FATAL CRASH SAB Goblin 500
After all the hard work on the 500 started to feel confident. Tried something new this time. Started piro'ing a little bit, high enough to be safe. The ground approached too quickly when I got into the wrong orientation :(

Hi there. Thanks for watching. The sim I am using is called Heli-X and you can get it from www.heli-x.info/cms/
how come we cannot see the blades? nice hovering :)
Thanks! I think there is a setting to make them more visible I will have to fiddle with it.
excellent video Javier and great flying skills.....i have just managed the funnel but only anti clockwise...i use AccuRC and it is not that realistic..
Thank you! I still struggle a lot in trying to move this to reality. I feel very confident on the sim but not on reality. I have to put a lot of work into that. I will try to keep improving my feel on the sim to mimic reality as much as possible so that muscle memory transfer is easier and hopefully gain confidence. I think I will install Rescue on all my helis though. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
Hi ! do you have more information about the price of HELI-X pls ?
Hi there. Sure. You can get it from www.heli-x.info/cms/register/ and pay via PayPal. It is 65 euros.
Imo perma focussed heli in center of screen is really bad in sims.
@@TheLufur yes that’s a good point. I tried VR to overcome that but I am using a PlayStation VR so I can’t get good resolution so ends up better on a regular monitor. Thanks for watching and commenting!

is accurc still going. i heard its abandonware? if so i hope it will be made free to the heli community, like phoenix is. btw your piro flips are correct, you just need to join the two halves together into a seemless flow, which im sure you have done by now anyway. ive been doing them about 15 years and still have not 100% perfected them lol
Hi there thanks for watching and commenting. Yes to my knowledge AccuRC is dead. The development team just stopped working on it. I will probably use Heli-X this cold weather season instead. Thanks for the feedback. I will see how things go this simming season. Ended the season with a pretty bad crash so have to find a way to rekindle my passion.

@@ruimessias1302 although I have to admit I’m a bit bummed as well the crash didn’t make it on the frame I do get to keep what led up to it. PS I'm building a Steam AK420Pro right now. It swings a true 420mm blade. HIGHLY recommend it. Parts a stupidly cheap. I did a basic flight just to test everything out before the true maiden and its solid as a rock (so far).
I am the worst. I am a die-hard SAB fan. I do have a smaller 420 but I love how it flies and I feel the blades are discontinued and big part of how I like it. So I don't fly it as much. Plus the packs take ages to charge due to my setup. I know there are other cheaper options but I love my Goblins. I tore apart the 500 in like 10 minutes. But $500 to repair ouch!
@@toadiscoil dang man you can repair this Steam for less than 100 bucks I'm sure of it
@@LichaelMewisin all fairness this is a true 500 size. It runs a 4500mAh pack so it’s more expensive to crash. But yes I do believe the Steam must be cheaper than a comparable Goblin. Still I can’t help it I’m a lost cause fanboy

Wow thats a good flight, thanks for sharing
On the contrary. I appreciate you watching and commenting! I hope to keep progressing as soon as I can figure out my setup woes. Been at it for many years now.
Good try! I hope this little bird survive after the crash. One thing that I tried is just to do the flip part and stop piroing after the flip is done. Holding the heli in a piro inverted is difficult and take more time to nailed it. I still don’t have the guts to try piro flip during piro in real life
@@jasonwong93 hi there thanks for watching and commenting. After the first crash the Heli survived no issues at all. But on the second one I am pretty sure I hit throttle hold but there must have been enough inertia because the blade grip arm got cut off. Also on disassembly I noticed the spindle was bent. They are inexpensive spares on this Heli but I crash it way too often. I thought I could piro inverted since I do it a lot on the sim but it got too small too fast. Live and learn. I will have to try everything except piro flips. I will try to do half piro flip transitions maybe that helps to build that muscle memory and confidence since to be able to see it properly I need to try piro flips on larger helis. Cheers!
@@toadiscoil Getting confidence is important. I had similar experience with you before and I just don’t try any moves without confidence on any of my helis. I also found that tuning the heli to be the same as SIM or the other way round will help build the confidence
@@jasonwong93 I have been struggling with that. I just cannot get my helis to feel even similar to the sim where I can do a lot of stuff. I am starting to feel a lot of stalled progress.
Have you tuned the gain to be the highest possible on cyclic? That would help for the connected feel. For your tail, I think you can try tuning the collective precomp. I don’t have vbar so I don’t know how to tune but it should have something like this in vbar
Thanks! I thought about this. I turned all comps off because they they didn't to be helping. But maybe what I need to do is to get the tail as solid as I can and then remove that extra kick with precomp. I thought I could solve it with I gain but didn't work. I will try upping the cyclic gain also. Thank you for commenting!
@@toadiscoil I think I gain would help to try keeping the tail in place a bit but it’s more like keeping the tail at consistent speed during piro. Collective precomp should be the main factor keeping the tail in place in pitch pump. You can try increasing the collective precomp until the tail is not moving. My M4 can be tuned to a way that the tail doesn’t move at all from full positive to full negative
@@jasonwong93 thanks! I have been playing a ton with several parameters.
That's a pretty heli! Great flying, too. Relaxing to watch. Mike

Thank you my friend. I am partial to Xnova, but I have an Egodrift on the Raw KSE that a friend gifted to me. It runs great! But I think I will go Xnova again for my next heli, whenever I can figure out how to pay for the electronics hehehe. The Kraken sits pretty but empty on my shelf.
@toadiscoil Kraken is another Beautiful Heli from SAB! All my best to You, your Wife and your boys!
Nice flight my friend
@@mikeisiah1091 hey Mike thank you! Appreciate it.
I attempted piro flip using S1 after 6 months of simming. I think I broke it down into 2 aspects: piro hover and actual flipping during piro. I focus on practicing the latter on ( tail in hover -> start to flip and piro at the same time -> inverted hover) and I made it successful with S1. I think it gives you sense of accomplishment and easier to progress this way. I’m now working on piro inverted hover and once I can full control it, I’ll put everything together. But now I enjoy piro flipping around and hold it stationary after
Awesome. I keep battling with setups I will try to take it out to the field again and try some more.
@@toadiscoil yeah I spent quite some time in dialing it in. I ended up lower the gyro gain to 35 for cycle, agility set to 60 and lower the rudder rate to 35
s1 is the best rc anything ive bought in a long time. completely sold and i own 3 now and an s2 Bring extra parts or extra choppers next time but I liked your video !!
@@jgrc73 hey thanks a lot for watching and commenting. I am trying to work my way through settings to make it fly to my taste. Only problem is I fly Vcontrol so I have to carry two radios to the field if I want to fly the S1 so lately it has stayed home.
It's hard to tell from my angle, but that tail just doesn't sound right to me. Like a weird hum. Have you checked on all your bearings!?
@@Cloudy_Flyer yes I don’t like that sound either. It’s getting better after a few more flights since they were in storage all cold weather season. Still probably needs a new belt and some bearings somewhere. But these things just keep on going and going without much maintenance. I’m not too good of a pilot so I don’t take them to the limit and I don’t put that many flights on them either. Since I’m saving to finish up a Raw KSE 700 and Kraken 700 it might take a while to go back and do big maintenance on the 500 and 570 which probably need it 😁

Oh no! Well it’s super easy and inexpensive I have liked that about this Heli a lot
Looks good
Thank you!
That was nice, your commentary during the flight is inspiring . Thanks for your return comment previously 🙂
Thank you! I really appreciate the comment.
Hi, just discovered you, getting my first 3D goosky S1 soon. Only flown blade coaxiales in the past, but want to learn to fly a proper heli hopefully and see if it may be possible in the future to learn the simplest of maneuvers, so much thanks for your insight on this. I guess I really need to to get a simulation also. Thanks for your inside look at this,, will be following you 😊
Thank you! I really appreciate the comments. I also have a Goosky S1 and the idea is to try to start to move from simulator to reality with it. So far I have crashed it like 5 times or more and it's super inexpensive and easy to repair once you learn the ins and outs. But I keep struggling with getting the proper feel on the real life helicopters. I think I have advanced a lot on the sim but it's difficult to move it to reality. Will for sure keep sharing my journey through the hobby. The simulator has been key to learn at this point, though.
Que lindo campo😢
Si gracias. Se vuela muy bien ahí. Que bien oír de ti! Un saludo
Totally agree with you that flying the S1 is far superior to a sim. I have learned so many maneuvers on the S1 that I then translate to my S2, RS4 Venom, and 470L. However I still haven't learned piro flips yet. I am just finishing learning invertered flight at all orientations and able to do excellent rainbows. Now I am practicing Tictocs but those aren't going so well. In any case I love the S1 because I literally fly it daily because I dont need to go to a flying field. My only complaint with it are the blade grips. They are too soft and are virtually guaranteed to bend in any decent crash and become expensive changing over time. I have asked Goosky to improve this and they said they would.
Nice to see you have a positive experience. I think you need to have your collective management really at pro level to do hard 3D on this thing. But it works really well for all orientation practice. It is funny because I have broken many, many pieces of the S1 except the blade grips. They seem to be pretty good for me. I have broken the linkages, boom, tail fin, tail blade, anti-rotation, bent the spindle, but I have never needed to replace the blade grips. Oh I also killed a swashplate as it separated into two parts. I could pop it back up but was annoying to do it virtually every crash so I changed it, that was relatively expensive. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@toadiscoil Interesting. But if you take your blade grips off and take a spindle and insert it in there, apply a lateral pressure, then rotate the spindle, you will almost certainly feel a grittiness, meaning you have bad bearings. It doesn't take much to kill these tiny bearings. Then getting them out , good luck with that. Also have you checked for vibrations caused by your blade grips? I notice this a lot after a crash, I will change the main shaft and spindle, but still have vibrations. Then after changing the blade grips it's like new again.
Same comment about the bearings for the main shaft. I just got through rebuilding mine today as a matter of fact and replaced their main shaft bearings, new main shaft, new spindle, new blade grips, new spindle washers, new grease. Then had to replace the anti rotation guide and a servo because one of the mounts broke. That is pretty unusual for me though. Also put new main and tail blades even though it didn't need it. I figured I might as well have it as perfect as possible after changing all those other parts. Now there are absolutely no vibs. Flys lke new.
@@LichaelMewis I sometimes don't change the bearings on my big helis. I think actually in fact smaller helis will be more sensitive to vibration than big helis but sometimes I am not so careful with bearings during maintenance.
@@LichaelMewis Problem is I don't have a good baseline. One of the first things I tried was to do tic tocs and down it went. I increased rotation speed to suit my taste and also increased pitch to make it stop as I like. But I may have too much pitch now since last I tried to practice my half piro transition I pushed hard on the collective, bogged it and down it went. I have a lot of problems to try to get the feeling of my real helis like I like.
