KTM 890 Adventure In Europe Ep 8
I'm travelling from France into Switzerland. Little bit of freeway work on this trip to get me closer to my point of interest but what I see coming down past Lake Geneva blows me away. It's my first sighting of the Alps. Great afternoon riding beautiful spot to stay on the Western side of Lake Geneva.

I'm travelling from my beautiful hotel in France through the eastern border area between France and Germany finding some fantastic roads getting up into the ski fields and having my first taste of views. I didn't realise that this was just the start of some of the great roads in Europe.

This episode day 3 and 4 I leave Belgium and travel into Luxembourg have some fairly major problems with navigation devices but send me all over Luxembourg but I do get to the hotel at the end. Luxembourg, I find out to be a beautiful place to ride around. Hopefully this video shows that.

So I set off from the mortal man hotel in Windermere, which was quite a nice but Old hotel floors are very noisy. I take some beautiful roads out from Windermere and I'm heading to Selkirk in Scotland where I find the Glen hotel which is a beautiful little hotel where I stay the night. The next morning I head off for one of my bucket list things and and another point of interest that I can chec...

I’ve just come into the lake district from North Wales and I find some excellent roads my favorite is traveling through Hardknott Pass. The vision looks like it’s sped up, but I guarantee you that it isn’t. I’m not going that fast. It’s just because the roads are so tight. This is one of my favorite Roads of the trip so far.

Well, this is where my trip begins. I leave my dad's place in South Wales. My father has been very helpful with getting the bike ready. He's probably save me a day all up. I'm heading to North Wales and I've plotted a route for myself but within minutes of leaving I hit my first piece of farm machinery and that keeps on going throughout the trip. I realise that the South Wales country lanes are...

Cracking enjoyable! Cheers from USA/Alaska!
Thanks, David for your nice comments please keep on watching i’ll be in the Alps by the time we get to episode seven 👍
Is the Viaduct Roman ? How the heck has it survived 2000 years ? Yet modern Steel Bridges etc cant last 100 lmao
I dont think its roman as it was built for train lines but the arch construction i believe is very strong and robust. Thanks for watching.
@@CaptinCrash321 Ah yeah 👍 I just looked it up says mid 1800s it was made 😞 disappointing
That tour was absolutely amazing & your bike also!
@@pongkoj2 Thanks

You are a really awesome man! keep up your good work.
Thanks, will do!
you got yourself a quiet run up and down the Pass 👍. you'd prob have better luck getting a auto electrician to look at your wiring prob then anyone at ktm
I’m finding in the UK that when I mention auto electrician they go what are you talking about? Always goes back to the dealer. I have no words to describe my frustration.
@@CaptinCrash321 i'd just do a google search for motorcycle auto electrician and you will get some results pop up.
good old blighty hope you have fun riding the roads and byways of the uk ... oh and the delights of the many pubs 👍
I will thanks for the comment
As they say….sadly all good things must come to an end. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching your epic journey through Vietnam. Congratulations on a fantastic series, big job creating and producing these movies so well done Andrew. Your a talented guy, both on the bike and behind the camera…next adventure the Himalayas…..I’m sure there’s a Royal Enfield just waiting there for you….Good Luck
Thanks Steve my next one starts October the 22 I’m riding through Europe for six weeks three cameras this time one a 360 and I’m going to be on ktm 890 so a bit more power. Thanks for watching.
Awesome !!!! Really looking forward to that one. Take care mate !!
Great video, keep going.😍
Thank you! 😃
Can I ask where you got the GPX files you mentioned from? I'm looking for some "bigger bike" friendly routes to try out on my new F900GS. Thanks :)
Sorry, only just saw this but they are on the Hunter dual sport Facebook page and files
Great video, keep going.😀
Thanks mate I’m glad you enjoyed it
It was blood in ur soup
The dragon spitting fire to turn u into BBQ n spit water to turn u into pho. Yummie soup. Beware of ghost.😊the ghost got me n they only accept ghost money
Chasing the dragon? The dragon will swallow u whole.😊
Respect. Those are some crazy roads you guys were on. The bikes seem pretty nimble and fast on all those hills too. How did your brakes hold up going down hill. On Mt. Washington in New Hampshire they won’t allow scooters to ride up (down actually) because with an automatic trans they can’t shift their gears to slow their bikes. They’re also afraid their brakes will overheat. Hope that wasn’t the case with you two.
No break problems even with the extra weight you just have to be careful cornering they are not sports bikes i found out the hard way. 😂
@@CaptinCrash321 hopefully no diaper filler moments on those turns.
In episode 8 i nearly come off the bike going around a corner too hard and when i cranked the bike over something underneath the bike, hit the ground and lifted the back wheel up, and I slid into the opposite lane How i recovered. I don’t know.
@@CaptinCrash321 I can feel my guts tightening. Just reading about it. Damn, glad you’re okay.

Hi my name is cliff and I’ve been chatting to ur father he has told me about ur trip , Malcome popped up to the farm as he does and very welcome to call . So this is just a message to say I’ll be watching ur posts and catching up with the channel. Stay safe .
Thanks Cliff i hope.enjoy the channel.
Strange about your front abs. I find the KTM front abs is brilliant. Ive barely ever felt my front abs kick in but it does come down to a lot of factors.
Yes, some of those factors are put 45 kg of camping gear tools another bits and pieces and a really steep hill that you start off the top a little bit too fast on when your ABS kicks in you ain’t slowing down my anus opened up like a set Theatre curtains 😂
been a while waiting for this but well worth it . Some awe inspiring views truly best way to see them on two wheels . great stuff fella 👍
Yes sorry it took so long I’m self employed and all my time is taken up with riding and trying not to get divorced because I’m riding so much. 8-9 will be out a little quicker and we take a boat out to Halong Bay which was interesting.
@@CaptinCrash321 hey No worries fella wasn't having a dig . first world always comes first fella .

Thank you Steve that’s one of the nicest comments I’ve ever received about any of my videos and I really appreciate it sorry about the poor quality audio as my microphone snapped inside my medium mod and I didn’t realize until after I got back to Australia. I love doing the trip and I really enjoyed doing the videos after spending many hours on them I do have tendency to rush them towards the end from frustration but I’m glad you enjoyed and I think I would like to go back to Vietnam with a group of friends and do it all over again because a lot of it is quite beautiful and the cities are crazy which I now enjoy episode six should be out today
Hi Andrew…thanks for your reply and no drama with the audio. . I noticed a GARMIN InReach Mini attached to your bike during this video. Since you seem to use Google for navigation for what purpose do you use the GARMIN ?
My family could see exactly where I was, almost in real time 10 min lag and track me I didn’t have a kilometer reading on my scooter, so that was helpful and any dead spots in communication. I can text my wife with the in reach and we can communicate plus it’s a epirb
I’m also going to Europe in August and traveling around there for eight weeks hopefully I should be able to produce a much better video I’m just introducing a Insta360 to my filming equipment which I’m testing in Australia over the next few months
Thank you.
Good vid mate. Still wondering if you paid the hotel when you checked out?
Thanks Dani and yes I did pay 😂
Congratulations Andrew….another cracking episode in your VN adventure. Loved it mate…you’re a natural entertainer !!!! I’ve lived and travelled across VN in motorbike for the past 8 years….I was so glad you got to experience the beauty of VN along the HCM Hwy. Thanks again, well done and looking forward to episode 6….
Unreal footage. Pity your microphone died again. Excellent, looking forward to Pt 5.
Thanks Matt
Congratulations on a fantastic video and dealing with Ba Na Hills !!! Definitely one place on my Never To Do list !!! Safe travels.
Steve, thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. I was probably a little hard on Ba Na Hills. It would be a great family theme park, but as I was so under prepared and under researched it got me by surprise.😂
Great video mate
Thanks 👍
Good job on the video mate.🤩🤩👍👍
Thanks Matt
Too much to comment on
In a good way or a bad way 😂
Aren't international driver's licences not recognised in Vietnam?
Correct found that out when we were over there in the fine print it was 😂
@@CaptinCrash321 Oops LOL... So what's "Shit happens" in Vietnamese?
So what did you do?

What a great and diverse scenery. Good video mate. 'Penis mountain' as you called it, is pretty small, but I guess thats perspective. 🤩
😂
33.24 First 890 mention. 🤣🤣🤣
Did it take that long ill rectify that on the next overseas trip 😂
A lot of factories are moving to Vietnam from China, increasing the number of trucks on Vietnam roads and plunging China into poverty again
what trail did you go on to reach the fire tower?
Never camped never will
Do like that part of the world. Hopefully NPWS dont make it too accessible so there remains an element of 'getting out there'
sweet views to some sweet music 👍👍
really enjoyed this !!
Glad you enjoyed it!

👍👍
This hurts watching from Az in Aug 😓🫠
It’s hot out there man our news has been doing stories on your heat, wave but I’ve just got back in from an Enduro ride and it was 25° and we are in the middle of winter. Our summer is going to get really hot this year.
I’m ready for some cold riding at this point. My friend I really enjoy you videos.
Mate, in the cold you need to add heat no matter how many layers you have on., I have used a Zarkie electrically heated jacket that runs off the bike, very nice in the winter and cool mornings. The Zarkie jacket is thin so it fits well under the ADV jacket.
One of my many layers is a Milwaukee heated jacket. It’s very toasty, but thank you for the tip.
Doesn't look that cold.
😂
Where is that exactly?

Lol. Come ride Alberta if you think that's cold. 😉
We are Australians mate anything on the 20° is cold to us 😂 Thanks for watching
