I had this charging error happened to me when I was using my 5 volt power brick. I decided to switch over to a Samsung fast charger and it seemed to fix the problem. Hope that helps.

Guaranteed it's the factory gopro cable! Mine is useless. Can't believe it. It's got their logo on it and it looks like a good thick quality cable.

The USB type c cable that came with my hero black 6 won't allow a 2 amp charge, but some of the other cables I have bought do allow a 2 amp charge. You must use a quality cable and that may not mean expensive. One of mine that works is from a dollar store. A 2 amp plus charger is highly recommended or you'll have problems. Plug the cable into the wall outlet and then plug the cable into the camera with the camera already switched on so you can see the screen. If the power icon goes green you are in a fast charge state. If not then you have a poor power supply or poor quality cable. If the icon shows charging, but isn't green it is slowww charging. The icon will often not go green if you don't switch the camera on first before plugging the power in. Then when I switch the power off the red LEDs light up to let me know it is charging. I've had to set aside all the cables I've bought that don't work so don't use the wrong one.

Literally just bought it for black Friday and it didnt charge tried everything I saw online but I decided to use my battery bank and use the 2.1 amp port i saw it registered a charge on my battery bank( slow flashing light) but no red light on the gopro so i just left it on for a while maybe 30 mins and now the red light is on charging the battery. My battery bank was flashing showing it was charging something so I knew it was doing something and turns out it did hope this helps someone.

I had the same issue with my 4day old hero6. Up until yesterday the camera had been used and recharged via the gopro usb cable, then today after being left on charge all night the camera was flat!? Changing adaptor didnt sovle it for me, however this video th-cam.com/video/l50kvIVXjb4/w-d-xo.html did fix it. Basically, remove the battery, plug a usb cable in, turn it on, then insert the battery in. now it charges again.

The same problem is with the go pro hero 5. The brochure loses the brand of the brand mark, because now who buys the iV camera type should be asked on the spot to try the seller all. It was not done because the brand go pro but with With this performance, we lose quality trust

Now I have a new camera with firmware v1.55 and it works well! I will not upgrade it until there is a newer firmware than 1.60. :-) ...
