Since there is no video of this show, and youtube requires video, please enjoy this picture of a bird. You might recognize the background music. Solo starts at 2:00 Shawn Lane did not die, he merely went back to the place he came from

I've listened to these guys for so many years and I cannot believe I never knew that Jonas had a six string acoustic I always thought it was a four
What he. Suffering from? This overveight most have come from some thing.?
from wikipedia: Lane had psoriasis throughout his life. After age twelve, he also suffered from psoriatic arthritis, which caused stiffness in his joints and after 2000 was affecting his ability to play guitar (Lane stated that with proper rest he could still play live gigs, etc.).[1] Lane had treated his psoriasis with hydrocortisone for many years, which caused his weight to increase, further loading his joints.
Shawn lane is was and will always be the best , not of this world
What else to say?
Im gonna say it,i wish he'd takin better care of himself.RIP SHAWN❤
This music is cutting edge. Like Weather Report , Scott Henderson, etc... Jeff Sipe is the master drummer.
OSA or obtstuctive sleep apnea, happens when a person's tongue obstructs their airway druing sleep which happens to most of us to some degree. It ultimtely can lead to heart faiilure and death as it did to Shawn. Obesity, pickwickian syndrome, and sleeping on your back can increase chances for OSA.
Been looking for this for months!! Thanks for the upload. Love the kakariki videos too, yeah New Zealand :)
Ich bin sprachlos
That well known 'rag' rolling stone omitted him from their top 250 guitarists of all time!
I was in my late teens in the late 80s. I was an EVH junkie. My walls were covered in VH posters that I still have today. I also listened to Gambale, MacAlpine, Howe, Gilbert, Johnson, Malmsteen. I don’t know how I missed Shawn. He is in a category all his own. The world got a small glimpse of genius with him. The trio with Shawn, Jonas Hellborg, and Jeff Sipe is simply ferocious.
Man we listen to the same guitarists, i did discover lane in the 90s thou.... Gambale , malmsteen, eric johnson are my heroes, but i still listen to all the other guitarists you mentioned, and gary moore and roben ford!
For instance saw Gambale in the late 80's early 90's, Yngwie in 1985 to be specific at Fenders grand ballroom in long beach, totally insane. But didn't know about Shawn unitl around his death in 2005 unfortunately.
Don't forget Holdsworth! He was Shawn's hero. Shawn said he might have quit guitar had he not heard Holdsworth when he was a teenager.
@@lex.cordisYes, thank you and I did.
2023 still introducing shawn to new friends
Perfect power trio example.
Beautiful tune. Otherworldly playing.🥰
AAAHH YESSS
4.36 - 4.40 very Joe Bonamassa. Well Joe got this lIck/s from shawn and Eric johnson TBH.
Damn hellborg was hella good! But Shawn was incredible
still love alos this drummer jeff sipe!!
Great clip
Is there a song here somewhere? No chord progression at all, just soloing mostly in the pentatonic. Is this a warm up, or an actual song of this group? No one knows.
The song is known as "Juvalamu" from the Album "Two Doors" or "Personae" from the album "Personae". Try em and find out.
playing through a line 6 flextone II
cor blimey big sound
Yes, he's a beast !
Nice jam type stuff !
Lane is soooo mind blowing, it's easy to miss how really good Sipe is...
It’s too bad that all these great musicians have to die way before their time .
why and how did we not hear of him nationally???????????????? This is not hide under a rock kind of mastery here. just wow.
Blues was out when he came into his own but we got Nirvana instead. Admittedly not as technically sophisticated as all of this but awesome nonetheless.
I can't believe I've been sleeping on Shawn. th-cam.com/video/dwUGIPWiiVM/w-d-xo.html
People, what effects and set up is he using? What scale? Thanx.
He used to play with 4 amps in series each with a few millisecond delay. Not sure which effects otherwise.
@2:37
Why did the poor chap put on so much weight?
medication
i believe I read a comment once in 2008 youtube times that he had an autoimmune disease something or other since his late teens/early 20's and steroids + other meds at the time caused uncontrolled weight gain.
Psoriasis and obesity caused by steroids@@hellsoul0
So very beautiful my friend ❤️ 💕 😍 ♥️ 💖
: Robert Robert
I still can't figure out why more people don't know who this guy is. Even my guitar buddies never heard of him
The reason is that once you hear him play once, you've heard everything he has to offer. Everyone waits for him to play fast, that's the trick. Shawn Lane made some forgettable music, and as a player, he had nothing to say. He was just really really fast.
@@MeAndTheBoys_ low tier bait
@MeAndTheBoys_ stop waiting for him to play fast and start listening to everything else he played. His middle ground between southern rock and eastern influences makes for very interesting music. He's got the soul of the south with the excited celebration of Indian music. Shawn rocks my socks off
Midas without the downside.
nice ...He could have used some gold guitars though
Thank You one of the best trios Ever 😁
i totally love this i nevr even known about this for so many years
4:45 to 5:15 Shawn Lane leaves humanity
Jeff Sipe is soooo good on this, what a talent. You can also see him playing with Jimmy Herring on several vids here. Jimmy I think is a lot like Shawn in that he has not received the recognition he deserves
Totally agree! Sipe should be much better known!
Aquarium rescue unit
Wow Sounds like Eric Johnson
Shawn Lane is definitely demonstrating his technical ability but it's almost like he's just messing around. Personally I think his early stuff is more developed musically, this is a jam and he seems to be running through different ideas. It's cool but when he fully developed something it was more musical and just as technical and unique.
I hear Eric Johnson here or vice a versa and maybe just cause I noticed a little Jeff Beck?? Regardless what a monster player.
Shawn was a fan for sure
I could hardly believe no one in the comments mentioned the Eric Johnson vibe.
God Playing Guitar!
Holy CRAP!
Well.. I've just stumbled into this line up and this play and I feel lighter than air. The altitude is breath taking... I risked oxygen starvation and they kindly flew me back down into the valleys to get my breath back and then flung me up again Wow.
this song has been stuck in my head, i've been trying to find tablature to it but of course it's impossible. I wish I knew what scales he was transitioning from at least, that minor blues to that major majestic riff is so amazing I love it. RIP SHAWN
He is the alien child master.
The greatest trio of all time, never to be replicated🏆.
The cigarette thing while playing reminds me of a dance band back in the day of Joe Silvo. There was a sax player named Nate who could on a 2 bar rest ,take a drag on cigarette,a swig of beer and come back in time to start a solo without missing a beat.
