Protecting Our Region's Poultry Industry with Advanced Technology
Mostafa Ghanem, an assistant professor of veterinary medicine in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, is using advanced molecular diagnostic and genotyping techniques to mitigate threats like highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) that can adversely impact the state of Maryland's poultry industry.
As one of the region's leading poultry experts, he works closely with state diagnostic laboratories, federal agencies, and academic and private industry partners to achieve a common goal of improving the health and wellbeing of animals and humans.
Ghanem is active in the University of Maryland Center of Excellence in Microbiome Sciences, launched in 2023 with a $500K Impact Award from the university’s Grand Challenges Grants program.

      Either robots or posthumans will both be a continuation of evolution. Both will be in competition to be the superior species, hopefully it's a peaceful competition. I agree with what you said, i'm just raising discussion on it.

      @Olek, no it doesn't. But evolution has only ever had one technologically advanced species capable of wiping out any other species should it choose to do so. The advent of S.A.I could lead to the extinction of all species on earth. The difference between the evolution we've seen so far and this forthcoming one is that both species would have a choice as to their co-existence. It is also highly dependant on how it's creators (humans) evolve it, as to whether or not it will exist peacefully.
