Big Sheepshead Fail But these fish Save the Day
มุมมอง 714หลายเดือนก่อน
I started the day hoping to catch sheepshead using shrimp and crab, but the baitfish were relentless, so I switched gears and targeted these fish instead. After finding a school, I started hooking some nice ones and shared tips on my bait choices and gear setup. Back home, I kept things simple and cooked the fish with blackening seasoning and olive oil on the Blackstone griddle. Cooking on the ...

Have you removed any of your forward coaming bolsters, the ones with no access from behind? I've been told they pull up and off and I can get mine to pull up about an inch but I can't get them to pop all the way off. Someone else told me they had to cut theirs off.
I have not done it personally but had the dealer replace them.
I'm just a weekend warrior, and the struggle has been real for me since the temperature has dropped. Been out three times this month and been skunked all 3 trips. Cold weather fishing is not my thing. I did produce some sheepshead out of Bayou la Batre, the first cold front in November, but since then, nothing.
Same here, the weekends have been rough on me. Starting to wonder what it feels like to catch a fish lol.
Putting in work on those troutskees! That salinity meter was a nice touch, never actually used one to determine where I fished, pretty cool. Great video!
It’s a great tool to have especially after a big storm fishing far up the rivers for trout.
Great content bro!! We always look forward to your videos. You definitely had more luck in Dog River than what we’ve had lately 😂
Appreciated it man! I caught a couple in the main part of dog but they did not make it into the video due to the GoPro turning off. Fishing was tough this past week. Probably not going to get any better with all this rain we just had.
Great video!!
Thanks hopefully I can get the Garmin fixed soon
I hate to say it but I’m so glad that I wasn’t the only one not catching stuff lol I thought it was me lol I fish in the same area as u so I know a lot of the waters u fish but this video makes me feel better lol sorry. Uddy
lol, love it! It definitely has been tough.
Before technology with bottom machines, we had to just guess where the fish were. Glad to see old fashioned fishing can still bring them in.
It was painful lol
What's your favorite hook/jig to fish the slick
Lately I have been liking throwing the slick with a 3/0 1/4 oz screw lock jig head for fishing deeper water.
@GULF2BAY I gotcha. Do you have any problems with trout shaking it out?
Not to often but a 4/0 will fix that if you are having that issue
@@GULF2BAY ok thanks for the advice
No problem
I like to fish that spot you started catching them at.
Yeah that’s a good spot
Love Greg Samples product!
They are the best!
Glad your channel popped up.
Those power poles almost never have issues. Sorry to hear about your problems with the power pole.
Thanks
They sent the part to me quickly and it’s back up and running. Still working on the bottom machine.
BTW not a alligator gar that is a long nose gar
What is lil bro wearing
Snow skiing bibs from Amazon.
Not 100 pounds, but still a nice gar!
Agree Definitely not at 100lb gar. The explanation is in the video description.
Tiny
lol, read the description, I know it’s not a 100lb fish. It’s about his reaction and how fish stories are born.
Hei man, whats the rod he use?
Falcon Ultra Light, its for bream fishing but he like to catch specks on it
yeah its a gator gar but it aint close to 100
Read the description.
Not an alligator gar
@@FrankBajer The longnose gar (Lepisosteus osseus) is a large, cylindrical fish with a long, narrow body and a distinctive, bluntly pointed snout. They are known for their sharp teeth and armor-like diamond-shaped scales
@GULF2BAY Exactly.. Alligator gar different subspecies.
@GULF2BAY Atractosteus spatula
That net guy is something serious 😂
Had a good net man!!
haha how many questions were u asked that day?
lol he is a talker for sure.
Wowie Zowie!!!
Love his call for a net!!!
Gets it from his dad
Needle nose! Nice catch 🙂
@@fishingforaliving1881 long nose gar
@@GULF2BAYthe long nose gar are often called needle nose gar because of how skinny their snout is.
@@Clipp3dByJourneyFN there is also a Needle Fish that looks similar to a gar but it is silver and usually found in brackish and salt water
@@GULF2BAY ok
Sweet catch!
Thanks
@GULF2BAY - Welcome! Caught a few there but never that good!
@ yeah that was the first time I livescoped a triple tail.
@ - Nice! I see we fish the same spots here and there so I subbed. Keep up the great vids!
If you ever see me on water come by and say hey
Another great video. I really enjoy watching the videos.
Thanks brother!
Happy Thanksgiving Gulf2Bay, always enjoyed seeing another of your fishing trips as I sit warm and cozy on my sofa with a cup of coffee. Thanks for sharing.
Happy thanksgiving! It is definitely starting to cool off and get chilly in the mornings.
Looks awesome! I’ll for sure try it!
We need to go get some crab and try it again soon
@ sheepshead is a category next weekend let’s do it!!
I see you on that intro. Nice work Scott & beautiful speckled trout!
Thank you! Luckily the specs have been on fire and saved the day
Nice black drum Gulf2Bay. Always enjoy seeing your videos
Thank you, it was a fun day out!
Heck yea man, some quality time catching with the kids. Great memories! I had a great trip with my son on the Bote Rover. Great video!
Thanks man! We need to get up and go fishing. Maybe we can find a halfway point and fish in Mississippi or Louisiana.
@GULF2BAY Ill be doin some tournaments in LA for Bayou Coast this coming year. Hopefully be there a few times. Maybe we can coordinate something, be pretty sweet
@Jacemang_Outdoors sounds like a plan
Awesome video!
Thanks man! Those were some nice trout you caught in fowl river.
@ thank, Y’all too!
Great video! Ya gotta love Mobile….
Thanks
Enjoyed watching another Gulf2Bay video.
LOVE THE AMERICAN TRILOGY BY ELVIS!
I was wondering what song that was! Thank you
@@shannonellzey6408 YOURE WELCOME!
good times
It definitely was. We caught a lot more fish but did not get them on camera. They were trying to get away from all the white trout and small specks.
Great video Scott. I am ready to go when it cools down.
I hope the cool weather comes soon!
Our son lives in Mobile and loves to fish the bay.
It’s holding slot of good fish right now.
“Mom!! Fish On!! 😂”
Can be work on flounder ?
Yes, you can see the flounder come off the bottom and hit your lure when you’re bouncing it off the bottom.
Beautiful day on the river. Love the real time view on the Live Scope. Making memories
It’s definitely fun watching your lure in real time.
enjoyed the video. quick question: What kind of $$$ would I be looking at to buy a boat similar to yours, along with storage and maintenance? really appreciate it.
Think they cost right around $135k for the boat, storage is 15 to $20 per foot, maintenance is about $2k per year
@@GULF2BAY i really appreciate that info.
I saw yall that morning. Video bombed yall at 8:42 Great catch on the jack!
lol that’s awesome! Thanks, the jack was a fun fight but Bryce is still determined to catch an Alligator Gar lol.
Will you make a video on the trolling motor/live scope setup up front
I am going too just have not done it yet.
Good job little man.
15:53 Didnt realize the Port in Mobile was the deepest , I think New Orrleans is Maintained to 45 ft , Up to Baton Rouge, Sunshine Bridge.,Would have guessed Houston would be the deepest channell.
Little piece of Frech bread would have made the Shrimp a real plate , but bread is evidently expensive also , oe a plain roll or a cracker or 2 ?
The deepening project just made Mobile the deepest port.
lol you are right. I thought about getting the shrimp Poboy sandwich but trying to cut back on the carbs to lose some weight.
The picture quality on the video is really nice. It brings in the feeling of being there, riding along with you and your family. Love seeing Bryce do his happy dance going fishing. Great video
@@juliee7092 thank you. It time to do a beach camping trip video again!
@@GULF2BAY, yes that sounds great
