Sorry but we do not make them in black just the dark grey. We suggest getting a tailgate break light if you plan to have the Air-Topper® on for a long period of time. There are many third party tailgate break lights that are easy to install. Thanks for reaching out.

The Air-Topper® is now on Gen 5 with the addition of a rain flap that goes around the bottom edge of the canopy. The addition of the rain flap and improvements on the back window makes it extremely water tight.

Hi Mark, you must have ordered the CAP rather than the Mid-Rise. The CAP (2x chambers), sits flush with the cab of your truck and the Mid-Rise has bump up (4x chambers). All of current inventory that we've been shipping for the past 2 months is the current generation so thats the only thing that makes sense. I hope you like it if but you had your heart set on the Mid-Rise please reach out to our customer service at flated.com.

Mine only has 2 as well. Just delivered today. I thought mine was the 4th Gen as well. I have the lower one not the taller one. Maybe that is still just 2?

That is correct about the low profile CAP version, it only has 2 chambers. The Mid-Rise has 4 Chambers and has a little more headroom.

@@FLATED Thanks. We've been watching lots of videos for many weeks trying to decide where we want to go with our camping. I am content in my tent. My hubby makes my life miserable even putting up a tent that takes us 2 minutes. We are not alike. He pretends to like camping. We have a short bed Frontier and two dogs. I'm convinced I can make it work, but I'm not sure if I like the idea of a roof top tent and a ladder at our age or to be content sleeping in a shell. We can fit all our camping gear under our truck bed cover, so we are minimalist, but we would still need to haul our gear as well as have a place to sleep. We are very much nomadic or overland types in that we rarely spend more than one night at a location. We like to go and explore, park our vehicle, take a hike, and then set up for the night, and then take off in the morning to find the next thing to explore. I like that this is not permanent and we can pack it away for the Winter months or take it off if we need to haul something large. I think that flexibility is becoming important to me. However, my only concern with this product is that strangers have easy access to steal our camping gear when we go off down a trail. It doesn't lock down. I'm almost sold on it, but not quite there.

@@MyCornerOnline The security has been a concern of many FLATED customers but we have not heard of a single issue with theft. If you have the topper and Air-Deck® you valuables are very secure when you have them under the Air-Deck® and your tailgate locked. There are options to lockdown the zippers to keep out but if a “smash and grab” type thief is wanting to get into your Air-Topper® then it is not the most secure solution on the market. You can take them off and roll all 4 windows into tubes or all together with the protective paper they come in.

Can you find a SUP rental or sales place near by, they will have what you need to get air in your topper. If you hit us on the website chat we can also direct you somewhere that can help.

If you find a SUP rental or sales facility make sure and borrow a valve tool to make sure they are tight before you get it back to 5-8 lbs of pressure.

Only an idiot would compare the two. FLATED is much easier to setup and install. Also FLATED can allow me to carry kayak or paddleboard on top. Also the rigid poles from soft toppers don’t store as well for example inside truck. There is a reason Soft Toppers are so cheap. The new FLATED toppers and caps are built same way my inflatable rib boat is and it handles hot Florida sun, oysters, and tons of abuse.

Yes, it has been tested for years and there has never been a problem even for people that drive faster than the posted speed limits.

It’s grey and a little hot (but has a R2 insulation factor so not nearly as bad as fiberglass or Softopper), we will have a white for GM trucks in the near future.

​@@FLATED well the reason i asked that is because of the weather itself. where i live is in high desert which it gets really hot during summer and freezing during winter so wouldnt that change the air inside the air-topper?

I sleep diagonal with the tailgate up and window closed and have enough room for my 6’4 height.

We haven’t made a video for that yet but it’s on our to-do list
