I think in the train issue you can't be certain how you would react until you're in that situation. There's really no time to think about it

33:55 i feel like this is a very different scenario bc in the first one, you're in charge of the train very literally. like it would feel more like you're responsible for the train moving in it's current direction. the options then are much more clear and switching a train track is an action we don't have as difficult on it's own in our minds. pushing a person off a bridge is a much different action in itself. so i don't think pushing the person next to you off the bridge to stop the train, would actually come to mind as an option to me. and if someone said it was the only way i still wouldn't see it as an option. and probably would move forward believing there was nothing i could have done to prevent the 5 people being killed.

30:10 if i couldn't see the people i don't think i could make the decision to switch, it wouldn't feel real enough. if i could see myself driving towards 5 screaming people on a track, versus 1 person on another track, the emotional response and fear of killing 5 screaming people would possibly be strong enough to flip the switch in a panic. either that or i would crawl up in a ball and pretend it wasn't happening.

For people wondering why it was a one episode thing I believe it’s because they don’t have time for it understandable as they are busy with there own channels and the Welsh twins channel we love them all the same it was a brilliant episode that I rewatch all the time just the intro itself makes me laugh when they put on a awkward smile love you guys keep up the great work

I heard a scientist type talking about the psychology of hurting robots for real and she said the research showed that most people don't like to hurt even toy robots that have a face and/or bits of "personality". She actually said that people who could hurt those robots with no qualms also had characteristics of domestic and animal abusers. She said law enforcement already consider cruelty to animals to be a flag that someone may be a domestic/child abuser, and she speculated that in the future they might treat cruelty to robots as the same sort of flag.

Years later, same night as below, lol re: it being difficult to get rid of a robot who had been helping you daily for so long: the TV show Humans had this, where one of the original inventors of the program for the sentient robots does not want to junk his old model because it has the memories of his deceased wife, and he's getting dementia. It was a heartbreaking story arc.

Years later: "Alexa, how long should a child scream for" lol!
