I don't disagree. I sold my Conquest and kept my Swarovski's. I'll check out the Vanguards.

Interesting, I have ended up with the luxury of having a pair of 10x42 Vanguard Platinum as well as Swarovski SLC. My Swarovski SLCs are from 1992, so the close focus is disappointing; but apart from that stack up amazingly well to even my modern 8x42 in terms of brightness in low light. I still have to try more formal comparisons, but I love the premium quality to the Swarovski optics. The Vanguards give a great image too (not quite as classy feeling image as the SLC). With closer focusing and excellent quality build, I sometimes question the 10x difference in the used price I paid for each... though that speaks more to the quality of the Vanguards. I love the SLC image despite it being a 30 year old binocular.

have you used them in AZ yet? Also from AZ and thinking about getting.a pair of the Zeiss 15's

@@travist6345 I haven’t bought them yet and since hunting season is over, I’m going to wait for a good deal or something better. Last year I was set on a pair of 15x56 binoculars from Cabelas, but they never marked them down. In hindsight I should have bought a pair of their 10x42’s when they were on close out because I would have gotten more use out of them. For now I’m going to stick with a spotting scope and lowered-powered binoculars.

In my experience from many years selling binoculars, Zeiss have a quality control problem. If you get a good Zeiss, then they are very good, but I have had serious problems with some Zeiss, with customers rightly complaining of problems, which Zeiss refuse to accept!

I ended up returning a pair of 8x32 Zeiss Conquest HD binoculars. They seemed to be well built but even with the extended eyecups, they weren’t for me. If they had been 8x42’s, I might have kept them because the price was heavily discounted. I’m now looking at trying Leica Trinovids or Opticron Auroras. Thanks for the reply and happy holidays!

Dunno. They probably require a tripod for steady viewing.

No idea about Steiner. The are the official bino for federal agencies. So, they're probably "good enough". You might have a left eye astigmatism. I do.

We refused to sell Steiners, they were awful!!

Crazy. Have you made sure the cap is screwed down tight for a good connection?

@@TucsonDude Yea, have tried that too. Cleaned cap and body. Multiple batteries. When I got looked robust flash light, hight quality and did not expect that at all. My 2 Euro chainees flash light still working and ths done. No even warranty.

@@viktorask That's awful. Mine (all 3) have been super reliable for many years. I'd put their quality between Fenix and Surefire.

@@viktorask I hope you contacted Zebralight and gave them an opportunity to make it right. Mine have been through the washing machine once or twice... nothing but flawless performance.

Short and to the point sir. I have several zebralights, but lost my SC600 Mk3 HI unfortunately. REALLY high quality illumination tool without doubt. I can always count on my Sc5 mk2 - I run Duracell rechargeable NiMh batteries in it, run time is excellent. My Sc600 Mk4 is wonderful as well.

I think it boils down on what fits you best. I think the Zeiss are sturdier and have bigger lenses. Good luck with yours!

The problem is that...they're NOT our mines. They're Canadian/Austailian companies mining royalty-free on US public lands. I'd have less problem with these foreign owned mines if we charged royalites for minerals taken AND a type of financial assurity which would require environmental cleanups after the mines close rather than using taxpayer moneys. America & Arizona first!

@@TucsonDude Getting in the way of the state to be able to tax those companies for mining on your land then? Again, sounds like you're just trying to prevent Arizona from growth and thus pushing the liberal climate change agenda.

@@rbfishcs123 We just need to agree to disagree. I care more about the Santa Rita mountains for future generations than a few hundred temp jobs. We don't need another Globe, AZ disaster. BTW, I'm so far from being a liberal that I've been banned on many sites.

Seriously, that light came out in April of 2017. Still "the best" single AA IMHO, but it isn't new.

Hey man...thanks for the info. Sometimes, the smallest quirk can turn me off. The Zeiss binos had more prominent blackouts with my eyes and didn't have the locking diopter. However, they looked/felt more solid than my current Swaros. So, you're gonna stick with your Conquests?

@@TucsonDude I guess. The Conquests do everything I need them for. And the chromatic aberration others complain about doesn't bother me at all because the micro contrast and resolution is so good. Please read the reviewer's comments about the 10x42 Conquest at the end of the lab test. (He preferred them over the Zeiss Victory.) BTW: the 10x42 Conquests are better than the 8x32 and 15x56 Conquests. However, if I wasn't getting on in years, I'd definitely get what is rated by pretty much everyone as the world's best binocular, the Swarovski NL Pure. I'd probably pick the the 12x42 model over the 10x42 version because the field of view in the 12x42 equals that of other 10x42's. Check them out for yourself. BMW has manuals in the lower models. Not so much with Audi.

We agree! One thing I prefer with the Swaros is fewer "blackouts" when viewing at an angle.

Tucsonan Dude blackouts? Interesting. I have a Zeiss victory 8x25 pocket as my first binoculars. I notice there is a lot of blackouts not so it seems. Is this less with a larger binoculars? What do you think of the 8.5 x 42 Swarovski? Would this be a serious upgrade for me?

@@MrGflan the 8.5 x42 is the EL series, it is higher end than the SLC. it is a very serious upgrade ! (i own the EL10x42). if you wait a bit, there is the new Swarovski NL pure comming in september, wich is an upgrade over ... the EL !!

@@TucsonDude Noo! How could you sell one of your babies? I just bought the Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 model and LOVE them! Increadible sharp and really wide field of view. I also own: Zeiss Victory pocket 8x32, Swarovski SLC 15×56, Swarovski EL 8.5x42 and the Swarovski BTX 85 mm 😋😍. I'd say my collection is now complete.

@@mrmaxaxl Nice! I agree! For me...I have so many other hobbies, that I sometimes have to "cull the herd". Between collecting fireamrs, binos, drones, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, computers, ham radios, rock specimens, guitars...I can't keep everything. :)

Hi James...thanks for the comment. :) I climbed Ragged Top with a meetup group starting from the south and descending on the north side. I say the south side is harder than the north...agree? However, there was nothing to sign when we were up there last year. No ammo can, nothing.

@@TucsonDude south side is definitely harder than north. I first went with a small group a friends in the late 90s. We had no idea which way to go at first and took some trial and error with a lot of "nope! not that way!"
