Kirk Grim
The kirk grim appears in Scandinavian and Northern British folklore.
When a church was founded an animal would be sacrificed and buried in the kirk or in the kirk yard.
Overall it was seen as protecting the site, but if it appeared to anyone it was considered to be fortelling a death.

Risps could also be called tirling pins. They might have a ring attached to it that could be moved up and down to make a noise. Oysters were cheap, easily available food. Their shells had many practical uses in the pre-modern world. For example they're one of the few natural things that are smooth and pretty close to a pure white inside, so they were used for mixing paint pigments in. In magic ...

I'll never forget washing my face in the morning dew on Arthur's seat after Beltane on Calton Hill. Or heck, just hiking on it for the fun of it during the term break at the University. I feel like there was another hill nearby that I walked around at one point as well where I thought I saw the remains of old terraces, it made a big impression on me because you don't often see things that old in the US.
