Golden retriever, the only dog I have had that has attacked and almost killed another dog, and ( different golden) the only dog I have been bitten by. Dont hype this breed...😅

All dogs are special to their owners.

We have only had Golden Retrievers. I would never call them loyal. We were at the local leash free with one of our Golden Retrievers and he was playing with some other dogs. I looked around to see where our Golden Retriever was and he was outside the gate trying to leave with the dogs that he was playing with!

I always thought guard dogs, more or less, just sent out alerts. If someone breaks into my house, just wake me up, doggo. I'll handle it....

IME -- and I've had a couple of each -- they're the same dog but for the hair. They have the same personality as long as the Lab is not from a line of hunting retrievers; I had one of those and it was like a completely different breed: hyper with huge exercise needs. Still friendly but (at least mine was) a handful to deal with. That being said, I'll take a rescue pit bull over either; best dogs I've ever had.

My best friend always had basset hounds, bloodhounds, a particularly aromatic bunch. They brought joy to the planet, as did their human, MikeH. RIP to the whole bunch.

Never saw one in the United States shelters. They are the best family dogs out there. My Mamacita Laurrie was a golden. I love and miss her daily. RIP Mamacita Laurrie.

Heartbeat is pounding hard and fast. Gets under the bed as far back into the corner. If you are on the bed gets in your lap, then behind you,then under the pillow, sheet. We have medicine. It is the same with thunder. He has medicine to help. The thing is I came to my daughter’s out of hospital. I was still falling. The first time I was still on the floor when this same dog came running from the far end of the house sliding in as long and close to me as he could get. That’s not the only time he protected me when I was on the floor. So scared yet so brave. He barks to keep people he doesn’t know well away from me.

My golden was very potective of me We had stopped at a redt area in West Virginia and a man tried breaking into my van. I yelled at him and he started.towards me. My golden went for him. A trucker saw what was happening and chased him away. My golden judt.loved all over the trucker
