      We have a lithium ion power bank and a lithium iron phosphate battery running the fridge. You can use regular electricity, solar or 12volt (usually from a vehicle) to charge the batteries. Yes. We are using stored electricity which is what people need in a grid down situation. 11,000,000 people lost power in just the last 5 major hurricanes this year. That is the problem we are focused on solving here.

      House electricity or "shore power". No. The oven and little stove run off "6-Hour Canned Heat" which a lot of people think of as "sterno". The SetPower fridge freezer ran off of a 210 watt hour power bank and the rest of the night it will run off of a lithium iron phosphate battery. If we were in a sustained power outage solar panels would get us through or plugging into the 12 volt in the car. The videos are to help people understand how easy and releatively inexpensive it can be to cook and get through a short term power outage. Since 11,000,000 people lost power during the 5 major hurricanes this year and who knows how many people will lose power this weekend.

      @@moderndayfoodstorage I watched youtube videos. I teach a group of 4H kids every year and what I always tell them is if you can cook it in an oven in the house you can cook it in a dutch oven. Most people will count their charcoal per top and bottom. I light up my charcoal chimney about 3/4 or so full with some newspaper under it and splash on some lighter fluid then light it. When the coals are turning grey they are ready. Not just the corners turning grey. I fill up the top and the bottom of charcoal with little air gaps between and cook it until it is done to my satisfaction, I like everything well done just not burnt. If you are doing deserts they get less charcoal. It is a learning curve but not a hard one. You can figure that each coal is about 25 degrees and go from there. Good luck and enjoy. Just have fun with it. Don't try to cook on the ground. You need some kind of pavers or metal stand.

    0:35 - 0:48 That footage is a little misleading, because the Vesta Stove and Space Heater is subtly off to one side on the left, but the main item on the table at the centre is the Ember Off-Grid Oven. Same company, but different - and more expensive - product.

It was meant constructively and politely, not intended to offend you. If the point of the clip was that there are many options, perhaps you could have said that? I received this generator as a gift. Its nice. I love the solar aspect. The more I've thought about it though, it just doesn't meet my needs, a real generator. The manual says its limited to 300 watt appliances. What I need is a generator that can power either by pop up camper heater, or at the very least its lights. Both are beyond the capacity of this generator. It can recharge my cell phone. I guess that's something. I also recieved the Vesta heater. I have more hope for it. I really like that it can double as a cook stove. Primarily, I will use it to help heat the camper. I'm always a little leery of having an open flame in it, but anything to break the cold. Last time I took the pop up hunting, it got down to 10-12 degrees each night. My Mr Heater stove hardly made a dent in the cold. I really had to rely on the campers built in heater which, though old, put out more heat and made the early morning hours bearable. I don't expect the Vesta to beat the cold completely, but I'm hoping it can do better and make it bearable without me needing to run the camper heater which takes a lot of juice.

      @moderndayfoodstorage 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hear you. We use this unit for tent camping and anything else that has to do with "grab and go" situations. The Vesta is great too. Again, we use that mostly for camping and heaven for bid during an emergency but that hasn't happened to us yet. These are all designed to be another tool in the tool box. Keep adding to what you have because what you have will come in so handy for you and the people you care about if you find yourself in an emergency. Thank you for the comment and keep posting your thoughts here. We really appreciate the conversations!

      As an update. I tried the Vesta heater this hunting trip. Got down to 14 degrees every early morning. This heater with all 3 canisters burning didn’t make a dent in the cold of the pop-up camper. The camper stove top cooking food heated the camper better than the Vesta. I liked that the motor was nearly silent but a little over a foot away from the blower you couldn’t feel any of the warmth at all. I would light it in the evening as a way of trying to stave off the cold a little after the sun went down and before switching the camper heater on but it didn’t seem to contribute any heat at all or slow the temperature drop in the slightest. Those evenings would start around 45 to 50 degrees and you would watch the thermometer drop even while it was sitting next to the Vesta heater. I guess that cold was too much for it. Again, to be fair, my Mr Buddy heater struggled to raise the temperature even a few degrees over the course of an hour while the outside evening temps plummeted. I tried the heater for boiling water during the mid day. It took so long to warm the water up (never approached a boil) that I still had to rely on the camper’s old stove top to finish the cooking. Or a backpacking stove which would also be way superior. Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t hate it. The Vesta is well built. I love that it was intended for a duel role as a heater and cook stove. It was well thought out for compact storage and the little damper/snuffer was great. The handles were well thought out for when you had to move the stove while lit. The motor worked as intended and was very quiet barely adding to ambient noise. And the canisters did stay lit for 7ish hours. I really wanted it to work as I like the set up, but the heat output was barely negligible and not worth the space it took when packing for the trip. If they could somehow boost the heat output I think this would be a very good little heater.

      Thank you for the review! The extension cord is a game changer for sure. We are building our solar one piece at a time too. The equipment is there for an emergency but we like to get our reps in doing something fun.

      Thank you for the reply. This really is the ONLY food storage we have in our house. I am glad you are ready for anything.
