School Study Guide for the Canadian DAT
I'm sorry about the audio in the second half, I've been having a lot of hardware and software issues recently.
Hopefully, this gives you guys some ideas on how to look ahead and plan your study schedules. I understand I didn't have much class compared to some of you, but the main takeaways in the video apply to everyone. Good luck everyone!
Again if there are any questions you want answered, feel free to message me on social media:

Hey what was ur GPA at western health sci?
About a 3.75, not very high at all for dental school applications
Not too shabby if u ask me. R u in dental school now? I’m an upcoming first year student at Guelph biomed and got into western health sci, med sci, queens life sci, UofT life sci, and McMaster life science. I choose Guelph b/c I heard it’s not as hard to achieve a high GPA compared to the other “prestigious” universities. Do u think my decision was right? I’d love to hear ur thoughts
@@nicholaschoi8096 at the end of the day your grades and application is all that matters. and I actually got into the university of melbourne and as we speak im currently in class there rn for DDS1
@@parthmistry4694 sweet! Should I apply to Australian schools too? Where is it easiest for acceptance?
Hey Parth, Hope you and your family are doing well. Have you got into dentistry yet? I was wondering what resource would you recommend for someone who is trying to efficiently study and ace DAT. I have not studied or done one previously. Do I need to have done Casper prior to applying and if yes, how significant would the Casper mark be. Any thoughts on the significance of having dental experience prior to applying? Thank you in advance.
Thanks this video was super helpful! Glad the DAT is now available in the summer.
How long did you study for the exam?
My second video explains all that but basically 2 months
For how long did you study?
I started on the xmas holidays like I described in the video and took the February DAT, so 2 months
hey, what was your GPA in the undergrad?
It wasn’t that high, only a 3.7
What grade of math there is in DAT. Is it difficult or simple?
Should I get DAT bootcamp or DAT crusher?
if I am planning to apply to the 2022 cycle , can I take the DAT during February 2022 ( which is after the deadline )? or do I have to take it prior to the deadline ?
Is there any limit for writing DAT ?? And will the admission would be affected by the number of trials ?
Hey Parth, I am currently doing a BSC in psychology. I am applying internationally as I haven't taken any chemistry courses at the undergraduate level. What resources can you recommend to help me prepare and learn the necessary chemistry on the DAT.
Hey Parth. How'd you register for the DAT? I just want to be fully prepared come registration day. Did you pay just for the test or extra for the DAT to be sent to certain schools? Did you pay for any of the verification things they offer? Thanks...
Hey there, I registered in the CDA was website. I did pay extra for my scores to be sent to additional schools after I signed up for the DAT, it all depends on how many schools you’re applying too. Also I didn’t pay for any score verifications because I didn’t have a reason to request it.
@@parthmistry4694 Tremendous Parth. Thanks.
Hey man one last question, did you have use the 122 page you linked on Bootcamp or did you use the OG Feralis notes ?
kamyar sartipi Hey, I used the notes that I linked.
Hey man! How come you chose to do Mikes videos? I currently have both Chads and Mikes and i do like Mikes videos more but some people tell me he doesnt cover everything on the Canadian DAT. is this true?
kamyar sartipi Hey there, I honestly can’t tell you because from my anecdotal experience, Mikes videos did me really well considering that I got a 28 on the chem section. I think the fundamentals of chem are the same between each the US DAT and the CDAT, its at a grade 12/1st yr uni level so I mean, its not like theres some crazy chem that you might be missing. But do your research and find what resource works best for you. My opinion is that whatever resource you learn from best is the best one for you.
@@parthmistry4694 Thanks alot man! Also did you finish DAT destroyer ?
kamyar sartipi I didn’t use the destroyer as I mentioned in the video, I only used bootcamp
This helped me get into the Military! took 7 minutes off my 1 kilometer run! God Bless America
Nikhil Rai glad I could help!
Hey! Thanks for the video. Did you also do any research work during the school year?
Aaron G Hey Aaron, I didn’t do any research, but instead I had some other volunteer work I did. I highly recommend talking to profs and finding out how to get a research position
Man, you the GOAT for making this. Appreciate this fr
Rome Blyts I’m glad I could be helpful!
Hey amazing video... would you say that chads chem videos is sufficient? Does it go overboard? Thanks :)
T gastrula Hey, I’ve used Chads vides briefly before using Mikes, but Chads videos are basically the classic chem resource. He has the free version, and a version you can buy specifically for the DAT, which is relatively cheap if I remember correctly. His videos are tried and true.
Parth Mistry thanks bro :)
Hey! I was just wondering is the link you have to the Bootcamp bio page your notes or were they from DAT bootcamp? Also can you please let me know the name of the PAT app you mentioned? I couldn't find it on the android app store. Thanks :)
Naazi T The posted link its the the Bootcamp Bio notes, which is what I used to study for the Bio portion of the DAT Also, I’m unsure about the playstore, but the apple appstore has the app show up if you search DAT bootcamp, it has a white star on a orange background.
@@parthmistry4694 oh okay I see! I found the app too , I thought there was a separate one you were talking about haha.
@@parthmistry4694 great job on your score as well!
Hello I am going into my second year in university this upcoming school year 2020-2021 and I was wondering when I can take the exam, is or right after I finished my 2nd year or prereq or can I take it whenever after 2nd year of prereqs?
Daphne Chua Hey Daphne, so you can take the exam whenever you wish, there’s no requirements to take the exam itself. Other than the fee of course.
Nice video. You can also check our website for more information on the DAT, studying tips, free materials, tests and guides. bohrprep.com
Hi Parth!! I was just wondering why you said that you would use the DAT crusher if you had to do it again? I know it is geared towards the Canadian DAT but was just wondering if you've heard of any success with people using DATcrusher?
Trisha Hey Trisha, yeah a friend used it and found it helpful, bc it was closer to how the cDAT is actually taken, compared to the online version the Americans write. You can print out the PAT problems the DATCrusher provides if I remember correctly
@@parthmistry4694 Hey, thank you so much your video was soo helpful!
I'm just about to graduate from high school and I guess I will have a whole summer free. Do you think I should use this time to prepare for the DAT and take it in November? Or do you think it will be too early to take the test during the freshmen year?
Lindsay M Hey Lindsey, while I can’t comment on how likely you may be to grt into dental school by your third year, most dental schools do have a time limit on how long they will accept a DAT score for. For example, some schools will only accept your most recent DAT score written in the last two years. Knowing this, I would personally advise you to not write it right now, but more importantly, I suggest you research what the policies are for the school you’re planning on applying too! Best luck!
Id also advise to take it once you over your Gen Chem and Intro to Bio courses done, since a large portion of the material learned in thoses classes are part of the Canadian DAT. One tip I thing I wish I knew before Freshman year is to take that Bio and Chemistry class much more seriously, to have the main concepts drilled into your brain. It'll make your process of studying for the DAT much smoother.
Your uploads are so helpful thank you so much 🙏
Do you think it's necessary to take physiology and biochem before the DAT? Also, should first-year bio suffice for the bio section?
harkirat k If you’re taking the Canadian DAT, I really don’t think it would matter all that much if ypu take them before hand. I took biochem before and I was done one semester of phys when I wrote my DAT. I don’t think it made a huge impact overall though. If you study well you don’t NEED to take those courses before hand.
Parth Mistry okay thanks!! :)
How do you create a schedule to study? I'm planning on writing the DAT in November but I'm having a hard time setting up a study routine for the summer.
Angela Martin Hey, my next video should be out by the end of next week at the latest, and its going to cover how I broke down the content and made a study schedule for myself!
@@parthmistry4694 Sounds good, thanks Parth
Wow great video! I failed the DAT the first three times, I think this will change my life.
I have been trying to find info on the Canadian DAT for months, thank you good sir
Hamza Elkhatib If you would like me to cover anything else let me know!
