Thanks Andy, just wanted to let you know that the RN boys in opening scene walking towards the camera were my grandad Charles Golding(rear rightside) and his best mate Ted(rear left side). Ted went on to spend the whole war in Dover Castle (My grandad said he was in charge of looking after the Admirals chickens lol). My grandad went on to get oak leaves at Dunkirk, a DCM from the King, Atlantic and Baltic convoys and ended the war in Australia after being part of the Pacific campaign. Couldn't believe it when I saw them both together, that was late 1939 or early 1940 before my grandad was reassigned for the evacuation at Dunkirk. Thank you mate, made my day.

My farher in law had a chat with Arthur Lowe aboard the old Vortigern many moons ago, while he was on his way to the south of france. Mr Lowe owned something very much like this as I recall.

Further to my last comment, I just Googled it and the film is 'Wogan on the Orient Express' 1983.

The clip is part of a longer film in which Wogan travelled the full length of the Orient Express. I can't remember the exact year, but I would say about 1980ish.

Love anything from the rivers and canals of the UK! If I might suggest, lose the music, and add in the ambient sound. what you would hear if you were standing next to the videographer. Also, maybe try to brighten up the images. Silhouette shots are useful, but should not predominate. Keep it up!

My other comment seems to have vanished, This would have been between 1979 to no later than 1982 as the vorts was changed to the white hull and galloping maggot Sealink Stena line logo livery. The reason Wogan was aboard was, he hosted some kind of fashion show for which Derek had to rig the lighting. His widow remembers it well.

My father in law was the Electrical officer on the Vortigern. A crew. Derek ward. Sadly passed away last year. I have the old helm ( steering wheel ) off of her. They sold her in 1988 to the Greeks. If Derek was still with us he would tell you when this was as John was part of his crew I seem to recall. If John is still around, let him know of Derek's passing. Also Andy Hill died a few years ago. Andy was one of the engineers. Mike Mapleson was the chief Engineer. and Gerry Sutton was the captain. I spent a great deal of my youth on that old ship.
