If I’m not mistaken, I think that might be a male that survived the winter! There isn’t a lot of research on it but I’ve watched and tracked some in my backyard for a year. Since this was uploaded in May it’s too early for the females to get that big, and the abdomen is very small. I’m still doing research on it so I might be wrong :)))

How does the stoop actually work? When they land a hit on their prey, is it beak first? Talon first?
Ano N. Ymous usually when they stoop, they will actually punch the bird with a closed foot! If the punch doesn’t kill the bird from the impact at high speeds, the falcon will meet the injured bird on the ground and sever the bird’s spinal cord with its tomial tooth (the notch on the falcon’s beak).
