Don’t know if there’s many people active in this comment section but I’m looking to take the test and pay out of my own pocket. We use 3 tonne diggers on site and I have a decent amount of experience in them, I’m looking to do this course but I’m only 22, reckon even with couple years experience and a a certificate for a <10 tonne 360 anywhere would put me in one or would I struggle to get anyone to have the confidence in a young person in a digger
did you do it in the end? i'm 23 and have been driving mini diggers for a few years as a landscaper and im very stressed about getting work after the test
I passed my above and below 10t last year, nobody would give me a chance so had to do an apprenticeship in groundworks just to get my foot in the door, only got till February to upgrade my card from red to blue. Good luck
Hes learning mate leave him be get back to him in couple of years on site ....id like to see a driver thats not slow when taking a test n u always go slower theres a million things on ur mind ...hope he passed 👍👍
I did mine long time ago id been driving excavators years its totally dif when uv got someone in front of u thats judging ur future lol ...speed comes with time ...speed aint for tests haha
Love the video, I'm just starting to look into doing my licence for this and this has really helped. On a separate note, I really don't agree with tests. The instructors see how good you are and it should be down to them to say if your good enough. After all, they work with you throughout the week and surely they know better than anyone else if you keep making the same mistakes. Just my opinion anyways. Still great job and great video
Can't learn to drive in week or two takes atleast 10 years if you have to work with a price gang you'd be sacked in a hr for being too slow, also driving in around houses or around services takes time too gain the experience im afraid these courses are ok to learn very basics but be prepared to be sacked alot
@@bloggs692413 that's really good to know. I can understand why some firms can be like that about the speed of a job because they have costed them based on a normal speed for ground works. Shame that's how it works but that's life these days.

I would love to become a machine operator. When I was kid, I spent loads of time watching machines working on the constructions sites in my city...The CPCS is really expensive, but my problem is, if I decide to do the curse, how can I get a job then?? All jobs I'm watching require references and years of experience.. Is there any place that takes newly CPCS qualified people??
Agencies mate. Sign up and keep searching for jobs popping out. I m on day 2 of my 360 course and in friday after passing exam i will start looking for jobs. If i wont find any quickly then i will do dumper truck course in same place as now diggers and my instructor said - mate with dumpers you will get job easier than on 360 and once you are on dumpers on building site you can say uou got also 360 ticket and then if you will be good worker they will find jobs for you on diggers as well. Money for beginners just after they passed licence is same(usually) on dumpers and diggers.
@El Salvador hi mate yes but not exactly on diggers- i m labourer in one company where we build "new modern build" or do refurbs of care homes in uk. I have digger with lift ops, dumper, telehandler ticket, i do a bit of everything everyday. For what i do im happy with pay and work van with fuel card. Im lucky i can tell you.
@El Salvador i have done my training with kelston sparkes in stanton dew near bristol- i would say dont do it unless you know someone who will hire you straight away- as i speak with lads on site they say most desirable are telehander operators- its really up to each person what trade/machine driving job he/she would like to do or usually it goes this way: lets say you start on telehandler and even as labourer with cscs card and telle licence you will meet people and you might find other trade you would like to try- because in life i wanna do skydiving as hobby i really dont mind doing a bit of everything and got paid nearly 1900 after tax every month so thats why IM LEARINING EVERYTHING I CAN, for example today i was helping 2 ground workers to drive dumper with stuff then help spread "fresh" tarmac on narrow piece of ground had to be removed earlier on, then use wacker and spray water infront of wacker, i would say i do everything apart plumbing and electric stuff. I wish everyone to find job they like. Just dont go for bricklaying, i would try telehandler and dumper.( cheapest and more chances to get something but be prepare to start from 0- labouer). Or you might be lucky and someone is waiting for 360 operators. I wish you best mate
When I passed my test 12 years ago it was alot easier than that! There was no man on a staff or nothing. Dig a trench and man hole, change a bucket, backfill it, up and down a hill, and I passed.
I'm here I currently work as a security guard on a construction site but Ive had a soft spot for construction all my life and with my dad driving these machines for over 30 years before health and safety I used to drive them all with him on a weekend when I was a kid. Now I'm looking to follow in his footsteps and drive them for a living I just want to know how much the test was and did you do your <10 and >10 tonne on the same course?. And how much was it thanks.
Johny Bigg Rigg hello mate yes I done my above and below 10 tonnes I also done my above and below 10 tonnes lifting ops on the same course I think for both 360 and lifting ops it's was around the £1300 mark.
Rhys Faulkner that's good news for me Ive been told from many that it would cost £3000 but that's not from a trainer I'm going to ring one my dad recommended me tomorrow when I finish my nightshift in the morning. Thanks for the quick reply!!. And I read you have your own business now hope all is well mate see you around.
Hi mate. I'm taking my 360 above 10 tonne test next month. I've driven 180's for about 5 years now. I'm confident Digging. Are the tests hard? What I mean is, do they explain the task enough for you to understand on the test?
theworkscw yeah they do. how I done my test was over the course of a week, started with class work the paper tests and understanding the machine, that was Monday and Tuesday then Wed, Thr, and fri was just digging mock trenches with man holes and then Friday afternoon was my test and I just flew through it so it really easy. The only thing I had to do but it's optional was a blind lift behind a wall and over sized lift like scaffold polls but that was for above and below 10 lifting operations. If you have been driving 180s for 5 years you will probably piss the course it's easy.
It consisted of tracking up and down hill, if your doing lifting ops a blind lift and a over size lift i.e. Scaffold polls, 1meter trench X 10 long with a man hole at the end. Then it was just general understanding of the machine. @Ross malone
Thanks Bro❤
How muck is a test like this and how long?
That instructor was shocking. And that trench wasn’t to spec not one bit. And he’s saying it was spot on 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Says the man without a ticket😂 leave the lad alone ya 🔔 end
I wish I go swim on the summer in June 2015
That line looks pissed
How long did that 5m pass before you got to the manhole take you to dig?
Awful machine driver
How did you get on with the theory test, is it hard? How did you study? Cheers
I'm also interested as Il be going for mine too
Keep up the spirit, sir. Greetings steel nails and greetings two handles I'm also an excavator heavy equipment operator let's help each other thanks

Done the test today passed woooo
@El Salvador no it’s hard to find work
@El Salvador I will, I think with Covid there’s a lot of people hunting jobs, it will pick up.. make sure you practice to questions there’s 83 I think
@El Salvador possibly but even agency jobs are few and far between, but might be different in your area well worth doing
