This hurt, but absolutely beautiful! I remember being "this" close to meeting Neil (and the band) for their autographs when I was a young man with a full head of hair! We knew all the nooks and crannies and all the entrance spots of the Ottawa Civic Centre where they were playing later that night in which we had tickets for the concert. We waited for hours in the cold drizzling rain knowing they would pull in by the South Side back gate in their limo and drive into the tunnel in the underbelly of the Civic Centre. We waited and waited and for some stupid reason we were facing the opposite direction when we heard a car slow down to make the sharp turn into the tunnel. As we turned to look, we saw Neil, Alex and Neil all looking out their window smiling from ear to ear. We laughed because we knew they knew they beat us at our own game and took a slightly different driving direction than we anticipated. As with any RUSH concert, that night was as memorable as the other times I've got to witness the greatest band in the word! Long Live The King! \m/

I'm so glad to hear these stories, of how rich and varied Neil's life was outside of the excellent music he created. That was how he wanted it, "Just to be a guy." And he was. An extraordinary one, but still just a guy. I'm happy that he got to do at least a few of the things that he wanted before succumbing to cancer. He deserved to be happy like that. Rush continues to inspire me even after they're gone.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories of your fun and meaningful times with one of the most famous and talented drummers throughout all human history. He was a dynamic person and deeply moved by all the beauty around the world. He knew how to see the spectacular in what most men would think very little about. He is already greatly missed, and I'm just a man who's life has been affected by him, while never really knowing him. His memory will endure.

Beautiful remembrance/Tribute....to a great guy who just happened to be a great drummer also. 67 here; this one gutted me. I was lucky enough to catch the band x3; AMAZING live show- sounded just like the albums. They put out a WALL of sound- often hard to believe that only a trio produced it.

It’s heartening to know that Neil had such good friends that he could share his time and passions with. Neil certainly endured a lot of pain in his life, it’s so sad he couldn’t have had more time with his family and lived to see his daughter grow up to have a family of her own.

I'm still in shock, in all this time I still cannot fully process this. It to me, it's like when Keith Moon died; The Who were never-ever the same. Some things have no solutions; they just are. We can only look back, be thankful we got a chance to share in the gifts they gave us...

I had a territory manager job covering Utah Idaho Colorado Wyoming and Montana. I used to drive behind adventure motorcycles hoping to meet my legendary drummer. Sadly, it was never him, as I’d exit to a gas station, hoping the rider would be NEP, the ghost rider. I’m not alone, in my failed hopes of someday meeting him. I’d fantasize of standing in line, him nearby, and asking, “do you by chance, have any mean, mean soup?”

Wow …. Thru some tears …. You were a good friend Little Rock Spring Training Tour early 80’s …. After the kick ass performance I ran to the exit where Rush’s tour bus was parked - ready with my Minolta XG-7 in hand ….. And here comes Neil …. He’s moving fast thru a small gathering …. I notice him first as he tried to justify slip thru ! I yelled Neil !!! Tho he didn’t stop he smiled at me cause I was the only one who recognized him Later, I asked Getty and Alex who are very nice and signing autographs for everyone why Neil was in such a hurry? And he said after every show, Neil goes back and listens …. Talk about dedication

Hopefully all of us can learn a lesson from him…be caring, loving and compassionate and always put the needs of others ahead of our own. Rock On! RIP Mr. Peart.
