Bee yay doo. Pronunciation of Billet Doux.
@@mcfctid2 Thank you!
Hello guys! Today I bring you an exercise based on a phrase by Django Reinhardt that I took from his improvisation in "Billet Doux". I modified the end of the phrase so that it fits in a major harmonic context. It's a phrase that has many small resources that are often used in gypsy jazz, I'm sure you'll like it. After the example I talk a little about different peculiarities that I find interesting to talk about. I hope you like it and see you next week!

Awesome Lesson Ariel! Thank you. Looking forward to more exercises
Excellent lessons and I'm finding the analysis and your thoughts on the licks very useful. Great stuff! Thanks.
@@stefanm2892 thanks for your comment! I was afraid I was talking too much and maybe it was boring or something. I'm still trying to talk less 😂
@@GuitarealLessons Stand by what you want to say and say it! I think it is really important when looking at a lick to fully understand how it works, interesting features about it any any playing problems and techniques it involves. Only by taking this time can you expect to be able to actually use it in your own playing and adjust it to match your playing style and what you want to say. Everyone's too 'busy' these days to slow down and take a bit of time to understand stuff!
@@stefanm2892 I absolute loved what you've just said! I think exactly the same. I just want to talk less because people think "This guy talks too much...fu#k him!" Hahaha. But I agree that I should say all the things I need to say and that's it. After all, the exercise is at the beginning, so if someone don't want to hear my thoughts about it just don't see the rest of the video and that's it. Thanks for your kind words!
Hello guys! For today's video I bring you another phrase widely used in gypsy jazz on major 6 chords, I took this specific phrase from the beginning of Romane's improvisation in "Menilmontant" but it's a very common phrase in the genre. Obviously different musicians gave this phrase a different twist, but you'll see that it's a very popular phrase. As always, at the beginning of the video you have the demonstration and then I talk a little about the phrase. I hope you like it!

Good lesson brother 👏👏
Way kewl ! Thanks !
Hello guys! Today I bring you a new exercise taken from a phrase by Angelo Debarre in a harmonic context V7b9 - Im. It's a phrase that is often used in Gypsy Jazz, so I decided to adapt it to two different positions and play it through the 12 keys so that you can play it in any position and harmonic context. After the demonstration I make a brief explanation of the phrase. There is also a tip to practice this type of phrases using the GP software (Guitar Pro). I hope you find it useful and interesting. Don't forget that I upload a phrase every Saturday. See you next week!

Hello guys! For today I prepared a video with typical gypsy jazz endings for major and minor blues. There are several examples and variations, the pdf consists of four pages. The blues is a very common form in jazz so I think it is important to have variety for endings. I took each example from immense gypsy jazz musicians (from transcriptions I made some time ago) so I clarify which musician and which song I used in each example. I hope it's useful and see you next time!

Really useful compilation, thanks.
good job! i started practising it and i realized i prefer the second fingering for the first part too, though
Hello guys! Today I bring you an exercise that I created by combining an Angelo Debarre lick in "Blues en Mineur" plus a classic, widely used gypsy jazz lick/arpeggio. Then I adapted this phrase to the 12 minor tonalities and this is the result. At the beginning of the video you can see the complete exercise with the transcription and then I talk a little about the exercise, I hope you find it useful. See you next time!

Hello guys! Today I bring you the backing track of "So What" based on Grant Green's version. It's very important to clarify this since as you will see Grant makes the song in Cm but he modified the melody. He doesn't transport it but rather plays it in different scale degrees, this is very important to keep in mind. I have also analyzed this in an extra pdf that is available for those who download the backing track. I have transcribed this song on my other YT channel, so you have a lot to work with here. I hope you like it and find it useful. See you tomorrow with a new transcription!
