cycle that is happening again! -‘Ya esta aqui otra vez’ almost whispered, repeatedly, as we slip into the moment we know is coming for Cell. It's like holding your breath. It's happening again. -The wail of ‘Ya esta aqui otra vez’ to Gohan’s screams. Each waver of the vibrato cutting between the other fighters being beaten to death, especially as the vibrato speeds up. It’s desperate. -Drum crash on the SSJ2 transformation, the violence kicking in. The boots coming back! -That cut back to every memory of his father as he builds to the strength to do that father-son Kamehameha. Like with Piccolo’s flashback earlier, you feel all the love and joy behind that attack. -CUT TO ADULT GOHAN. Saiyaman! Videl! The joy, relief, happiness, strength, of him all grown up and living a best life. Even as it gets bad, feels like a culmination, feels like a conclusion! I feel so much for it! -That final rise of the music going all the way to end of Z and then slapping me right back to a four year old’s happy smile, before this journey you took us on! For the rest of time, I will say to my friend, "Hey, you know the Gohan vid?" and my friend will say, "The Gohan vid of all time?" and we will both think about this video.
