Conversion of Douglas Gillespie Plant's latest fleet addition—this sleek Ford Transit L2H2.
We had the pleasure of welcoming back Douglas Gillespie Plant for the conversion of their latest fleet addition-this sleek Ford Transit L2H2, supplied by Park's Ford, Ayr.
Our team went to work, starting with a custom sign writing by our in-house Graphics Department, making sure the van looks as sharp as it functions. Excellent videos, Thank-you very much😊
I'm glad you found them interesting👍
Is this available in Pakistan?
Would have looked so much better, and created more space if the rears of shelving were shaped to van sides
Thank you for your comment. However, to do that would have reduced storage space of flexible PVC pipe our customer wanted to store at the back of the shelving units. You'll note there's no external pipe carrier on the roof.
@@atlasvantech Fair reply, explains it all. Cheers
Though I don't run an AMC twin I've so enjoyed this part - I'll head back to part one now to enjoy the complete build. Superbly explained and filmed. And I have subscribed 👍👍
I'm glad you got something from them. Many thanks. Malcolm.
That was helpful not 😂😂
Thank you so much for this video. Super helpful and well-presented. Your time and effort is most appreciated!
Hi do you sell these ply kits for vivaro swb twin door please
I think it is great that you explained the booboo, although very understandable (stuff happens). I think this is definitely a case for making a 2d hardboard template of the pannier envelope, to which the hardware can be fitted temporarily to test the dynamics of fitting/unshipping etc. I do not quite understand however why the panniers could not have been fitted with the topbox removed (with your original hole positions) for then fitting the top box after would have ensured a security feature (ie they could then not be opportunistically stolen from the motorcycle. I don't think you said what capacity these panniers were. Kind regards.
Hi! Is it that top box aluminium? lightweight?or is kind of heavy, other metal? I dindt find that info in the webpage. :S
Great video - did you have a frame underneath the original flooring or did you just screw those 3 pillars directly into the metal? Thank you 🙏🏼
Working on the exact same G12 Pistons and facing the same issue where rings are not available at +040" can you advise what rings did you used for this modification?
'promosm'
Great stuff. I’ve got a 1958 Matchless G9 with what I believe to be an original Craven D-rack (it’s had a few coats of black paint over the years from previous owners!) so I’m just about to buy & fit a small Snowden top box.
Nice
Such a good job, thanks for sharing
The rubber “bobbins” are rocking because you’ve left off the inside bobbin fastener which stabilizes the bobbin and keeps it in place when putting the panniers on and off.
Thank you for your comment. However, you've lost me on this one because I'm not aware of any "inside bobbin fasteners". There certainly wasn't any other components in the kit when it arrived. The instructions were quite sketchy so I used my initiative. I can see how an inside saddle would help. The panniers seem to be quite stable as they are though!
Had the AJS model 20 ,very similar ,done many miles on it really reliable bike.Only prob which I could never fix was oil leak from where dynamo joins the crank case.
I can't thank you enough for making these. My dad had one of their L racks on his 900GTS Ducati - and I at one time had a set of Comets with that same topbox - but all in white - sold them to a fellow in CA with a Vincent (regrets). Anyway - I've got a wideline Triton in the works that'll likely get Cravens and I was thinking just those same cases (thrilled to see them in video - just what I hoped they'd be) and I think they recommend the same rack so I'll be studying/watching these more later. I also have a 2014 Guzzi V7 Racer which I want to set up more like dad's GTS - bench seat, low slung silencers, figure out how to mount a L rack on there (the shocks have reservoirs which are in the way - but they're really good shocks) - there's a frame mount under the pillion end that I think I can tap into and maybe some bent brackets to the shocks. Maybe a W rack would be better. There's a bit of work to do before I can really figure the Cravens for that but its the end goal. Anyway - sorry to talk your ear off. Thanks for these. Lovely machine, never had the pleasure of owning or riding a Matchless, just Nortons, Triumphs, and Enfields for the Brit bikes (not complaining - just always thought a G80 would be sweet).
I'm really glad you found the videos of help Mr. Triumph T140. There's really nothing else for it sometimes, you've just gotta get in there and design and fabricate the bracketry to suit the bike. Craven, to their credit, admit that their bracketry on some bikes is pretty non existent. If you follow my process you should be able to get a good rigid fixing using the materials I've used. You don't need a milling machine just a pedestal drill and a good round file to elongate the holes. A decent vice to fashion the bends is a great help too. I wish you the best of luck in getting everything fitted. Best regards and safe biking! Malcolm.
@@atlasvantech Hi ,,I watched your series of Vid about fitting the Craven pannier with interest.. I really like the Craven pannier style... But I need the panniers fitted to be really secure,,, no flexing ,,I also would have them placed further forward... Honestly your vids have made me think twice about Cravens,, I do not really fancy making a frame (it would be a bodge) and getting a welder to do it would not come cheap ..its a pity because I like to buy British ,, regards
Just watched this again what fantastic roads and countryside the sound of this bike is awesome don't understand why these bikes weren't as popular as the other makes. to me they are just as good great video 👍
Thanks again, Mick. I appreciate your comments👍
NICE riding Sir...but do take it a little easy...was on the edge of my seat !!

Where do I buy this kit shelving
Good afternoon. You can contact us on 01292 474746 or email us at malcolm@atlasvantech.co.uk where we will be happy to help.
Hi... Thanks for posting... Out of interest did you do compression test on the engine before taking apart?
Hi Andy, No, not on this occasion. I pulled it apart to cure the rattle on the top end and measured the rings which were worn and replaced them while I was in there. Plenty of compression now though!
Cheers... Have a 59 g12 very similar to yours... Bout 130 psi both cylinders kicking it over a couple of times.... 63 years not bad i guess...
Beautiful absolutely beautiful ride, thank you, haven't been on as nice a ride since 50 years ago on my 1964 Triumph 500 through the forests of Ben Lomond to the beach in Santa Cruz Ca. Thank you again. Nice bike too by the way, its got good power!
Thanks for your comments James
She looks stunning Malcolm, bit late to this video but well done on the rosette, glad all the hard work payed off mate 👍
Thanks 👍
I personally would of mounted the beacon on a single roof bar or stand off to comply with regulation 65 chapter 8 360 vision notes as the vans shape slopes forward leaving a higher rear end
✋ քʀօʍօֆʍ
that was excellent ,great workmanship👏
Nice vid malc, perfect conditions as well which is always nice , great job sir 👍
Thank you Andy.
Hi what adhesive are you using to seal van windows
Joyous 👍
That is a work of art, looks completely original except maybe the pipes ?
Glad you enjoyed. She's a very original bike. If not original, I believe the pipes and megaphones are excellent replicas!
wow ! All that great care you took on the rebuild has paid off...the engine sounds perfect. How did you learn your engineering skills ? Love that road too. Don't recall seeing another vehicle
Yeah, it was lock down. A bit naughty!👍
did you rebuild the bottom end as well ?
No, only the top half.
congratulations, motor sounds great to me
Thank you!
at this point I'm wondering if you can machine the piston as well as the grooves. Does it even matter if the piston is a fraction out seeing as the rings are doing the work (I'm a carpenter BTW not an engineer)
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The problem you'll create in reducing the piston diameter beyond the recommended tolerances is piston slap. The piston will effectively rattle in the bore. Not recommended! Malc
The suspense is killing me !
fascinating, I'd be very happy if I had an engine rebuilt by you. Looking forward to watching you enlarge the grooves....
Pa que sirve esa weá?

Very interesting the tips on the oil ways on the rockers there are a few AMCs that are complete rebuilds but sound like threshing machines that’ll be why 👍. I use copper head gaskets as I’ve found composite don’t last very long before failure. Thank you
Thanks Stuart, I'm glad you found it informative👍
Great video lovely bike 👍
Thank you Mick, much appreciated👍
On my BMW R100/7 I have cast alloy Krauser pannier frames and a rack. I drilled though the alloy rack and used robber 'bobbins' when attaching the Craven topbox. This means the top box isn't rigidly mounted like yours but has a small amount of 'give'. The miniscule amount of rubber on your brackets merely protects the paintwork and has no cushioning effect. I am interested in how the lid of your topbox stays almost upright and doesn't go the whole hog and goes right over like mine. I didn't see a stay or cable of any kind.
Good point Paul! The lid just seems to stop at the hinge travel. I didn't pay too much attention to that, but I'll have a look! Malcolm.
I really enjoyed your videos especially the tips re the oilways .Please put more on.
Thank you Christopher, I will as time permits!
Sorry but the volume is way way too low to properly hear you.
Mmmm, I use an ancient pair of Tsunami speakers, Paul, and the volume's fine. I do check these things! Don't take this the wrong way, but have you checked your volume settings? Malcolm.
@@malcolmrodgers5158 Sorry Malcolm but my laptop is flatout on 100% volume. Some other videos, but not all, ate also very very quiet. Paul.
@@paulnarramore6828 Something I'll need to bear in mind Paul. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I tend to use remote speakers. Malcolm.
