NOT a true book! The tale contains dealings with man and the usual angry, condemning, judgmental, conditionally loving God/Jesus where man must "earn" Heaven. Man has created their god in his own image with all of man's characteristics that the real God would never, never, ever possess. And the Lamanites from Israel? I'm afraid not. Joseph never imagined DNA analysis would ever come into existence (so much for being "God's true prophet"). Joseph copied much of the bible to include in the BoM. Mormons don't realize there is nothing new in the book as its doctrine contains the usual Christian fear-based dribble that are NOT the words of our loving brother Jesus. Mormonism is just a slightly altered version of Catholicism and all other Christian faiths. A good read for this year: "The Dark Side of Christian History." by Helen Ellerbe Am I Mormon? Yes!
