Agree, after owning a number of Porsche’s for the past thirty odd years, I’d never considered the E85. That changed after having driven one, I now own one and, I totally love mine. She reminds me of the TR6 I had owned in the early 1980’s. Without the questionable build quality and reliability issues that the TR6 had. So yes. Definitely a future classic ❤

I just got a 2011 E90 318i with a very luxrious interior that looks brand new. It isn't the most powerful car around, nor is it as practical and economical as my previous Hyundai i30, but man it puts a smile on my face :)

Electronics is what ruins vehicles. Of course electronics have ups and downs, but seems like electronics are just for the comfort rather than practical use, since I think that most issues tend to be because of more electronics being involved into controlling the vehicle rather than physical interaction of parts. Maybe I am wrong, but that's basically the only thing that in large has changed the automotive industry in recent 20 years. Except for the maybe some cheapened out parts that should've been made with quality standards.

I got a 1999 320I as my first car very nice, you got the useful features but it's still simple and not too much like today, electric windows, cruise control etc

722.6 transmission is slow but it is reliable. Very reliable. It can handle tons more power so it is under-stressed in the C55. Interestingly, 722.9 7 speed was offered in the SLK55 with the same 5.4L M113. That would have been a great combination in the C55 but W203 was on the way out in 2007 so Mercedes stayed with the old transmission.

2004 steering rack was slow. AMG/Mercedes updated the rack for 2005 with quicker steering ratio.

Had 2006 for 12years daily driver,gave up due to my old age.Did 150k km,missing it greatly good value for money

Okay so I’ve driven alot of different cars and owned a lot different ones as well. The c55 Amg is no e46 m3. But when I got mine I spent the money to have to dialed in. The front end bushings need to be replace and a alignment done on these cars whenever something suspension related goes. It’s well documented on the forums. Check bushings, alignment and tires. And you have a dialed in car. Now if you got into this thing expecting a e46 killer it ain’t going to happen handling wise. It’s a w203 with a big engine and slightly stiffer setup. great car if you find a maintained example. I looked at 3 before I bought mine. It handles like a luxury go kart. I prefer mine to E46 m3 for two big reasons. Reliability and comfort.

You need to drive a car that has been maintained properly , after 19 years most of them need some new bushings in the front suspension , wheel alignment etc , as well as full service of the transmission . Fact is they are a great car , ultra reliable bullet proof engine which provides a good blend of power and economy. Safety and features in the car still eclipse that of many new cars being sold today.

mate you got it in comfort mode, what's the matter with ya haha, ofc the gear box is going to be boring as f@ck lol... set the mode into sports+ or race mode and you're cooking. you also missed a fair few nice features that make this thing special - all in all good review but you missed too many things - you even missed what's in the boot, i bet you also got the stereo in normal mode, you should have it in surround sound. you should have taken it for a 0-100km run using launch control, you even forgot to use the emotion start haha gosh bruv, you no cuz mine cause cuz would have known better - just kidding you're a bruv
