thought I would share my findings with others regarding the max flow of this cheap hotend

Thanks! Good reference... Mine is crapping out at 30mm^3 with s 0.6 chc clone for some reason.... Orbiter 1.5
30mm³ is all I can get reliably when printing under normal conditions too. Ie fan on and printing parts not test benchmarks.
@@PhatToni hmm good to know last time the fan didn;t work due to error on my part and i got a heat blob and the filament backed up all the way to the top of the hotend popping out the top PTFE tube plastic collar I was lucky to be able to unclog that. very scare of running without the fan on. I may try a smaller fan like the 2510?
@@user-dv9sl6bg9z yeah smaller fan or back fan speed off if it's on a pwm header. I had to customise my fan shroud to block airflow the the bottom of the heatsink/nozzle area
I have a problem with setting the temperature. PID doesn't help It does not heat the nozzle during printing. Still missing 10*C The standard HOTEND works without any problems. Spider 4.0 works beautifully except for this E1 temperature error
Try modifying your extruder found shroud to limit the flow of air over the lower section of the Spider. If I had a fan blowing directly on it I couldn't maintain temperature and it would slowly drop and cause error
I bet that thing would print PLA like a champ pretty quick? I'm thinking about ordering one. I'm ordering an upgraded hotend for my Ender 3 Pro regardless, just can't decide which one. Right now it's the stock hotend, but dual z axis, direct drive, 32 bit board and touchscreen upgrade, and the CR-Touch. Any advice on which all metal hotend to order considering I only print PLA?
This hotend would be a great drop in replacement if you don't plan on printing more than 28ish mm3/sec. Plenty enough to keep up with realistic ender 3 speeds with a 0.4mm nozzle.
@@PhatToni I saw a video earlier that said the thermistor wasn't replaceable so I ordered the Spider 3.0. IF the thermistor was to go out, I'd hate to have to buy a whole new hotend.
Edit: never mind. Got it. why no fan on the heat sink? My CHC Volcano is around ~35mm³/s
Got anymore footage from the night? I got a ticket but COVID the night before and I'd really loved to see it. Been a Zep fan forever
